Diploma thesis deals with design and comparison of heating systems. In diploma thesis is designed system with gas condensing boiler, system with heat pump and system with gas condensing boiler for heating and solar collectors for heating of hot water. Content of this thesis is calculation of house heat loss, design of radiators, design of heat systems including a check of protective components, regulation with the help of thermostatic radiator valve, calculation of economical evaluation and creation of design documentation. Design is made for systems with unified temperature fall 55/45. For the variation with heat pump is computed a possibility of using the heat pump as an univalent or bivalent heat source. In the analysis of costs is considered a usage of natural gas for heating and warming of hot water with a condensing boiler, annual consumption of electric energy for operation of electrical appliances in household, consumption of electric energy for operation of heat pump for heating and warming of hot water and consumption of electric energy for warming of hot water in case of system with solar collectors. In the final evaluation a pay-off period is determined.

The first is presentation of the house. After that, there is calculation heat loss of the house. The next step contains design of a reconstruction for every room and calculation modified heat loss. Another point this work is design the reconstruction of the heating system, extension heating system to the attic floor, calculation pressure losses and selection condensing gas boiler. After that is designed regulation with central control unit and electric thermostatic radiator valve. The last part of master`s thesis is focused on benefit assessment changes, budget and return of investment. The drawings are listed in the appendix.

Comparative analysis of hydraulic configurations in hybrid heating systems with unified control strategy : Simulation based analysis using MATLAB for residential application of hybrid heating systemsEngels, Alexander January 2024 (has links)
This research addresses the challenge of optimizing hybrid heating systems (HHS) that combine heat pumps with natural gas boilers in residential buildings. Existing buildings primarily rely on high-temperature natural gas boilers, limiting the adoption of more efficient, low-temperature alternatives like heat pumps. The research aims to explore the most effective hydraulic configurations for HHS with the goal of minimize energy usage, primary energy cost and CO₂ emissions while maintaining comfort levels. A MATLAB-based simulation model was developed to compare various HHS configurations under a unified control strategy over an annual cycle. The configurations studied included a base system with only a natural gas boiler and hybrid systems with series, parallel, and buffer tank arrangements. The results indicate that all hybrid configurations substantially outperform the boiler-only system in terms of energy efficiency and emissions reduction. The series hybrid system emerged as the most efficient, reducing energy usage to 59% of the boiler-only system, with the parallel system close behind at 58%. The buffer tank system, while less efficient than the other hybrids, still achieved a 49% reduction in energy usage compared to the boiler-only setup. Cost analysis revealed a primary energy cost reductions of 17% for both the series and parallel system and 4% for the system with buffer tank. CO₂ emissions were reduced by 46% to 56% across the hybrid configurations. The study highlights the critical role of control strategies over hydraulic configurations, as the series and parallel systems showed very similar performance. However, incorporating more components, especially storage like buffer tanks, negatively impacted overall efficiency. Real-world performance may differ slightly due to unaccounted changes in boiler efficiency from flue gas condensation, but the impact is expected to be modest. This research provides valuable insights for optimizing hybrid heating technologies in residential buildings, with implications for broader applications in other building types. The significant energy and cost savings, along with substantial CO₂ emission reductions, present a compelling case for adopting hybrid heating systems in energy retrofits and new constructions. The findings support global climate action and energy efficiency goals, contributing to environmental sustainability and energy security.

This master´s thesis focuses on a design of a heating system in the functionalist villa Stiassni. The building is located in Brno and was used as a government villa. The objec-tive of this work is to select the appropriate type of heating system out of three differ-ent heat sources – an automatic pellet boiler, a gas boiler and an oil boiler. The theo-retical part is focused on the history of the villa Stiassnia, functionalism itself and other functionalist monuments. In the project part, the design of a heating system using the chosen type of heat source, which is a pellet boiler, is described.
