The thesis deals with computer entrepreneurship as a source of employment in Ghana. The concept of entrepreneurship is relatively new to the Ghanaian economy. Employment in Ghana is largely skewed towards government sector employment and a few multinational companies. There is a growing unemployment population. This study examines computer entrepreneurship as a source of employment in the Ghanaian economy and a part solution to the problem of unemployment in Ghana. The benefits of computer entrepreneurship to the Ghanaian economy as well as the barriers to computer entrepreneurship are also examined. Through the results and discussions, recommendations are made to help improve computer entrepreneurship as a major source of employment in Ghana. The recommendations further suggest ways of benefitting from computer entrepreneurship and removing or reducing the barriers to computer entrepreneurship in Ghana.

Horňáková, Marie January 2017 (has links)
The thesis deals with cohousing; a concept of living based on common spaces and shared facilities. In the first phase, the aim is to provide a summary of the development of cohousing and other similar forms of housing in the world and also in Czechia. The second phase focuses on a concrete by cohousing inspired residential project located in the inner city of Prague. In the work it appears under the name Klidná. The second phase aims to find out what led the communication partners to choose Klidná as a new place of residence, how important role did the specific aspects based on cohousing played in the decision-making process and finally how are the ideas of this concept being fulfilled in everyday life of the inhabitants. The research is of a qualitative nature and the main method of data collection is realization of deep semi-structured interviews, which are subsequently evaluated on the basis of theoretical thematic analysis. Based on the study, none of the communication partners chose Klidná because of the concept of cohousing. They perceived the existence of common areas, small scale of the project or its spatial layout rather as a pleasant bonus. Fulfilling ideas of the concept in everyday life of the informants corresponds with the nature of the project and the context in which it was...

How is the Traditional Canadian Value of Volunteering Surviving?

TROUP, Pavel January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to test and consequently disprove or confirm the hypothesis that with the large influx of immigrants to Canada, volunteerism might not be able to survive in its present form. In the theoretical part of the work focus has been set on term definition and volunteering classification because it is a structured activity with its own rules and policy. History of volunteering has been described in the following chapter. This part goes beyond the history of volunteering in Canada since it is a deeply rooted Anglo-Saxon tradition which had been brought there by the British and French. The last chapter has been dedicated to the current situation of volunteering in Canada including a profile of a volunteer and possible current threats. The practical part has been based on a survey conducted among York University community members and an analysis of their answers. This survey became, together with my visit to the 2011 Toronto Volunteer Fair and an in-depth interview, the main source for the comparison of practice and theory.

Sociální prostředí a lokální komunity: město, suburbium, venkov / Social environment and local communities: city, suburb , countryside

Špačková, Petra January 2011 (has links)
Since the 19th century, the processes of modernization, industrialization and urbanization have fundamentally impacted the spatial organization and the actual contents of social ties. In particular, the role of place of residence in everyday life has significantly changed. Compared to the past, the spatial distance is less relevant for maintenance of interpersonal ties and non-local social relations are of growing importance. This process has been recently enhanced by development of communication technologies and the Internet in particular. The Internet has transferred many social ties into virtual communities without any spatial reference. The dissertation deals with the consequences of the above indicated changes for the social environments in urban, suburban and rural localities and it is built on the geographic perspective of social network research. The theoretical framework of the research is based on combination of the concepts of social environment and the concept of local community. Further, the conceptualization of the study of local social environment is presented. In addition, the factors undermining the differentiated social environment and the character of community ties in various types of geographical contexts are discussed. The attention is also paid to the importance of population...

Autorské herectví a jeho proměny v rámci terapie závislých / Authorial Acting and its changes during the therapy of addicts

Křesadlová, Václava January 2012 (has links)
In my dissertation, I try to reflect my own experiences with application of authorial approach to acting in therapeutic community for drug addicts. I work as a therapist for twelve years in therapeutic community Magdaléna. I guarantee nonverbal technique program and I lead a theatre project once a year periodically. My dissertation is divided to two main parts. First I focus on questions about authorial acting and its pedagogics. I try to explain specifics that are brought by authorial approach to acting. I also describe acting with the inner partner and drama propaedeutic based on free playing and collective improvisation. These dramatic experiments help participants during their own building of psychosomatic condition, which is core of studies on Authorial acting and pedagogics department, DAMU in Prague.Second part of my dissertation is dedicated to my own work with drug addicts. I try to describe problems of therapy in community, especially the questions connected with dramatic expression of the clients. As I told before, I lead nonverbal technique program in Magdaléna community and I created my own conception of such program and it is described enough in my dissertation. I also try to explain drama projects preparations in community and show such cooperation in eleven specific performances we did with different clients during the time. Finally, I reflect relationship between authorial acting and psychotherapy. I perceive the ability to act creatively in direct contact with the others as the most important thing in both cases. That is why I demur at the question of a self-experience in therapy and psychosomatic condition in authorial acting and their mutual relationship.
