Where did you go? Encouraging female participation within Red Hat, Inc.

Whittier, Jeremy, Kalel,Christina R. 05 1900 (has links)
Edited by Dr. Brandy A. Brown and Romi C. Wittman / As U.S.-based companies continue to struggle to fill science, engineering and technology (SET) positions with domestic talent, a large portion of the available workforce (women) continues to be underrepresented. This project discusses the strategic advantages of encouraging female workforce participation in SET roles within global technology companies. Three publicly traded companies - Netflix, Facebook and Red Hat, Inc. - are compared utilizing self-reported diversity numbers to see the varying levels of women in those workplaces. The diversity policies and benefits programs of these three companies are discussed as well as available corporate statements regarding workforce diversity policies. Finally, utilizing information from programs proven to increase women’s participation and retention within SET roles, suggestions are provided, namely sponsorship of women in the workplace.

Lost Koreans: Information Technology and Identity in the Former Soviet Union

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: The history of Koreans in the former Soviet Union dates back to more than a century ago. Yet little was known about them during the existence of the USSR, and even less as the first decade of the Newly Independent States unfolded. This current study is one of the first attempts to quantitatively measure the national and ethnic identity of this group. The research was conducted via an online survey in two languages, English and Russian. Three main variables -- ethnic identity, national identity and information technology -- were used to test the hypothesis. The data collection and survey process revealed some interesting facts about this group. Namely, there are some strong indicators that post-Soviet Koreans belong to a category of their own within the larger group known as the "Korean diaspora." Secondly, a very strong sense of ethnic group belonging, when paired with higher education and high to medium levels of proficiency with Internet technology, indicates the potential for further development and sustainability of these ethnic and national identities, particularly when nurtured by the continued progress of information technology. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S. 導熱介面材料全球競爭策略分析: 高柏科技公司個案探討 / Global Competitive Strategic Analysis in TIM Industry: A Case Study

Hsiao, Kenny Unknown Date (has links)
Thermal Interface Materials (TIM) is one of key components in many electronics applications. TIM generally works to solve thermal issues in these electronic products. T-Global Technology Co., one of the top 15 leading companies in the global TIM industry, has been building its own brand by manufacturing and marketing it own products since 10 years ago. The company faces much higher competitions from producers of emerging markets who focus on the low-cost or entry-lever productions. This study considers and investigates how to develop sustainable growth strategies in the current situation. A thorough analysis suggests that strategies of deeper penetrating and expanding into global markets by leveraging the company's core competence may well serve the purpose.
