The continuously increasing Internet coverage and its availability has give rise to an issue that was once considered not important to take into consideration. Today a number of applications use the Internet to de-liver time critical messages. The usage of wireless Access Points involves a considerable percentage to connect mobile devices to the Internet pro-vider. However, these relatively cheaper Internet Access Points have their own disadvantages as compared to the GSM and ADSL. The access points cover a very limited area and thus in order to cover a wider area multiple access points must needs to be installed. In other words, as the user moves he/she is supposed to switch between access points. Never-theless, the basic problem in such cases is involves packet loss during handover. In today’s technological advancements these issues, though very small, are no more insignificant but are required to be handled prop-erly. So protocols such as MobileIP, LISP, HOST have been proposed and are currently being used for such a purpose. Furthermore, in this thesis a mechanism to reduce such packet losses has been studied and proposed in relation to the SensibleThings Internet-of-things platform. A workaround solution known as Mobile DCXP has been proposed and implemented and comparisons with the existing system have been carried out. In addition, a generic solution has been discussed in detail and compared with the Mobile DCXP. However, the implementation of the generic solution has been deferred to the future. The concept of Mobile DCXP has been illustrated with proof-of-concept apps and an implementation of a simple Android Application known as IChat has been conduct. The IChat is a simple chat app that is used in the experi-ment to determine out the packet lost during handover and to carry out a comparison. Finally, based on the data collected from IChat, an evaluation of Mobile DCXP has been presented and a performance comparison with Mobile Proxy DCXP has been illustrated with charts. Furthermore, in the conclusion Mobile DCXP could minimize packet loss as compared to the existing system.

The thesis addresses possibilities of deploying the open source data mining system LISp-Miner in the customer relationship management (CRM), specifically in the area of lead management. This is basically a process of finding information about potential customers, qualifying those customers according to their potential (future value), and turning the selected potential customers to real customers. The data used includes the records concerning the lead management of a major logistic company operating worldwide (the company wanted to stay in anonymity). The data is analysed using the LISp-Miner system which is an academic software developed at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics at the University of Economics, Prague. The thesis also pays attention to the collaboration with the business experts of the company which provided the data. The principle aim of the thesis is to provide information contributing to the possible change of internal processes of the company. Further aims are to propose directions of the use of the LISp-Miner system when solving a similar data mining task, and propose a simple and understandable way how to present the results. The aims have been achieved by doing the analysis in compliance with the CRISP-DM Methodology. The asset of the thesis is the description of the whole project which includes the analysis of real data using the LISp-Miner system. Further result of the thesis is the description of the lead management domain. Finally, the thesis offers the instructions and recommendations for future similar projects. Section I outlines the LISp-Miner system and its procedures. Section II - A case study describes the process of analysing the data. Two cycles ("iterations") of the analysis were performed. The chapters devoted to the both iterations have been structured according to the phases of the CRISP-DM Methodology. Section III summarises the observations gained during the entire project. Moreover, it gives recommendations and instructions for the application in case a similar project of the data analysis using the LISp-Miner system is designed.

This master thesis deals with automation process of a data mining in the LISp-Miner program. The aim of this thesis is to create an automated process that analyzes analytical questions in the data about traffic accidents in the Czech Republic using a LMCL scripting language and LM Exec module. Theoretical part of thesis describes the process of knowledge discovery in databases and most widely used methodology. It also describes the relevant topics for the work with LISp-Miner. The practical part is focused on description of traffic accidents in the Czech Republic, a description of the used data, creation and evaluation of analytical questions and especially a description of created scripts. The output of the thesis is a group of scripts and manual how to use them again, so they can be reused for analysis of actual data on traffic accidents not only in the Czech Republic, if they have the same data structure.

S rostoucím množstvím shromažďovaných a ukládaných dat roste také potřeba a zájem majitelů těchto dat o využití jejich potenciálu k dalšímu rozhodování. Proto se vyvíjí nové přístupy a způsoby vycházející z informatiky, statistiky a oblasti strojového učení, které se této potřebě snaží vyhovět. Cílem této diplomové práce je uvést proces dobývání znalostí dat z databází na medicínských datech Tinnitus a představit systémy LISp-Miner a Weka, které daný proces podporují. Obsahem teoretické části diplomové práce je shrnutí základních charakteristik a přístupů procesu dobývání znalostí. Praktická část diplomové práce je věnována realizaci celého procesu v jednotlivých krocích. V samotném kroku modelování jsou využity již zmíněné systémy akademické LISp-Miner a Weka. Poslední část praktické části práce patří prezentaci dosažených výsledků a vlastnímu zhodnocení systémů.

Esse trabalho propõe a implementação de um sistema Prolog eficiente no espaço, o mesmo é baseado nos trabalhos de David H. D. Warren e Hassan Aït-Kaci. A Common Lisp é a estrutura usada para a construção do sistema Prolog, ela foi escolhida tanto por fornecer um ambiente eficiente no espaço quando por ser uma linguagem de programação rica no sentido de que fornece ao usuário abstrações e novas maneiras de pensar. O sistema resultante consiste em uma nova sintaxe aplicada à linguagem inicial que funciona sobre a implementanção Common Lisp chamada SBCL e é capaz de abstrair ou explorar o sistema subjacente. / This thesis proposes the implementation of a space efficient Prolog implementation based on the work of David H. D. Warren and Hassan Aït-Kaci. The Common Lisp is the framework used to the construction of the Prolog system, it was chosen both to provide a space efficient environment and a rich programming language in the sense that it supply the user with abstractions and new ways of thinking. The resulting system is a new syntax to the initial language that runs on top of the SBCL Common Lisp implementation and can abstract away or exploit the underlying system. / Tese (Doutorado)

The aim of this thesis is to implement a web interface for the LISp-Miner academic system which provides association rule mining capability. There is a new trend these days for knowledge discovery in databases applications which are being transformed from desktop applications to web applications and this arises both new opportunities and issues. This thesis describes new interactive approach for association rule mining in which the user is an essential part of the algorithm and can alter the task setting. Users can also collaborate by creating domain knowledge repository which helps finding new interesting information out of the data.
