This theme is relevant due to the scarce studies that deal with innovation and agribusiness. To do so, the constructs of innovation, competitive advantage, value creation, resources and strategic capabilities were reviewed. The research method adopted was the qualitative one of exploratory and descriptive character, with the use of a standardized script containing open questions. The content analysis technique was used for the treatment of the data. Five managers related to the food business were interviewed. As a result, it has been identified that effectively strategic innovations are those that have allowed the development of products with a high level of differentiation, sanity and standardization. The resources that supported the innovations were the technical knowledge of the team and application of cutting-edge technology, and together with the ability to analyze the demands were considered strategic for the generation of value to the products offered. The product portfolio has elapsed from market strategies that are predominantly focused on differentiation, ranging from more generic to more focused, with a slightly lower emphasis on costs, seeking to guarantee the superior quality of the products offered. / Esta dissertação teve por objetivo identificar quais inovações desenvolvidas pela Lar Cooperativa Agroindustrial têm contribuído para gerar vantagem competitiva nos seus negócios, sob a perspectiva da Visão Baseada em Recursos – VBR. Esse tema é relevante devido aos escassos estudos que tratam de inovação e agronegócio. Para tanto, foram revisados os construtos de inovação, vantagem competitiva, criação de valor, recursos e capacidades estratégicos. O método de pesquisa adotado foi o qualitativo de caráter exploratório e descritivo, com o emprego de um roteiro padronizado contendo perguntas abertas. Utilizou-se a técnica de análise de conteúdo para o tratamento dos dados. Foram entrevistados cinco gestores ligados aos negócios de alimentos. Como resultado, identificou-se que as inovações efetivamente estratégicas são aquelas que têm permitido o desenvolvimento de produtos com alto nível de diferenciação, sanidade e padronização. Os recursos que apoiaram as inovações foram o conhecimento técnico da equipe e aplicação de tecnologia de ponta, e em conjunto com a capacidade de análise das demandas foram considerados estratégicos para a geração de valor aos produtos ofertados. O portfólio de produtos tem decorrido das estratégias de mercado preponderantemente voltadas à diferenciação, variando entre aquelas mais genéricas e àquelas mais focadas, com ênfase um pouco menor em custos, procurando garantir a qualidade superior dos produtos oferecidos.
