To each electoral campaign, it comes increasing the number of religious candidates who entitle themselves"God´s representatives" with the intention to get the votes of a considerable layer of the evangelical, catholic, of matrix afro-Brazilian or other minority religious denominations population. Only in the Rio Grande do Sul, they had been more than the 60 adepts (among members and leaderships) of some religious creed that had presented themselves as candidates to deputy in the 2006 elections. The research, of sociological character, has the intention of discover the real motivations that stimulate the religious denominations and their leaderships to participate of the field politician-partisan, through the analysis of some churches documents, as well as of periodicals, magazines, books, researches in the internet and also through the accomplishment of halfstructuralized and recorded interviews with more than fifteen"religious" candidates, searching illustrate the demarcated scene in the politic campaign of 2006, in the Rio Grande do Sul. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma investigação sociológica a partir da análise da participação de lideranças religiosas (pastores, padres, pais e mães-de-santo, leigos) como candidatos a deputado estadual e federal no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, nas eleições de 2006. A cada pleito eleitoral, vem crescendo o número de candidatos religiosos que se dizem “representantes de Deus” com a intenção de obter os votos de uma camada considerável da população evangélica, católica, de matriz afro-brasileira ou de outras denominações religiosas minoritárias. Somente no Rio Grande do Sul, foram mais de 60 os adeptos (entre membros e lideranças) de algum credo religioso que se apresentaram como candidatos a deputado nas eleições de 2006. A pesquisa de caráter sociológico tem a intenção de, desvelar as motivações que impulsionaram as denominações religiosas e suas lideranças a participarem do campo políticopartidário, através da análise de documentos de algumas Igrejas, bem como de periódicos, jornais, revistas, livros, pesquisas na internet e da realização de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e gravadas com mais de 24 candidatos “religiosos”, buscando ilustrar o cenário demarcado na campanha política do pleito eleitoral de 2006 no Rio Grande do Sul.

Para isso, parte-se da análise do envolvimento político da Comissão Brasileira Justiça e Paz (CBJP), da Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil, em espaços de contestação política da sociedade civil, tomando como exemplo o caso de sua participação no Fórum Social Mundial (FSM). A investigação baseia-se sobre as abordagens que destacam o papel dos valores e da identidade coletiva, bem como da mobilização de repertórios organizacionais e lideranças no estudo de movimentos socias. A pesquisa empírica revela que o envolvimento político histórico de movimentos sociais ligados à Igreja Católica formou uma identidade coletiva específica entre seus militantes, ancorada sobre os valores e a estrutura organizacional da Igreja, que estimula o engajamento político de organizações como a CBJP em espaços de crítica social. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This study aims at contributing for the understanding of the relation between religion and political engagement, through the investigation of how the Catholic collective identity and values can influence political mobilization. The political involvement of the Brazilian Commission for Justice and Peace (CBJP), of the National Conference of the Bishops of Brazil, in the civil society spaces of contention are analyzed, taking as example its participation on the World Social Forum (WSF). The investigation is based on approaches that emphasize the role of collective identity and values as well as of the mobilization of organizational repertoires and leaderships in the study of social movements. The empiric research shows that the historical political engagement of social movements related to the Catholic Church created a specific collective identity among its activists, anchored upon the values and organizational structure of the Church, which stimulates the political engagement of organizations, such as the CBJP, in spaces of social criticism.

Formado nos meios daquilo que seria o berço da Reforma Romanizadora, o Seminário Diocesano de São Paulo, Pe Alberto ascendeu rapidamente ao cargo de Vigário Geral Forense, posto que lhe rendeu a liderança do clero paranaense, mediante a qual o projetou na carreira política. Nos seus dois primeiros mandatos como Deputado Estadual, Pe Alberto apresentou vários Projetos de Lei, dentre os quais destacamos os mais importantes, todos aprovados: - Sobre a aposentadoria dos funcionários públicos; - Sobre alteração no plano e tabela das loterias para subvencionar o término da construção da Igreja Matriz, bem como a construção do Seminário Diocesano do Paraná e a Fundação da sua Diocese; - Sobre o regimento interno da Casa Legislativa; - Reforma do Ensino Público. Para demonstrar a atuação de Pe Alberto na Assembléia Legislativa, dividimos a pesquisa em três capítulos: 1) Igreja e política no tempo do Império e República; 2) Igreja e política no Paraná no século XIX; 3) A vida político-parlamentar de Pe Alberto no Paraná. Nosso problema gira em torno da idéia de que Pe. Alberto foi o grande responsável pela implantação do ultramontanismo no Paraná, através da sua atuação como deputado estadual / We portrayed here, the public life of Pe.
