Trubka v období klasicismu, významní int erpreti tohoto období / Trumpet in the classicism period, important interprets of this period

The main goal of this thesis is to create a complex review of the classicism period mainly focused on musicians who played trumpet during this period and played concerts in Czech region and sorrounding area. Sources of this thesis are publications, lexicons and other records describing work of interprets. Information were mailny sourced from account books and notes about concerts and music activities in church. This thesis is further focused on connection of the music life and the political situation. Life conditions and salary of czech musicians is also desribed. This information was mostly sourced from notes about musicians working in Olomouc city - center of Moravia and of the Silesian administrative area. Places where chateau orchestras existed are also described. This thesis also describes the practically last important part of evolution of the brass instruments.

The aim of this work is to describe the development of Spanish piano music during the nineteenth and early twentieth century. Individual chapters are devoted to specific authors, who are exponents of this period, and to explain in detail their style and their most important works, within the contemporary political and social context, both in Spain and in Europe. The first chapter also deals with more historical development of Spain and describes a social movement operating across the continent. At the end, I summarize the most important conclusions.

In my master thesis, i focused on important famous czech and world tuba players. My goal was to gather as much information about the development and history of tuba playing as possible. In the thesis, i strived to express them honestly and understandably. The thesis is divided into four main chapters and each one of them contains subchapters. The first chapter is devoted to famous Czech tuba players. The second chapter talks about the leading European tuba players. The third chapter is called ?Tuba in north America and Canada?, whereas the last chapter is focused on the foremost tuba players and pedagogues of Asia and Australia.

Významní harfisté 20. století / The important harpists of the 20th century

This work is dedicated to the six most important male harpists of the 20th century. Each chapter is dedicated to one of the mentioned artists and it showes how they contributed to the development of harp art. The last chapter compares their contributions in the fields of composing, teaching and interpretation. Marcel Tournier enriched harp repertoire and trained many harpists; Grandjany and Salzedo brought French harp school to the United States of America and developed it in different directions. Zabaleta, world known performer, introduced the audience with the new repertoire, but also with harp in general. Alberto and Victor Salvi, started their careers similarly, but Alberto proceeded as a performer and Victor founded one of the world's most important harp factories, which is successfully runned until these days.

The Czech Nonet was faunded in 1924 by a group of students of the Prague Conservatory and it is one of the longest continuously performing chamber ensemble in the world. The ensemble´s instrumentation is based on Spohr´s Grand Nonetto Op.31: violin, viola, cello, contrabass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn. The Czech Nonet was quickly recognized as both an important interpreter of classic repertoire and an ardent champion of new music, inspiring the composition of more than 300 works by some of the greatest living composers, including Prokofiev, Lutoslawski, Martinů, etc. The Czech Nonet has made numerous concert tours round Europe ( Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and France), North and South Americas, Japan, Africa and has performed at many world-famous music platforms, such as : Musikverein Vienna, Montreaux Auditorium Starvinskij, the Munich Herkulessaal, the Auditorio de Zaragoza, the Lyon Auditorium, the Washington Library of Congress, the Vancouver Playhouse,the Dvořák hall at the Prague Rudolphinum etc. The Czech Nonet´s rich discography has been recorded by the Supraphon, Panton and Harmonia Mundi recording companies on forty-five LP´s and CD´s.

Master´s Thesis - French Harp Virtuoses and Their Compossitional Contribution - is focused on a harpist, since the invention of single action harp, starting with Jean-Pierre Bauer to Dominiga Bouchaud, the harpist who represents the second half of the twentieth century. These artists often came from harpist families in which this craft ( harp), like in other fields was inherited to next genaration. The French virtuoses were active solo and chamber players, pedagogues, theorists and innovators of harp mechanism. They contributed to the expansion of harp repertoire, thanks to their original works as well as transcription of works that were not originally written for harp. The´ve written many harp´s methods, which have helped in improving technigue of many students, these methods are still in use not only in France at present time. Henriette Renié, Marcel Grandjany, Carlos Salzedo, and other virtuoses inspired other artists to create music for this instrument by their highly artistic qualities.Among the composers who had been charmed by the sound of harp were C.Debussy, A.Roussel, M. Resumé This thesis approaches the personal and professional life of Libuše Váchová at the Czech music scene. In particular, the first part focuses on the artist´s long-term teaching at the Prague Conservatory and beyond. The work contains a list of all of her students from the Prague Conservatory. The second part of this detailed analyzed topic deals with her undeniable influence on the emerging composition for solo harp; however it is also over viewing many non-traditional parts for harp in the chamber music. The final part of this thesis shows an overview of all compositions that Libuše Váchová ever recorded for the Czech Radio. In this final part is also an attachment of a few programme samples from the concerts by the harp class at the Prague Conservatory.

The thesis contains a short introduction which describes the significance of music for human psyche. The focus is further placed on the research of the influence of Mozart?s compositions on students and children. The following chapter brings a concise characterisation of musical imagination, its subtypes and the heightened level of this imagination in musicians. The author is also concerned with the issues of musical aptitude, its basic characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of musical talent and the comparison between the brains of musicians and people of other professions. In the following chapters, the author focuses on the terms absolute pitch and synaesthesia, explicating their meaning, describing their specific features and analysing conditions of their origin as well as possible reasons for their future deterioration. The thesis also addresses the issue of potentially negative influences of music on human psyche, i.e. catchiness of some melodies and musical hallucinations, as well as the issue of dystonia in musicians, its causes and possible methods of treatment. The following chapters describe the effect of the so-called ?phantom hand?, the principle of stereophonic hearing and the consequences of its loss.
