O emprego de práticas adequadas na implantação do vinhedo, principalmente o uso de mudas enxertadas com boa sanidade, é fator essencial para o sucesso da viticultura no Brasil e, em especial, no Sudoeste do Paraná. O objetivo do trabalho foi testar temperatura de estratificação, tipo e época de enxertia para produção de mudas da cultivar Bordô/Paulsen 1103 por enxertia de mesa com estratificação. Para isso foram implantados três experimentos. No primeiro e no segundo experimentos, as estacas do porta-enxerto foram tratadas com ácido indol-butirico (AIB) antes e após a estratificação, respectivamente. Ambos os tratamentos foram realizados em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial de 3 x 2 (temperatura de estratificação x tipo de enxertia), com quatro repetições e dez unidades de observação (estacas enxertadas). O fator temperatura de estratificação teve os níveis 19, 24 e 29 °C e o fator técnica de enxertia foi com garfagem de topo manual e “tipo ômega” com auxílio de alicate especial. O terceiro experimento foi realizado em delineamento experimental blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 4 x 2 (época de enxertia x temperatura de estratificação), com quatro repetições e 20 unidades unidades de observação por parcela. O fator épocas de enxertia foi composto pelos meses de coleta (maio, junho, julho e agosto) e o fator temperatura de estratificação, em dois níveis (19 e 24 ºC). Os experimentos foram conduzidos em condições controladas (BODs e em casa de vegetação). As análises realizadas na saída da estratificação (21 dias após a realização da enxertia) foram a percentagem de formação de calo na região da enxertia e a brotação dos enxertos. Após a entrada na casa de vegetação até aos 70 dias, foi avaliado o desenvolvimento da brotação, com uso da escala fenológica, e a mortalidade das estacas. Aos 120 dias após a estratificação foram avaliados a sobrevivência final das estacas, o desenvolvimento do sistema radicial (número de raízes e matéria seca da raiz), desenvolvimento da parte aérea (área foliar, comprimento da brotação e matéria seca da brotação). A enxertia tipo garfagem de topo apresentou melhores resultados que a tipo ômega; as temperaturas de 19 e 24 ºC facilitam a sobrevivência do enxerto, sendo as mais indicadas para estratificação; o mês de julho é o mais recomendado para realização da enxertia de mesa com estratificação. / The use of appropriate practices in the implementation of a vineyard, especially the use of grafted cuttings with good health, is an essential factor for successful viticulture in Brazil and, in particular, Southweast Paraná. The objective of this work was to test stratification temperature, type and period of grafting, for the propagation of vines, 'Bordô'/'Paulsen 1103', by bench grafting cuttings with stratification. Three experiments were developed to test these objectives. In the first and second experiment, the cuttings of the rootstock were treated with indole-butyric acid (IBA) before and after estratification, respectively. Both treatments were conducted in a randomized block in a factorial 3 x 2 (estratification temperature x grafting type), with four replications and ten units of observation (grafted cuttings). The factor estratification temperature was 19, 24, and 29 °C, while the factor grafting technique either manual top grafting or "omega" with the aid of special pliers. The third experiment was performed in randomized blocks, in a 4 x 2 factorial design, with four replications and 20 units of observation. The factor A was different period of grafting (May, June, July, and August) and the factor B was stratification temperature at two levels (19 and 24 °C). The experiments were conducted under controlled conditions (in growth chambers and in the greenhouse). The parameters evaluated at the end of stratification (21 days after grafting) were: percentage of callus formation in the region of grafting and percentage of sprouting. In the greenhouse we evaluated the development of sprouting, from day one until day 70, using a phenological scale, and measuring cuttings mortality. One hundred and twenty days after stratification we evaluated the survival of the cuttings, the development of the root system (root number and dry weight of root), shoot growth (leaf area, shoot length and dry matter). Top grafting had a higher percentage of viable grafted cuttings than the “omega” technique; temperatures of 19 and 24 °C favored the survival of the graft; while July was the most recommended period for bench grafting with stratification.

Enxertia, potássio e magnésio na nutrição, desenvolvimento e produção de pepino /

Orientador: Rumy Goto / Resumo: Com o objetivo de estudar o efeito de doses de potássio e magnésio sobre o desenvolvimento, produção de frutos, concentração de nutrientes, em diferentes fases fisiológicas do pepino (Cucumis sativus L.) e verificar se o ponto de enxertia fez a função de filtro para esses nutrientes, um experimento foi conduzido em ambiente protegido na Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas da UNESP-Botucatu. Em plantas de pepino hibrido Hokuho enxertadas em abóbora (Cucurbita sp.) híbrido Excite Ikki, e conduzidas em vasos plásticos de 10 litros de capacidade, foram estudadas quatro doses de potássio (2,3 - 4,6 - 6,9 e 9,2 mmolc.dm-3 ) e quatro de magnésio (4,5 - 9,0 - 13,5 - e 18,0 mmolc.dm-3), mais uma testemunha que correspondeu ao pé-franco com a adubação recomendada (4,6 e 9,0 mmolc.dm-3 de K e Mg). O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, com 17 tratamentos (fatorial 4x4+1) e 4 repetições, 5 plantas/parcela, das quais três foram consideradas úteis. De um modo geral verificou-se que a enxertia e a adubação com os diferentes níveis de potássio e magnésio influenciaram o desenvolvimento da planta, a produção de frutos, o estado nutricional nas diferentes fases fisiológicas e a distribuição dos nutrientes na planta ao final do ciclo. As plantas enxertadas se desenvolveram mais que as não enxertadas, porém, a produção de frutos em kg/m2 não aumentou na mesma proporção. No entanto, sob altas doses de potássio e magnésio, as plantas enxertadas se desenvolveram mais, porém, não aumentaram a produção. Hokuho hybrid cucumber plants were grafted over Excite Ikki hybrid squash (Cucurbita sp.) and planted in plastic pots (10 L). Four potassium levels (2.3 - 4.6 - 6.9 and 9.2 mmolc.dm-3) and four magnesium levels (4.5 - 9.0 - 13.5 and 18.0 mmolc.dm-3) were studied in grafted plants and recommended level (4.6 and 9.0 mmolc.dm-3 of K and Mg, respectively) in plants without grafting (standard). Five replicates of five plants per plot were used to evaluate 17 treatments (factorial 4x4+1) in a randomized block design. In general, grafting and different K and Mg levels influenced plant development, fruit yield, nutritional state at different stages and plant nutrient distribution at end of cycle. Grafted plants developed more than non grafted ones, but fruit yield (kg/m2) did not increase at the same proportion. however, under high potassium and magnesium levels grafted plants developed more, but yield were not increased. Tomato and pepper grafting for high tunnel production: effects on yield, compatibility, and plant morphology

However, year-round intensive cultivation and extensive monocropping can lead to a loss of soil quality and the buildup of soilborne pathogens. Many growers are considering grafting to help address the drawbacks of covered agriculture and improve yields. Although many trials have been conducted that examine the ability of rootstock to increase yield or reduce disease, the effect of scion cultivar has yet to be tested, and few studies have attempted to quantitatively assess scion compatibility. In 2016 and 2017, we evaluated ten hybrid, determinate, red slicing tomato scion cultivars for compatibility with ‘Maxifort’ rootstock in a three-season high tunnel in Olathe, KS. While all ten varieties were compatible with ‘Maxifort’, only ‘BHN 589’, ‘Red Deuce’, ‘Skyway’, and ‘Tasti Lee’ were “highly compatible” and showed significant improvements in marketable yield when grafted. Additionally, when ranked by yield, differences between grafted and nongrafted populations suggest that relative compatibility may be inconsistent between varieties. However, a significant inverse relationship between the yield of the nongrafted plants and the percent yield benefit from grafting indicates that the effect of a rootstock like ‘Maxifort’ may not be synergistic, with higher performing nongrafted scion varieties benefitting less from grafting than lower performing varieties. ‘Red Deuce’ and ‘BHN 589’ are productive, and highly compatible grafted varieties with potential for commercial high tunnel production. ‘Primo Red’ benefitted the least from grafting but was the highest performing nongrafted variety (outperforming four of the grafted combinations). Compared to tomatoes, published reports on grafted peppers have been limited and it is unclear whether they provide any advantage in the absence of soilborne disease or environmental stress. Additionally, the use of rootstocks from other solanaceous species outside the Capsicum genus for pepper grafting has not been well explored, though the pool of available rootstock options for peppers would be substantially increased if such graft unions proved to be compatible. The goals of a second project were to identify the utility of grafted pepper (C. annum) plants for commercial high-tunnel production and to explore the potential for graft compatibility between the Capsicum and Solanum genera. We grafted ‘Karisma’ bell peppers onto two Solanum cultivars (‘Maxifort’ and ‘Sweetie’) and three pepper rootstocks (‘Scarface’, ‘Meeting’, and ‘Yaocali’). Five trials were conducted in 2016-2017 and utilized a randomized complete block design in all locations. Plants grafted onto Solanum rootstocks displayed symptoms of delayed incompatibility, including significant (78%-89%) reductions in yield (by weight), 59%-93% less plant growth, and 58% less marketability, as well as malformations at the graft union and higher in-field mortality rates. These symptoms were likely due to differences in mature stem anatomy. Plants grafted to ‘Scarface’ produced 32% greater marketable yield, 15%-18% larger fruit, and 9-12% higher marketability than nongrafted ‘Karisma’. The results for ‘Yaocali’ were similar to ‘Scarface’, though less conclusive. While ‘Yaocali’ and ‘Scarface’ rootstocks may be useful for improving yield in low-stress environments, the use of ‘Meeting’ may be more beneficial for combatting disease.
