Overland flow time of concentration on flat terrains

Chibber, Paramjit 15 November 2004 (has links)
Time of concentration parameter is defined very loosely in literature and it is calculated rather subjectively in practice (Akan 1986). The situation becomes adverse as the terrain slope approaches zero; because the slope generally appears in the denominator of any formula for time of concentration, this time goes to infinity as the slope goes to zero. The variables affecting this time parameter on flat terrains have been studied through plot scale field experiments. It has been found that the antecedent moisture and rainfall rate control this parameter. Some of the existing time of concentration methods have been compared, and it is found that all the empirical models compared under predict this time parameter. This under prediction can be attributed first to the differing concepts of time of concentration previous researchers have modeled, secondly to the absence of any accounting for the initial moisture content in their respective equations and thirdly to the watersheds where these models have been calibrated. At lower time of concentrations, Izzard-based model predictions show some results close to the observed values. A methodology to determine the plot scale surface undulations has been developed to estimate the depression storage. Regression equations have been derived based upon the experiments to determine the overland flow times on a flat plot of 30 feet length with uniform rainfall intensity. The application of these equations on other lengths cannot be ascertained. Equations for the hydrograph slope on flat terrains have been determined for bare clay and grass plots.

Komparace právní úpravy zániku nájmu bytu v České republice a Polsku / A comparison of legal regulation of termination of flat lease in the Czech Republic and Poland

Hanusek, Viktor January 2015 (has links)
Housing is one of the basic needs of everyone. If this need is not satisfied, one does not feel safe. In fact, one suffers in other respects, does not have privacy and is not able to engage in other activities. There are various ways how to realize the need of housing. Nevertheless, the biggest limiting factor is the financial situation of the person. Therefore, the vast majority of the population lives in a leased flat these days. The lessee is in the position of the weaker party regarding the contract. Therefore, the law provides a special legal protection for the lessee. I decided to write a diploma thesis that would concern the housing law. It happened after passing optional subject called Housing law and I have gained valuable knowledge about legal issue of lease housing. Frankly, I was impressed by its dynamics and frequency. I chose a comparative topic thanks to my study abroad in Wrocław within the Erasmus programme. That programme provided me an access to Polish literature. Moreover, I had a great opportunity to consult the Polish law with lawyers teaching me at the University of Wrocław. The main aim of my diploma thesis is to analyse the ways of the legal regulation of termination of flat lease in the Czech Republic and Poland. This corresponds to the structure of the thesis. The first...

Zánik nájmu bytu / Termination of flat lease

Jaša, Jaromír January 2012 (has links)
This thesis deals with termination of flat lease. The main aim of this thesis was to focus on particular ways by which lease of flat terminates. Significant part of the thesis is devoted to termination of flat lease by notice, which is relatively in detail defined on Act. No. 40/1964 Col., the Civil Code. The Supreme court's decisions are published in the thesis very often, because these decisions take irretrievable place in the field of termination of flat lease. The thesis contains also short discourse about several questions concerning termination of flat lease.

PERSONLIGHET OCH FÖRMÅGOR I KARAKTÄRSDESIGN : Vikten av personlighetsdrag för förståelsen av fysiska förmågor / PERSONALITY AND ABILITIES IN CHARACTER DESIGN : The Importance of Personality for the Perception of Physical Abilities

Larsson, Anders January 2014 (has links)

Tailoring Metasurface Lattice-Controlled Resonances for Flat-Optic Applications

Saad-Bin-Alam, Md 24 January 2023 (has links)
Flat-optics enable the miniaturization of many traditional bulk photonic devices routinely used in optical modulation and detection in telecommunication systems, biosensing and microscopic imaging in biomedical research, and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) used in automobile, military and surveillance applications. The backbone of typical flat-optic devices are the metasurfaces comprising structured nanoparticle lattices embedded in flat layer of traditional dielectric or semiconductor optical materials. The metasurface lattices can create optical resonances by exploiting different aspects of the light-matter interaction, e.g., light absorption, radiation, scattering and diffraction by the nanoparticles array. Such resonances are essential for the efficient optical interactions performed by the flat-optic devices, for example, enhancing nonlinear second-harmonic generation for optical frequency modulators, or enhancing light absorption in photodetectors. This Ph.D. dissertation reports the mechanisms of exciting and tailoring the metasurface lattice-controlled resonances using metal nanoparticle arrays. Exhibiting localized surface plasmon effects, metal particles can dramatically enhance the light field intensity under resonance conditions. Nevertheless, by nature, metal particles concurrently exhibit high absorption, radiation, and scattering losses, which cannot be sufficiently suppressed by the localized surface plasmon resonances. Almost two decades ago, researchers theoretically estimated that the benefits of the plasmonic field enhancement could still be harnessed by suppressing the scattering loss by organizing such lossy metal particles in a periodic lattice formation. In contrast to the low-Q localized resonances, such an engineered lattice arrangement could excite high-Q nonlocalized resonances, which are now often called as lattice plasmon or surface lattice resonances. Notwithstanding, the efforts on the experimental validation of such a concept were not succeeding as per expectation in terms of the resonance Q-factors. Thus, prior to the work accomplished in this dissertation, it was largely believed by the photonics community that, it is the 'lossy' plasmonic metal particles that do not allow to excite the high-Q resonances as per the minimum requirements in the practical flat optic applications. As a primary contribution to my Ph.D. dissertation, we successfully debunk that myth. In our work, we systematically proved that the non-localized lattice resonances can still be excited in 'lossy' metal nanoparticle arrays. Precisely, we improved both the design of the metasurface lattices and their fabrication and characterization techniques to eventually observe the high-Q lattice resonances as per the theoretical prediction. Our primary success later inspired us to analyze the systems more profoundly to make them suitable for different types of practical applications, which ultimately resulted in additional secondary successful projects described in my Ph.D. dissertation. The success of these projects would allow us in the future to utilize the nonlocalized plasmonic metasurface lattice-controlled resonances in a diverse range of flat integrated photonics applications, such as free-space light modulation and detection, which may rely on the nonlinear or electro-optical light-matter interaction in the flat thin-film region. We believe that the outcome of this dissertation will pave the way to designing and manufacturing efficient flat meta-optic devices for real-life applications, particularly in the telecommunication and medical sectors for the utmost betterment of human civilization.

69 Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to describe the legal regulation of ownership of cooperative flat. The thesis is composed of four chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of legislation of ownership of cooperative flat. Chapter one is composed of four main subchapters, and contains brief descriptions of basic institutes of each cooperative. The first chapter also contains an explanation what the cooperative is, who are the members of cooperative, what is an organization and regulations of cooperative, and how the cooperative expires. Second chapter is aimed on the flat cooperative. Its first part contains short historical overview of legal regulation of flat cooperative since their creation, till the second half of the twentieth century. Second subchapter explains the concept of the flat cooperative. Inside the following two subchapters of this chapter are described kinds of a typical flat cooperatives, and detailed described the concept of cooperative flat. Third chapter of the thesis analyzes the transfers of the flats cooperatives to the ownership of their members. In the first subchapter is an explanation of the legal regulation, which offers the change between the owner of the flat from the cooperative to its member- man. In this part are also described the theoretical...
