Frdlíková, Markéta January 2019 (has links)
Contribution to the origin and temporary state of the former monastery in Pivoň Abstract This Thesis is contributing to the issue of establishment of former Pivon Monastery, belonging to the Order of st. Augustin between years 1266-1787. Its' origin is a bit older, probably connected with Wilhelmite order, but there still remains a possibility of another, unknown founder. To this topic exist many relevant articles, the same as architectonical surveys but without any strict solution. The oldest visible architectonic parts survived till our days in presbytery of the monastic Church of Annunciation. In the time of writing this Thesis is the area of former monastery put up for auction and its' state is unfavourible, due to the sequences of events in 20th century and unfinished renovation from previous decade. Gotická móda v českých zemích ve 14. století. Vývoj oděvních prvků v českých zemích v letech 1330 -1410 / Gothic Fashion in the Czech Lands in the 14th Century. Development of Clothing Features in the Czech Lands in the Years 1330 -1410

Kuběnová, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
1 ABSTRACT This thesis presents a study of a field of everyday culture - medieval fashion and its development during the reign of Charles IV of Luxembourg and his son Wenceslas in the Czech lands in the years 1330 - 1410. As these fashion trends and changes were exhibited primarily through the clothing of nobility, this thesis focuses exclusively on the environs of the aristocracy and royal court. In addition to written sources and archaeological finds, the fine arts also serve to advance our knowledge of Gothic fashion trends, whose works authentically capture the contemporary clothing styles and changes in all of Europe. This thesis therefore examines, through a methodical analysis, how wall paintings, panel paintings and book illuminations of Czech provenance reflect changes in clothing fashions and tastes in courtly environs during the period of time known as Luxembourg Gothic. This study of primary iconographic sources in authentic historical buildings and galleries was further aided by the creation of an extensive photo archive. This thesis presents a representative sampling of the works from this archive which documents a basic transformation of Czech clothing culture and the creation of a Bohemian style of Gothic fashion, culminating at the turn of the 14th and 15th century and enriching European...

Southern Gothic: Macabre Heroes in Toole's Neon Bible and McCarthy's Child of God

RICHTROVÁ, Tereza January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to compare the protagonists of two novels which are classified as Southern gothic writings: Child of God by Cormac McCarthy, and The Neon Bible by John Kennedy Toole. Although the pivotal characters appear dissimilar, the comparison and analysis of the novels might demonstrate common features and motifs. Studying of Southern gothic phenomena constitutes a background for the analysis, and also the initial part of the thesis. It is focused on a basic characteristic of the genre on the basis of the development of Southern literature. There is an introduction of the most important authors, genres, and typical motifs. The analytical part is prefaced by a reference to the life and work of the writers, as their nature and literary production vary. There is more attention paid to the texts by McCarthy because he has published a larger quantity of books in comparison with Toole. Southern gothic elements are therefore observed and compared in the analysed short novels, and also in other McCarthy's texts. The comparison corresponds to the theoretical ground.

Otázky stylového pluralismu a portálová architektura v okruhu Benedikta Rieda / Questions of Style Pluralism and the Portals from the Circle of Benedikt Ried

Ramešová, Michaela January 2021 (has links)
The submitted dissertation's main object is an in-depth study of the portals created by the lodge of Benedikt Ried at Prague Castle and a group of portals that reflected the lodge's stimuli in Bohemian towns in the first half of the 16th century. The first all'antica portals in Moravia and Italianate works in Prague towns were also researched with the aim to analyse and better understand the contact of local "Gothic" tradition and incoming Italianate forms ca. 1500 in the area of interest on a wider theoretical background. The thesis consists of two parts. First, the key theoretical concepts of how to interpret the contact of the "Gothic" with the "Renaissance" relevant to the object of empirical study are introduced. As recent theoretical thought showed, the tendency to revise the interpretation of formal syncretism and pluralism in European architecture ca. 1500 stemmed, among others, from the need to correct several patterns common in former research methods, i.e. the presumption of stylistic unity, the effort to identify one principle through the "classical stylistic phase" supposed to be common to all artworks of a given time period, and the simultaneous use of the term "Renaissance" for both a set of stylistic features and a historical era connected with the idea of progress. All these were...

Pojem krásný sloh a jeho užívání v české uměnovědné literatuře / The Concept of Beautiful Style and its Use in Czech Literature of Art History

Synecký, Jakub January 2021 (has links)
The work deals with the concept of beautiful style and its use in Czech literature of art history. Jaromír Pečírka introduced the term known from German professional literature to the Czech environment in the 1930s in relation to sculpture. It was applied to the history of Gothic painting by Antonín Matějček. After a short turnaround, associated with the name of Pavel Kropáček, the tradition of using the term was renewed by Jaroslav Pešina, who created a concept valid and recognized to this day. In relation to sculpture, Albert Kutal and his successor Jaromír Homolka had a similar role. The Czech specificity is the application of the term in relation to architecture, which was dealt with mainly by Dobroslav Líbal. Among the younger researchers, the work of Milena Bartlová, Jan Royt, Jan Klípa and Michaela Ottová is followed. The work follows individual concepts and their changes.
