Two mountain huts : architecture of interactive environments through the development of the prototype / Title on signature page: Architecture of interactive environments through the development of the prototype

Kobets-Singkh, Olena January 2008 (has links)
To build for living is to understand that built form exists only in relationship to the life that occupies it and that human life is better when it is in constant interaction with the built environment; we design it, build it, and change it as we design, build, and change our selves. Making your own place and changing it over time is an important component of living one's life to its fullest. To explore these issues, designs were made for an adaptable building type - the "mountain hut," a temporary accommodation for its wandering inhabitants. Designing it twice, as well as relocating the initial building type across the globe, from the mountains of Sierra Nevada to the Himalayas in Nepal, provided an opportunity to compare and understand the influences of local environmental and cultural conditions on the building's adaptability, as well as the level of interactivity its inhabitants could experience as they occupied and transformed the dwelling. Both designs incorporate sustainable design principles, which strengthen the overall comparison of climatic responses and the use of local materials and building technologies. / Department of Architecture

Stavba v krajině - Winery / Architecture in Landscape – Winery

Balaščáková, Petra January 2017 (has links)
Winery as a materialization of wine making and wine consuming process is designed in the landscape of Strachotin, amongst the wineyard area. A huge water pond Vodne Dielo Nove Mlyny and the hillsde of Palava on the horizon become a crucial part of the whole concept. It´s goal is to sensitively set the building into the natural landscape and to connect the area with the existing wine roads that are crossing nearby. Another important aim is to concisely include the significance of a winery as a process of connecting people with each another and connecting of oneself with nature. The design is an architectural interpretation of the set goals.

Variáveis pedogeoquímicas e mineralógicas na identificação de fontes de sedimentos em uma bacia hidrográfica de encosta / Pedogeochemical and mineralogical variables in the identification of sources of sediments in a basin of hillside

Miguel, Pablo 19 April 2013 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Inadequate land use, ignoring its agricultural fitness can, in a short time, transform thousands of hectares in fragile systems highly susceptible to degradation processes. The use of the fingerprinting method in the identification of sediment sources has been efficient and there are many studies in the international literature proving its effectiveness. In Brazil, the studies in the matter are still incipient, but have demonstrated efficiency in detecting changes in the proportion of contribution of the sources in the production of sediments. Among the variables used in this method, there are some minerals that are used as tracers of soil erosion, due to their high stability in the environment and magnetism property. However, the use of mineralogy together with models of erosion prediction as well as in the identification of sources of sediment production is not common. The objective of this work was to estimate the proportion of contribution of two groups of sources, road+channels+grid and superficial+subsuperficial, in the production of sediments in a watershed slope. For this purpose, two groups of variables were tested, pedogeochemical and pedogeochemical+mineralogical to compose the prediction models. For the identification of the sources the fingerprinting method was used, which compares the soils of different sources and the sediments that are found in suspension in the drainage channel, using tracing variables. It was possible to identify the contribution of each one of the groups of sources of sediment production in the Vacacaí-Mirim River basin, except in the T1point. In this point the scale was determining in the result, due to the low number of samples of this sub-basin. The greatest contributions in the production of sediments came from superficial erosion of the soil. The use of an only group of variables to compose the model of identification of sources, suppressing variables that generate uncertainty, has led to more coherence in the presented results and reduced the space-time variability of the analysis. The roads were presented as a potential source of erosion in the basin. The adding of mineralogical variables improved the results, decreasing the errors. However, using only one group of variables for the prediction model did not lead to any significant change in the results.

Architecture: In the Line of Economy

Baumbach, Robert Warren 12 December 1997 (has links)
Three houses are presented in this book. Each house has been designed with distinct site parameters with the expectation that obvious differences in form would occur. The focus of this investigation lies within the significant parallels that exist between the projects and how those parallels relate to the principles that constitute a framework of operation for a designer. / Master of Architecture

Characterization of spaces and conservation practices of family production systems in Colombia : which contributions to landscape conservation?

The research aims to establish how the modes of management of natural and social resources of family farmers whose holdings are generally small, have contributed to the construction of sustainable production systems and landscapes.Which are the strategies developed these producers to guarantee the production and reproduction conditions of their farms, their families, and conservation of natural resources? And, is it possible to discover in these strategies, elements for the design of sustainable systems? Our study was carried out in a tropical zone of the Northern Andes, located in Colombia in the municipalities of Riosucio, Supia, Department of Caldas. During the crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s coffee producers reacted in various ways. A particularly interesting reaction, we looked at a depth is the proposal of the Association of indigenous and peasant producers of Riosucio, Supia ASPROINCA: re-arrangement of productive systems, pursuit of sustainability through diversification of strategies supported in an agro ecological approach , integrated management of production systems, and the strengthening of human and social capitals. Sustainability building of production systems and landscapes implies a multiplicity of relations between social and ecological processes at different temporal and spatial scales. Beyond farm units, Asproinca proposal expands to the watershed and regional landscape, this implies the coexistence with other forms of production, the search for agreements for the management of common pool resources, in particular water, and the implementation of conservation practices at those levels.

Brownfieldy v ČR v návaznosti na historické centrum / Brownfields in the Czech Republic in connection with historical centers

Murárová, Lucia January 2019 (has links)
The subject of the Diploma thesis is an urban study in the area of the former part of Tepna in Náchod. The Tepna area is largely after demolition and is currently dilapidating. This area has the potential for development and use, located within a short walking distance from the historic city center and at the same time from the residential area in the northern part of Náchod. Above the solved area is the castle, which is a dominant and a city landmark. The aim of the proposal was to use the potential of the territory at most, but at the same time to approach the surrounding landscape sensitively and to connect the urban character of the surrounding urban structure of the city and, conversely, the existing buildings of unclosed blocks are supplemented by new development.
