Veremos que através deste controle religioso a mulher negra recebeu maior atenção por parte da igreja, quando observamos que elas se constituíram a maior parte do rol de punidos. Assim, nossa pesquisa centrou-se na análise da cidade de Mariana, em Minas Gerais, entre os anos de 1722 e 1793. A partir das devassas será possível analisar a estrutura das visitas bem como suas relações com o Santo Ofício da Inquisição de Portugal. Por fim, são investigadas as relações entre as punições e os delitos, ao analisar os casos de concubinato e feitiçaria. / The objective of this study is to understand the role of the Catholic Church on the population of Mariana regarding the control of morals and morality, from a widely used tool: the episcopal visitations. We will see that through this religious control, black women received more attention from the Church, when we observed that they constituted the largest part of punished people. Thus, our research focused on the analysis of the city of Mariana, Minas Gerais, between 1722 and 1793. From wanton, it will be possible to analyze the structure of visits as well as its relations with the Holy Office of the Inquisition in Portugal. Finally, we analyze the relationships between punishments and offenses, to analyze cases of concubinage and sorcery.
