Thesis (M.Tech.: Homoeopathy)-Dept. of Homoeopathy, Durban Institute of Technology, 2007 xxii, 250 leaves / This study aimed to assess the perceptions and career choices made by Technikon Witwatersrand Homoeopathy graduates from 1998 to 2004. It is noted that Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR) is now known as University of Johannesburg; however as the name change did not occur at the time of this study, this study refers to this institution as TWR throughout. The study was designed to investigate their demographic composition as well as aspects concerning career choices, the status of their practices and the reality of Homoeopathy being a viable and satisfactory career choice.

This paper investigates the relationship between student-led consulting teams and community organizations as one part of Eller Social Innovation (ESI). The research conducted to analyze the relationship between these entities is most similar to program evaluation. Program evaluation has become commonplace in the nonprofit sector and it is important method for these organizations to establish the value of all of their activities (Carman, 2007). Through data collected from interviews and surveys of community organizations, this article seeks to understand the efficacy of student-led consulting projects and determine the effect that they have on these organizations. The answer to this question will inform stakeholders in ESI about the potential value that further collaboration with community organizations could create for both parties.

<p> The Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) is a model of clinical teaching which has gained widespread acceptance and national recognition as an innovative method of clinical education for undergraduate nursing students (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2010; Warner &amp; Burton, 2009). The primary goals and benefits of the DEU for schools of nursing are expansion of educational capacity within a nursing faculty shortage and increased clinical placements while providing a high quality experiential learning environment (Murray, Crain, Meyer, McDonough, &amp; Schweiss, 2010). Registered nurses (RNs) are the key component in the DEU clinical teaching model and serve as preceptors and valuable role models. Nurse preceptors are caught in challenging situations where they experience significant pressures to deliver quality nursing care under heavy workloads and are responsible for teaching and supervising students. The current quasi-experimental, investigational study reveals the relationships between the DEU model and the quality of patient care. Utilizing the nursing sensitive indicators of nursing hours per patient day &mdash; Registered Nurse, hospital acquired pressure ulcer rates, patient fall rates, and medication error rates, the study found no negative impact on the quality of patient care provided on DEUs despite the increased workload for precepting registered nurses.</p>

Asset management is an integral part of maintaining and preserving the transportation infrastructure. In order to better manage the roadway assets, a value based on their economic contribution should be assigned. The actual monetary contribution a roadway makes to the overall economy can be difficult to quantify. Because of this difficulty, most agencies use asset valuation techniques that are based on construction and material costs, rather than utilization. This proposed study aims to establish a framework to quantify the economic value of existing roadways. Traditionally in transportation asset management, economic evaluation research has been mostly qualitative in nature and insufficient in generating a numerical value. Although there are many techniques to project the economic impact of a future roadway, there has not been much work done on evaluating the economic value of existing roadway infrastructure. In this thesis, some of the tools used in economic impact studies are adopted as a means to evaluate the value of existing roadways, leading to the development of comprehensive methodological framework as a guide to perform economic evaluation on existing roadways. / text
