Mají devizové rezervy centrálních bank dopad na inflaci? / Do Central Bank FX Reserves Matter for Inflation?Keblúšek, Martin January 2020 (has links)
01 Abstract Foreign exchange reserves are a useful tool and a buffer but maintaining an amount that is too large can be costly to the economy. Recent accumulation of these reserves points to the importance of this topic. This thesis focuses on one specific part of the effect of FX reserves on the economy - the inflation. I use panel data for 74 countries from the year 1996 to the year 2017. There is a certain degree of model uncertainty for which this thesis accounts for by using Bayesian model averaging (BMA) estimation technique. The findings from my model averaging estimations show FX reserves to not be of importance for inflation determination with close to no change when altering lags, variables, when limiting the sample to fixed FX regimes nor when limiting the sample to inflation targeting regimes. The most important variables are estimated to be a central bank financial strength proxy, exchange rate depreciation, money supply, inflation targeting, and capital account openness. These results are robust to lag changes, prior changes, and for the most part remain the same when Pooled OLS is used.

Oprávněnost intervencí ČNB na devizovém trhuHynková, Marie January 2018 (has links)
Hynková, M. The eligibility of the CNB interventions in the foreign exchange mar-ket. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2018. This diploma thesis deals with the monetary policy of the Czech National Bank after the financial crisis. The monetary policy of the CNB is compared with doings of the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank. Attention is paid to the monetary policy of the CNB and to the reasons why the CNB has provided inter-ventions on the foreign exchange market in order to depreciate the CZK/EUR ex-change rate. The diploma thesis described in detail foreign exchange interventi-ons, which the CNB acceded on November 7, 2013, and subsequently abandoned them on April 6, 2017. The CNB wanted to influence the impending deflationary development in the country, so the diploma thesis also deals with the consequen-ces caused by the use of this non-conventional tool. The work also evaluates the benefits and costs of foreign exchange interventions. The empirical part of the diploma thesis demonstrates the relationship of inflation and the exchange rate CZK/EUR. There is also an appreciation of factors influencing the development of inflation during the intervention period.

Mikroekonomická Analýza Veřejných Politik / Microeconomic Analysis for Evidence-Based PolicyJanský, Petr January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation thesis is focused on the microeconomic analysis of public policy in the Czech Republic. It consists of three parts, the first two parts deal with the analysis of tax policy; the third part of this thesis is focused on inflation differentials. The first chapter deals with the analysis of value added tax. The rates of value added tax (VAT) have recently changed in the Czech Republic, and I simulate the impact of these reforms. They are an example of changes in indirect taxes that change the prices of goods and services, to which households can respond by adjusting their expenditures. I first estimate the behavioural response of consumers to price changes in the Czech Republic by applying a consumer demand model of the quadratic almost ideal system (QUAIDS) on the basis of the Czech Statistical Office household expenditure and price data for the period from 2001 to 2011. I derive estimates of own- and cross-price and income elasticities for individual households. I then use these elasticities to estimate the impact of the changes in VAT rates that were proposed or implemented between 2011 and 2013, on households' quantity demanded and government revenues. One of the main findings is that the estimated increases in government revenues that take the consumer responses into account are...

Phillipsova křivka z pohledu analýzy časových řad v České republice a Německu / Phillips curve verification by time series analysis of Czech republic and GermanyKrál, Ondřej January 2017 (has links)
Government fiscal and monetary policy has long been based on the theory that was neither proven nor refuted since its origination. The original form of the Phillips curve has undergone significant modifications but its relevance remains questionable. This thesis examines the correlation between inflation and unemployment observed in the Czech Republic and Germany over the last twenty years. The validity of the theory is tested by advanced methods of time series analysis in the R environment. All the variables are gradually tested which results in the assessment of the correlation between the time series. The outcome of the testing is presented for both countries and a comparison at international level is drawn. Is is discovered that both of the countries have dependencies in their data. Czech republic has significant dependency in both ways, for Germany is the dependency significantly weaker and only in one way.
