The submitted thesis deals with functions of the current South Moravian countryside. This region was divided into four types of countryside, where model micro-regions were chosen. A typology of countryside functions that results from the analyses of professional and thematic publications and documents was suggested. Main objective of this thesis is to specify and analyses the current functions of the South Moravian countryside. The first part is aimed at the statistical analysis of micro - regions modeling. The following part is aimed at the specific functions of different types of countryside based on a questionnaire and an enquiry survey. Thesis findings confirm that the current countryside serves several functions. They are mutually conditioned and they influence each other. It is important to search for equilibrium in the development of particular functions. In addition, it was proved that there has been a certain link between the types of the countryside and their functions. Analysis of the countryside functions is particularly beneficial for understanding of the countryside role and its future form. The image of the countryside will be determined by the relation among individual functions. The current countryside fulfills three following main functions: residential, production and recreation. They are bound to other functions. A noticeable growing dependence of the individual countryside functions on EU subsidy system has been shown from the enquiry. To some extent the selected statistical indicators quantify the suggested functions.

The thesis deals with seniors' diet in selected social services facilities of the Kralovehradecky region. The main aim of this project is to establish what kind of diet from a quantitative and qualitative point of view is served to the clients of these social services facilities. This was accomplished by collecting and subsequently analyzing in the lab all meals served daily for the duration of 7 days. Furthermore, there was an evaluation of the variety of food conducted. This evaluation was accomplished by observing the menu for a period of one month. Points were awarded only for non-repetitive foods and meals. The evaluation was based on the dietary diversity coefficient. This Diploma project also deals with clients' actual consumption of the served food in social services facilities. There was a client survey conducted, namely, the Mini Nutritional Assessment short form. This was done along with recording the clients' physical activity. The objective of this work was to identify the main presumptions of regional competitiveness and their application to partitular NUTS 3 regions of the Czech Republic with the main focus on the South-Bohemian region. In the first part of the thesis following crucial factors that influence regional competitveness were defined: economic and inovative efficiency, research and development, foreign investments, economic structure and human resources qualities. According to these factors the NUTS 3 regions were compared and their competitiveness were analysed in the second part. Disparities between NUTS 3 regions were found and regions were dividend into few groups in respect for their cometitiveness level. It was revealed that the competitiveness of South-Bohemian region is above the average of the Czech Republic in the most of aspects perused.

Diplomová práce pojednává o udržitelném rozvoji cestovního ruchu a jeho uplatňování v regionu Plzeňský kraj. Cílem je osvětlit samotný pojem udržitelný rozvoj, analyzovat situaci cestovního ruchu v Plzeňském kraji, identifikovat jeho přínosy i negativními vlivy a následně navrhnout řešení této problematiky ve vymezené oblasti. Při hodnocení této destinace lze bez nadsázky konstatovat, že se jedná o oblast značně zajímavou a bezpochyby vhodnou pro realizaci cestovního ruchu, neboť oplývá velkým množstvím kulturně-historických i přírodních atraktivit a hodí se k návštěvě prakticky během celého roku ? od jara do zimy má turistům co nabídnout.
