Isotopic investigations combined with geothermal applications represent powerful tools for the exploration of groundwater potential as a drinking or geothermal resource. This Ph.D. Thesis combines both approaches, environmental and radioactive isotopes together with temperature data in deep aquifers, in order to enrich and update the knowledge concerning the aquifer recharge processes in the Aquitaine Basin (France) and the aquifer recharge processes and geothermal potential in the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin (Czech Republic). Stable isotopes (18 O, 2 H, 13 C) combined with radioisotope data (14 C, 3 H) are used to estimate the recharge timing and climatic conditions prevailing during the infiltration from the Late Pleistocene up to modern time. The character of groundwater recharge and regime are necessary to generate relevant source data for the accurate modelling of complex groundwater systems. Three groups of groundwater recharge types can be distinguished throughout Europe - (i) continuous recharge and (ii) interrupted recharge during Last Glacial Maximum and (iii) a group corresponding to particular recharge conditions. Zpracování teplotních karotážních dat v oblasti Oháreckého lineamentu / Thermal logging data analysis in the area of Ohárecký Lineament

Jakub Schinkman - abstract The object of the thesis was a detailed processing of the available temperature logging data from the area of Ohře lineament. The Ohře lineament is known by its characteristic temperature manifestations. Based on a comprehensive selection of thermometric logs and using the results of other logging methods were selected a total of 281 wells suitable for the construction of temperature maps. The parts of the work are maps of geothermal gradient and temperature sections across the Ohře lineament. Based on these summary maps, 6 smaller areas with anomalous temperature signs were selected for detailed analysis. Anomalies and trends in geothermal gradient were then compared with some other geophysical features. The work provides not only detailed processing of the collected thermometric data, but also shows the different possibilities of visualization and try to understand the problems of heat transfer in the upper parts of the earth's crust.

Stanovení mechanických parametrů horninového prostředí pomocí analýzy plného vlnového obrazu z akustické karotáže / Determination of mechanical parameters of rocks by analyzing full wave acoustic well logging record

In this diploma thesis is at first a revision of field used process of interpretation of full acoustic well logging record in WellCAD program. This program uses an algorithm based on velocity analysis which uses semblance principle. Furthermore an independent interpretation of same data has been done in MATLAB program. In this one, individual steps of the process are verified using analysis of complex seismic trace - in particular by using instantaneous frequency. Both processes of interpretation were applied on wide spectrum of Bohemian Massif rocks with very different mechanic properties, so their robustness has been tested. The results of both interpretation processes have been compared and there haven't been found any fundamental differences, just minor, which can't be systematically eliminated with regard to WellCAD's capabilities. Interpreted values of Poisson's ratio and velocities of longitudinal and transversal have been used for comparison. As the credibility of mechanic parameters' values determined by interpretation processes mentioned above has been proven, other reasons of difference between mechanic parameters' values determined seismically and using static methods were searched for. Aproximace statických modulů hornin z dynamických modulů stanovených akustickou karotáží pomocí T-matrix modelu / Approximation of static moduli of rocks from dynamic moduli determined by sonic well logging using T-matrix model

(EN) Thesis deals with an approximation of static moduli in wells from dynamic moduli determined by acoustic well logging using T-matrix model. Proposed approach makes possible to determine moduli values, which are close to values of static moduli, which would be determined by loading tests. This approach is based on an idea, that an intact rock with sufficiently high compressional strength sc and sufficiently high value of static Young's modulus Es, manifests more or less linear elastic behaviour. In such case, the values of static and dynamic moduli are identical. This fact has been experimentally verified for rocks with values of sc and Es in order of higher tens of MPa and GPa respectively. In case of a rock damage presence in such rock, it's behaviour becomes nonlinearly elastic. The amount of nonlinearity is proportional to increasing amount of rock damage. This results in the difference between values of static and dynamic moduli. T-matrix model is used to quantify this difference. This model is based on an anisotropic rock matrix with ellipsoidal inclusions. These inclusions can affect each other.
