<p> Systems of differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) arise in applications such as circuit simulation, models of chemical processes, optimal control, and multi-body dynamics. Informally, the index of a DAE is the number of differentiations needed to convert it to an ordinary differential equation. The index generally indicates the difficulty of solving a DAE problem. The higher the index of a DAE, the more difficult it is to solve it numerically.</p> <p> Structural index analysis plays a crucial role in solving DAE problems. In this thesis, we present two methods for index analysis, namely, Pryce's structural analysis (SA) and Linninger's symbolic-numeric (SN) analysis. We provide a Matlab tool implementing these two approaches: an Automatic Structural Index Analyzer (ASIA). We discuss the underlying algorithms, which include generating a signature matrix and computing SA index, computing a system Jacobian, and generating a symbolic-numeric matrix and computing SN index. We also present implementation issues and illustrate how ASIA is used.</p> <p> Numerical experiments show that ASIA can produce reliable structural information. We also show examples on which structural analysis fails, and how ASIA detects such situations.<p> / Thesis / Master of Science (MSc)

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the business economics, to assess the current company strategy and to find such a strategy which will result in the overall improvement and maintenance of the position in the market while rendering the given quality of the services not only in a short period of time but also in a long-term one. Another aim was to optimize costs for a longer time horizon.

The master's thesis deals with financial analysis in company XYZ, Ltd in years 2007 – 2013. Theoretical part is focused on the description of the financial analysis, internal and external business environment. Theoretical part describes the each parameter, which is used in the financial analysis. In the practical part is analyzed the company XYZ Ltd of the financial activities on the basis of information from public and private sources. From the obtained results are designed options and recommendations to improve the company financial situation.

This master’s thesis is focused on an evaluation of certain financial situation. In the first part theoretical methods used in the financial analysis are described. The second part consists of a presentation of the company, its field of activity and developed financial analysis. Measures leading to an improvement of company’s economy are presented in the last part of this thesis.

Most indexes use a cap-weighted strategy as the asset allocation method. Many researchers suggest that although the cap-weighted strategy often serves as an appropriate surrogate to the market portfolio, it cannot consistently outperform other portfolio weighting strategies. The main reasons behind it would be related to the market movement and the underlying volatility. It is possible to narrow down the scope of the research by focusing on an industry index as was done in this research. The focus would be on the mining index of Indonesia. Comparisons will be done between the established index to other portfolio weighting schemes, namely the equally weighted portfolio and the minimum variance portfolio. The results of the research was that the index was not quite efficient, both on the returns and the Sharpe or information ratio aspect. There are many possible reasons behind this, but the most possible reasons would be that the stocks included do not contribute to diversification, over focus on the coal industry, lack of rebalancing or restructuring, in addition to the market itself. The implication of this research would be that stock exclusion might also contribute to risk minimization.

At the time of the global economic crisis, the successful management of the company depends on the ability of the company management and the quality of information upon which are decision making. A range of methods for evaluating the current situation and provide the basis for effective management firm offering financial analysis. For a comprehensive view of the enterprise and capture all acting influences is also a suitable supplement the knowledge identified from the external and internal environment of the company. Measures assembled on this substrate have a chance of success.

The thesis was focused on the analysis and evaluation of the efficiency of the chosen company using data processed with financial and factor analysis. The improved results were due to their better predicative abilities compared to the determined values of a competing company.

This thesis deals with the evaluation of performance and financial health of the company Avanta Systeme from 2006 to 2010. Based on its financial and strategic analyses and a comparison of its results with two competing companies and average values in the respective branch of industry, suggestions to improve the firm's situation are presented.

The main objective of these thesis was to describe the theoreticle principles of the financial analysis, its function, the value of the outcome and its application possibilities. Apply this method on a czech trade company, describe the outcome and suggest recommended steps.
