Jana Borecká Department: of pedagogy, Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University in Prague Field of study: Pedagogy Head of the thesis: PhDr. Hana Krykorková, CSc. Number of pages: 108 Year of thesis defence: 2012 The key words: Identity Self Self - assurance Self - concept Self - esteem This thesis was based on my long interest in pedagogy and educational psychology. I was also inspired by my profession - a teacher, when I felt how important it is to understand people, their behavior and experience, and how often we are wrong and how a lack of knowledge about people can lead to wrong conclusions. Topis of this thesis is a big issue, it is a self-concept with a focus on the formation of pupils in the school context. The theoretical part of this thesis provides chapter, where I define the self-concept. I present different versions of this construct understanding and a lack of uniformity and diversity of views. Americká identita v dílech Davida Mameta a Sama Sheparda / The American Identity in the Works of David Mamet and Sam Shepard

Sičák, Michal January 2012 (has links)
In my thesis I focused on the matter of the relationship of Americans during the decades after World War II to their own identity, as well as to the myths of the West or consumer society. I wanted to compare these aspects on plays by Sam Shepard and David Mamet, two playwrights concerned with similar issues in 1960s and 1970s. In the theoretical part of the thesis I concentrated on the development of the American theater off Broadway. I described three significant theater groups of the era and the differences in their approach. I based the comparison of the plays on Richard Schechner's performance theory and J. L. Austin's theory of the so-called "performatives." Later I discussed the matters of rituals and myths in the postmodern society where I based my theory especially on Victor Turner's and Marie Maclean's work. The two main chapters are dealing with comparing two plays by each author with regard to the way Shepard and Mamet work with rituals and modern myths. Those are considered commonplace, insufficient, almost misleading in a modern society, and the plays' characters thus cannot cope with the society. They end up being on its outer edge and do not seem to be able to find the way back. As a result of the comparison of the plays based on the theoretical part I concluded that even though from the...

"Filmy s romským přízvukem": Současný stav romské kinematografie a její perspektiva / "Romani Accented Movies": Current Situation of Romani Cinema and Its future Perspective

Dvorská, Františka January 2011 (has links)
Summary: "Romani Accented Movies": Current situation of Romani Cinema and Its future Perspective The main theoretical approach that underpins this work is based on the concept of an accented cinema formulated by the Iranian film scholar Hamid Naficy. On the basis of his methodological tools the author examines some elements of the "accented style" as they assert themselves in the Roma cinema, and comes to the conclusion that already on a small sample of ten Romani filmmakers we can see certain components that are more or less common to all featured artists. Foremost there is shared existence in the "interspace", which is moreover in some aspects different from the exile or other diaspora filmmakers' "boundary" existence, given by the specific status of the Roma minority in society. Roma cinema is characterized by autobiographical approach and author's self-inscription into the story. From the production point of view these films are mostly alternative, low-budget or art-house ones. Romani cinema is most often supported by public broadcasters, subsidies from the state, nonprofit organizations or small production companies. Staffs are often formed on friendship or family ties, the filmmakers usually work with the similar team of people, hold multiple positions themselves and also are present at different...

Židovská identita v próze Ludwiga Windera / Jewish Identity in the Prose of Ludwig Winder

Prouzová, Johana January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is an interpretation of three prose works of a Prague Jewish German Author, Ludwig Winder (1889 - 1946). The introduction describes cultural and social milieu of the Jewish community in the beginning of the 20th century in Bohemia and Moravia. The Jewish identity was determined by three general factors: The assimilation of Jewish inhabitants arising from Enlightenments, anti-Semitism and birth of Zionism. The position of Czech Jewry was even more complicated due to the background of the society at the time, including Conflicts between Czechs and Germans in the multinational Monarchy and later on also in Czechoslovakia. Ludwig Winder deals with this subject in his book, 'Die Geschichte meines Vaters' (1946, published 2000). His novel, 'Die jüdische Orgel' (1922), talks about the specific discrepancies between the orthodox Jewish milieu of a small Moravian village and also a modern city at the turn of the 20th century. The novel points out a fight between the father and his son and the influence of rigid religious upbringings in relation of the protagonist to Judaism. In the short story 'Hugo. Tragödie eines Knaben' (1924), the work describes a lonely Jewish child, who no longer lives in his Jewish community, but in a secular society and outlines his upbringing and life....

Vliv vzdělání na schopnost maskovat svůj hlas / The effect of education on the ability to disguise one's voice

Vyhnálková, Lenka January 2013 (has links)
(in English): Voice disguise can potentially occur in every utterance that is associated with any criminal case. In order to identify the perpetrator it is necessary to analyze the speech and understand how the different types of voice disguise can affect the speaker's voice qualities. This thesis focuses on the ability of voice disguise, portraying three groups of speakers in relation to their educational background. The aim of this work is to determine the strategies adopted by the speaker to conceal his/her identity and furthermore it poses the question whether differences among the three groups of speakers, their choice of strategy and its inherent success can be found. The basis for this research stems from 86 recordings which were undertaken in Pilsen and Prague with 43 young people aged 20 to 31. Two read utterances, one undisguised and the other freely disguised, were obtained from each of the participants and were compared with each other. The results show that the preferred forms of voice disguise appeared to involve changes in phonation - especially decrease or increase of fundamental frequency of the speaker's voice. Among the three groups of speakers, their choice and the success of the chosen strategy only minor differences could be found, yet for a final confirmation of this...
