The Dimensions Of Perfectionism And Their Relations To Helpless Explanatory StyleSun Selisik, Zeynep Eda 01 January 2003 (has links) (PDF)
This study aimed at examining the association between perfectionism
and helpless explanatory style as a function of gender in a Turkish university
sample. The sample consisted of 331 undergraduate students from 35
departments of Middle East Technical University. Turkish version of
Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS, Oral, 1999) and Depressive
Attribution Style Questionnaire (DASQ, Aydin, 1988a) were used to collect
data. Factor analysis was employed to the MPS scores to investigate the
dimensions of perfectionism as perceived by the participants. MANOVA was conducted to examine a possible relationship between perfectionism and
helpless explanatory style as a function of gender.
Results of the factor analysis revealed four factors, termed self-oriented,
socially prescribed, other-oriented perfectionism, and perfectionist
expectations. With regard to the results of the MANOVA no significant
associations emerged between perfectionism and helpless explanatory style as a function of gender.

Ingrid Winterbach's novels especially the latest novels since Die boek van toeval en toeverlaat are characterised by an unconventional sense of humour. Although the comic aspects of her work are frequently referred to, no systematic research of the specific comic aspects of her work has been undertaken to date, despite humour being a striking part of her work. Almost everyone who conducts research on the comical reflects on the issue that any scientific study of humour usually negates the humour of the subject matter. The many divergent attempts to create a theory of humour in literature were split into three useful groups by Perks (2012). Some theories address incongruency, others degradation, and the third group of theories discusses the relief associated with the comical. This interpretation of the theories of humour is used in this study to discuss the humour in three of Winterbach's novels. Although it is possible to discuss many of the situations that arise in the novels in terms of incongruency, degradation, or relief (often by using all three theories), it is readily apparent that Winterbach's unique sense of humour is not sufficiently captured by using just these theories. To investigate the effect of humour in Winterbach's novels, the interpretation of humour, as suggested by Milan Kundera in Testaments betrayed (1993), is used, wherein the Czech writer describes humour as a specific species of the comic that renders ambiguous everything it touches. This ambiguity that is created by the comical plays a central part in Winterbach's work. / Ingrid Winterbach se romans veral die laaste romans sedert Die boek van toeval en toeverlaat word deur 'n aweregse humorsin gekenmerk. Hoewel daar dikwels na komiese aspekte van haar werk verwys word, is geen stelselmatige ondersoek van spesifiek die komiese aspekte van haar werk tot dusver onderneem nie, terwyl dit 'n besonder opvallende kenmerk van Winterbach se werk is. Byna almal wat oor die komiese navorsing doen, wys op die probleem wat daarmee ontstaan aangesien 'n wetenskaplike studie juis dikwels die komiese ondermyn. Die talle uiteenlopende pogings om die komiese in letterkunde te teoretiseer, word deur Perks (2012) op 'n nuttige wyse in drie groepe gedeel. Twenty-one special education children failing to persist after failure on arithmetic problems were given 15 days of treatment in three arithmetic training programs, equivalent in all respects except that success experiences occurred either 46.2%, 76.9%, or 100% of the time. Following training, children in both the 46.2% and 100% reinforcement, groups continued to show serious performance deterioration following failure, while children in the 76.9% group showed marked improvement. An inventory measuring attributions to failure before and after training indicated that the 76.9% reinforcement group showed significantly greater tendency to attribute failure to lack of effort than did either of the other two groups.

nÃo hà / O presente estudo consiste na investigaÃÃo sobre a memÃria histÃrica educativa do Orfanato Jesus Maria JosÃ, localizado na Cidade de Juazeiro do Norte-CE, onde buscamos localizar as transformaÃÃes impostas pelo tempo, no que se refere Ãs prÃticas educativas, sua estrutura e funcionamento, situando-as de forma comparativa com as ideias socialmente circundantes de acolhimento à infÃncia pobre ou desvalida, em Ãmbito nacional e internacional, no perÃodo que decorre de 1916 a 2016. Uma InstituiÃÃo idealizada pelo Padre CÃcero RomÃo Batista, com o propÃsito de recolhimento e educaÃÃo para meninas ÃrfÃs pobres ou âdesvalidasâ. A instituiÃÃo de inÃcio foi coordenada pelas Beatas do Juazeiro no ano de 1916 a 1935, quando assumem as Filhas de Santa Teresa de Jesus permanecendo atà os dias atuais, completando (100) cem anos de existÃncia. Buscamos problematizar os cem anos da sua existÃncia, dando Ãnfase Ãs permanÃncias e rupturas, no seu processo histÃrico educacional durante esse perÃodo. The present study consists of the investigation of the educational historical memory of the Jesus Maria Jose Orphanage, located in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, CE, where we seek to locate the transformations imposed by time, in relation to educational practices, its structure and functioning, In a comparative way with the socially surrounding ideas of welcoming poor or helpless childhood, nationally and internationally, in the period from 1916 to 2016. An institution designed by Father CÃcero RomÃo Batista, with the purpose of gathering and educating Poor or "helpless" orphan girls. The initiating institution was coordinated by the Beatas of Juazeiro from 1916 to 1935, when they assumed the Daughters of St. Teresa of Jesus, remaining until the present day, completing (100) one hundred years of existence. We seek to problematize the hundred years of its existence, emphasizing the permanences and ruptures, in its historical educational process during this period. For this, we list the categories History of educational institutions, History of women in educational action, History of poor or "helpless" childhood. The methodology was based on qualitative research, supported by bibliographic, documentary and oral history studies. It was used the unstructured interview, with agents participating in the project including the subjects of the present time. Through the studies and the interviews carried out, we perceive some ruptures and permanences, both in the structural process and in the actions developed by its administrators. Of the ruptures, we emphasize three moments: The change of the Beatas in 1935 for the Daughters of Santa Teresa de Jesus; The installation of a Primary School in a room of the Orphanage, with the sisters having to adapt to a new educational methodology; When the school was closed, becoming the boarding school institution, becoming a philanthropic institution for welfare purposes, serving both sexes. During this process one can perceive changes, also in the educational process, according to the social transformations. We realize that the institution still has aspects of its idealization; the institution continues to focus on the educational process, with projects focused on the needy population, from its idealization to the present day, which we characterize as historical permanences that have resisted for a century.

New Criminal code came into power in 2003. It changed the concept of indecent assault. The new modern concept of indecent assault is more related to the changes in society, but sometimes is difficult to apply, because of its novelty and indetermination. Therefore it is necessary to determine the legal concept of indecent assault in order to avoid controversial evaluation of sexual offences and their elements of proof. So the aim of this study is to analyse indecent assault from historical point of view, to describe forms of indecent assault and aggravating circumstances. The proposed review of indecent assault contains legal evaluation of all attributions according to their legal evaluation in Lithuanian and foreign criminal law. Theoretical evaluation of indecent assault is linked to the examples of court’s practise by underlining controversial aspects of concept of indecent assault and proposing possible ways to define them.
