Preparing business students for cooperation in multidisciplinary new venture teams: empirical insights from a business planning course

Lüthje, Christian, Prügl, Reinhard Wilhelm January 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Interdisciplinary cooperation among people trained in technical and economic fields has been identified as an important success factor in new venture teams. However, empirical findings also indicate that individuals often refuse to engage in close and trustful relationships with representatives of other disciplines. Thus the question arises whether education programs on interdisciplinary cooperation may be suitable to prepare students for future activities in multifunctional business start-up teams. In this study, we investigate the psychological effects of an interdisciplinary business planning course held at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration with the intention of promoting cooperation between technology-oriented professionals and business management students. The findings show that this course experience changes the students' attitudinal beliefs with respect to representatives of the technical discipline by reducing stereotypical assumptions. At the same time, the course fosters awareness of the challenges involved in cross-disciplinary cooperation. The more students communicate with their technical counterparts and the more they familiarize themselves with the technical aspects of the project, the stronger these effects become.(author's abstract)

A general nurse may, without clinical supervision, administer medicinal products with the exception of intravenous injections (IV) or infusions in newborns and children under 3 years of age and with the exception of radiopharmaceuticals. This activity is regulated in Decree No. 55/2011 Coll. by Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The preparation and administration of the medicinal product is an integral part of the everyday practice of a l nurse; however, the dimensions of this procedure are very broad, and it does not start and end with the administration of the prescribed medicinal product. In the wider context, this is a multi-disciplinary process, in which other health professionals can participate with their well-founded roles. Determining individual roles and collaboration in the multi-disciplinary team composed of a doctor, a nurse and a clinical pharmacist has an effect on the correct pharmacological treatment of the patient. Of all professions, nurses spend time with patients. 40 % of their time administering medications; therefore, they play a key role in the reduction of medication errors. (Miller et all, 2016). Problematika ošetřovatelské péče v traumacentrech České republiky / Nursing care in trauma centras in the Czech Republic

POLANOVÁ, Alena January 2010 (has links)
Abstract The thesis deals with the issues of nursing care in trauma centres in the Czech Republic. Injuries requiring complex and multidisciplinary treatment apart from surgery therapy are still more frequent nowadays. This is why trauma centres have been established in the Czech Republic. Their establishment increases demands for caring staff of non-physician fields. These increasing demands are of mental and physical character and of course demands for further education. The aim of the thesis was to find what opportunities nurses of trauma centres have in the field of further education, what are their biggest problems and how they cope with mental and physical stress in their work. The following hypotheses were set upon qualitative research in the form of unstructured interviews with nurses of trauma centres. Hypothesis 1: Nurses working in trauma centres prefer specialization education to tertiary education. Hypothesis 2: Nurses working in trauma centres cooperate with nurses from other clinical branches on provision of nursing care. Hypothesis 3: Nurses working in trauma centres get education not only in traumatology, but also in further clinical fields. Hypothesis 4: Nurses working in trauma centres cope with mental stress. Hypothesis 5: Nurses working in trauma centres cope with physical stress. Quantitative research in the form of questionnaires was applied on confirmation or refutation of the hypotheses. The research sample consisted of nurses working in trauma centres in the Czech Republic. Upon evaluation of the results hypotheses 1, 2 and 5 were confirmed and hypotheses 3 and 4 were refuted. The research results confirm that the work of nurses in trauma centres is hard in terms of mental and physical stress. There are still some reserves in further education of nurses not only on the part of the top managements but also on the part of the health care staff themselves. The thesis result may help in recruiting new staff to departments where the expected psychical and physical intensity might be an incentive to the care about an employee in the field of mental hygiene and improvement of interdisciplinary cooperation in trauma centres in the Czech Republic.

Opsøgende Psykoseteam (ACT-model) - en tværfaglig teambaseret intervention : Om modeltrofasthed og oplevelsen af reduktion af kompleksitet / Outreach PsychosisTeam(ACT) model: a multi-disciplinary team-based intervention about fidelity and the experience of reducing complexity.

Kalmark, Morten January 2014 (has links)
Teammedlemmerne i danske ACT-teams evner at arbejde i teams. Establishment of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) was created in recognition that psychiatric hospitals have not adequately been able to restore health. Based on the chronic mentally ill, this study focused on the Outreach Psychosis Team by studying the working method ACT. Health and social services are increasingly willing to accept ACT as an organized and functional method for prevention and health promotion. Mentally ill people need a working model in which a competent assistant can support the patient in comprehending everyday life and form a meaningful basis for dealing with life. Aim: This study aimed to gain more knowledge about how ACT teams in Denmark operate in a hectic schedule, and determine whether teams adhere to the ACT model. Method: The study highlighted ACT intervention using a structured electronic survey and subsequent qualitative content analysis. However, most of the collected quantitative data was rejected due to a low response rate . Results:The study included 72 respondents, 31 working in Region Hovedstaden, 12 in Region Sjælland 11 in Region Syddanmark, 2 in Region Midtjylland, and 16 in Region Nordjylland. ACT teams in Denmark include 33 teams in Region Hovedstaden, 1 in Region Sjælland, 8 in Region Syddanmark, 11 in Region Midtjylland, and 4 in Region Nordjylland. The teams work differently and with a different composition and function than the original US model, but they have proven their functionality for more than 10 years. ACT includes salutogenesis in its working methods, and focuses on resources and on improving health. Moreover, ACT is proactive and assertive in dealing with clients. Conclusion: Psychiatry must treat clients wherever they are intheir own lives with offers that are available, consistent, and meaningful to each person on his way to a good life without or in spite of illness. ACT in Denmark has shown that it considers the needs of both clients (i.e., working psychiatry and society), and the working method efficiently reduces the complexity of health care and social work. Team members appreciate the working method. Members of Danish ACT teams are capable of working in teams, and they experience interdisciplinary collaboration as meaningful and manageable. Because working in an ACT team is attractive, it is possible to recruit competent members. Services provided by ACT teams include prevention, care, treatment, rehabilitation, an increased sense of accessibility, coordination and continuity, and decreased complexity. The Danish ACT teams do not strictly adhere to the original ACT model, but rather have adapted to Danish conditions and limitations. Abroad, ACT reduces complexity and ensures greater consistency in mental health work. They do not have complete authority. Currently, ACT is being developed and adjusted to a Danish context /
ISBN 978-91-982280-3-6
