LUFTRUM är ett centrum för Stockholms kulturskola med cirkusinriktning. Verksamheten kretsar runt en cirkushall med 9.4 meter frihöjd och riggningsmöjligheter som tillgodser för alla luftakrobatiksdiscipliner. Utöver det finns ensamblerum för musik och mindre musikrum, bildsal med keramikugn samt digitalt lab för diverse digitala medier. Byggnadens primära struktur grundar sig på en trästomme av KL-timmer och kertonpelare som håller upp ett fackverk av laminerat trä varifrån sekundära fackverkstrossar utgör anfästningsanordning för riggning i cirkushallen. Mekanisk öppenhet med industriella materialval samt viss strukturell överdimensionering i cirkushallen ökar flexibiliteten och svarar på verksamhetens behov av redunditet för framtida verksamhetsanpassning. Exponerade byggnadskomponenter och installationer återkommmer där det inte stör intrycket. LUFTRUM vänder sig mot parkområdet och utnyttjar detta som rekreationsområde och fokus från kaféet, cirkushallen och de större ensamblerummen. Verksamheten i byggnaden är placerad så att en ljudvall av mindre ljudkänsliga verksamheter lagts längs fasaden mot järnvägsspåren som skydd för musikverksamheten. Både cirkushallen och den mindre dans- och cirkushallen är placerade så att minimal ljudtransmission förekommer. / LUFTRUM is a centre for Stockholm's School of Culture which focuses on circus teaching and development. Centrally placed in the building is a large hall with 9.4 metres free height below the trusses for rigging which allows for a full range of aerial disciplines in circus to be undertaken. In addition to this there are two large ensamble rooms for music and five single rooms for one to one lessons, art room and ceramic kiln and a digital lab. The primary loadbearing structure employs CLT segmants and kerto pillars for the main hall to carry a laminated woodden truss system. A secondary woodden truss system is used for anchorage for the rigging in the big hall. Display of mechanical elements and a choice of industrial industrial materials coupled with a certain structral over-dimensioning in the main hall is a response to the preactitioners' request for flexiility and redundity to accommodate future developments and needs. Exposed operational components of the building is a reoccurring detail wherever possible. LUFTRUM faces the parkland area to utilise this for recreational purposes and scenic backdrop from the cafe, main hall and large ensamble rooms. Rooms are places so that a sound barrier is created with the less noice sensitive activities blocking the clamour from the train tracks to the north to provide a large a mmount of silence for the music rooms in particular. Both the main hall and secondary dance and circus hall are placed so that sound transmission is kept at a minimum.
