Konstrukce genderové identity v seriálu Dokonalý svět / Construction of gender identity within the series Dokonalý svět /the perfect world

Mlynářová, Martina January 2014 (has links)
The thesis analyzes the instruments of gender stereotypes reproduction and gender identity construction in Czech TV series Dokonalý svět. Is the media content gendered? With which instruments of gender stereotypes reproduction and gender identity construction is TV viewer confronted and on which levels? I use the theory of social construction of reality, the theory of the lenses of gender or the characters and narrative structure of the TV series (soup opera) to come to a conclusion. The thesis focuses on the fact that Dokonalý svět does not only reflect the stereotypes on the other hand. It confronts the standard gender orders by the comic character. The comedy character ridicules some gender stereotypes and shakes their social status.

Rozdíly v sexuálním chování na základě gender typologie S. Bemové / Gender and sexuality: Differences in sexual behavior based on gender typology according to S. Bem

Hlivka, Michal January 2011 (has links)
Our concern in this work was a shared field of study between gender and sexuality in the search of underlying variables of sexual behavior. Basically our scope was to gather data to empirically support one of the theoretical approaches of sex differences in sexual behavior - essentialism, explaining behavior on the basis of biological sex or evolution; or social constructionism applying variables like gender or masculinity and feminity. For this purpose, 602 participants (166 men, 436 women), aged 18-45 yr., filled out the Bem Sex Role Inventory, and the Inventory of Sexual Behavior. Results in general support the social constructionism approaches, as in the most types of sexual behavior we found differences between gender groups, but not between the sexes. However, explanations provided by theories of essentialism should not be discarded, as there were also differences between sexes in few specific areas of human sexuality, namely masturbation, and overall sexual activity. Key words: gender, sexuality, masculinity, feminity, sexual behavior, sex differences

Genderová schematizace v popisu vlastní osoby / Gender schematization in self-description

Vranka, Marek January 2012 (has links)
This thesis critically analyzes some measures of masculinity and femininity. Special attention is paid primarily to a BSRI (Bem Sex-Role Inventory), which is the most widespread but completely invalid instrument for measuring gender identity. At the same time, there is presented an alternative approach to the topic of gender identity based on an application of statistical discriminant analysis technique to generally shared stereotypical evaluations of typical men and women. In empirical part, proposed approach is successfully tested in practice by creating an index of masculinity / femininity. Results of analyzes of relations between the determined gender identity and various other components of gender belief system (cognitive gender schematization, an explicit M / F and gender attitudes) suggest the validity of this approach. Between feminity (regardless of sex) and a measure of traditional gender attitudes has been found small but significant negative correlation (rs = -0.3). Keywords: masculinity, feminity, discriminant analysis, critique of BSRI

Konstrukce maskulinity a feminity ze strany transsexuálních osob, které nepodstoupily operativní změnu pohlaví / Construction of masculinity and femininity by transsexuals who have not undergone sex reassignment surgery

Chovancová, Martina January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis examines the construction of masculinity and femininity of young transsexual individuals who have not undergone surgical gender reassignment. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part builds on the theory of gender stereotype and the research of Gagné and Tewksbury, according to which transsexual individuals try to suppress their feminine or masculine selves as expected, while maintaining relationships. Furthermore, the work is based on Mandal's and Jakubowski's study, which confirms the theory that transsexual women live more in a gender stereotype than transsexual men who live in accordance with their original and new gender roles. In the practical part, a qualitative survey is carried out using the method of grounded theory, and six transsexual respondents were interviewed using semi- structured interviews: three transsexual men and three transsexual women. The sample is selected from transgender individuals who have not undergone operative gender reassignment and have decided to share their story on social networks. The aim of the research part is to find out how transsexual people without operative gender reassignment construct their masculinity and femininity. The main finding was that transsexual individuals who chose not to undergo sex...

Přátelství mezi heterosexuální ženou a homosexuálním mužem a jeho vliv na sociální konstrukci identit / Friendship between heterosexual woman nad homosexual man and its effect on the social construction of identities

Brzobohatá, Dana January 2013 (has links)
The thesis deals with a friendship between heterosexual woman and homosexual man, the way it is created, the way it is maintained and the threats it has to face. The thesis defines the meaning of essential theoretical concepts such as gender, sexuality, friendship or intimacy and trust. It is based on ten semi-structured interview with women who define the relationship with their gay friends as a close one. It reflects ways, how gender and sexual identities are negotiated in the friendship, puts friendship with a gay man into a broader context of friendly relationships in a heteronormative society and traditional binary oppositions of feminine and masculine. The thesis also looks into strategies of how the informants construct their own identity, identity of their gay friend ad where they place the boundaries of this relationship.

Genderové stereotypy v televizních reklamách na automobily / Gender stereotypes in TV car commercials

Salomonová, Markéta January 2013 (has links)
Gender stereotypes and the prejudices associated with them are a frequently discussed issue in the society as well as in the academic world. Even though there is certain evidence of the changes in the media presentation of masculine and feminine roles, the stereotypical illustration of men and women still persists and the media have a significant impact on gender socialisation (Renzetti, Curran, 2003). TV advertising is a typical example of a media format presenting masculine and feminine genders unequally. This thesis examines this assumption focusing on the TV advertising of cars. I also follow-up on my bachelor thesis in which I dealt with the gender stereotypes in the TV advertising for children. In the research background and theory I concentrate on the general understanding of the biological and social views of gender, gender development and gender socialisation. I also provide a short introduction to the media as well as TV advertising theory. The methodological part explains the reasons for the usage of the selected research method and forms guidelines for the data analysis. 54 unique advertisements were analysed using quantitative content analysis which examined 24 variables associated with the three main categories: the advertising itself, the promoted car(s) and the participating...

Pracovní zátěž učitelů a její zvládání v kontextu genderových specifik vyučujících / The workload of teachers and its management in the context of the teacher's gender specifics

VANČURA, Jakub January 2019 (has links)
Firstly, the theoretical framework of this thesis presents definitions of terms that will be needed further on in the thesis. Primarily, there are definitions of stress, teaching profession and gender. The theoretical part of the thesis also serves as an overview of existing knowledge about the occupational stress of teachers. Lastly, I will try to elucidate the problems associated with measuring and interpreting selected studies on the occupational stress of teachers. The practical part of the thesis states three research problems. The first one explores the connection between the teacher's biological sex and the degree of occupational burnout, the second research problem examines the connection between the personality type of the teacher and the degree of occupational burnout and the last one puts the teacher's workload in the context of an inclusive environment. In principle, it has been established that individual mediators have no significant influence on the perceived workload of the teacher.

Reprezentace feminity ve filmové tvorbě Quentina Tarantina / Representations of femininity in Quentin Tarantino's movies

Benešová, Lucie January 2015 (has links)
The submitted thesis is titled Representations of Femininity in Quentin Tarantino's Movies and it focuses on the process of femininity construction in six selected movies both written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The aim of this study is to identify how Tarantino operates the notions of conventional femininity and traditional female gender roles. Furthermore, it investigates to what extent his films either support or subvert stereotypical gender identities. In relation to the research issues the key concepts are defined by the theoretical part of this work. In particular it describes the theory of social and media construction of reality, gender as construct, film as a part of patriarchal structure or feminist perspectives related to the film production. This same part also offers basic information about Quentin Tarantino's personality and his film works in general. In order to answer the research questions the thesis employs a qualitative method of critical discourse analysis which functions as a helpful tool while reconstructing the image of femininity set by media. Moreover, the selected method serves to reveal latent meanings applied by film as a form of media to affect both behavioural and cognitive individual characteristics. Keywords Femininity, gender, construct, stereotype,...

Na genderu (ne)záleží: biatlonistky a biatlonisté v českých médiích / The gender (does not) matter(s): female and male biathletes in the Czech media

Březinová, Veronika January 2016 (has links)
The thesis analyzes the media presentation of male and female biathletes in the Czech media, specifically in two newspapers and their online versions. The research focuses on three major biathlon events (Olympic Games, World Cup in Nové Město na Moravě and World Championships), which took place between the years 2014 and 2015. The theoretical part briefly defines terms as sports in the media, gender, process of representation, stereotyping or history and the present of biathlon. The most important chapters in gender studies are feminist studies and their criticism, unwritten rules of gender stereotyping or men and masculinity. This paper also pays attention to chosen methodology - qualitative research and framing analysis. The analytic part of the thesis describes particular frames, which appear in analysed articles. This work is also based on the analysis of visual part of media - photographs. Individual chapters also map dominant frames - sport-reportage frame, frame of heroism, frame of humanity, frame of privacy, and frames of femininity and masculinity. For the purpose of the thesis, the signs, which are attributed to male and female athletes, are assessed too. At the end of the thesis, the author evaluates the conclusions from the research and also adds information about the media...
