Organizational barriers during the development of Information management systems

E Pham, Toan January 2015 (has links)
Aim To understand why organizational barriers exist during the development of information management systems or enterprise applications. . This study investigates if organizational barriers actually occur and if so, how we can understand these phenomena. Method Deductive research and exploratory research. Secondary research is evaluated how it is applicable in practice. Qualitative research was applied across multiple subsidiaries. Standardized interviews were conducted among 30 interviewees. As it is exploratory research, this is sufficient to present certain patterns and indications. To support this method, Criterion-based sampling has been applied to ensure appropriate units for this study. Results & conclusion In a competitive environment, subcultural groups tend to be formed to protect similar interests. Rewards were based on power and achievements. By forcing accomplishment of the implementation of the information management system, groups would be rewarded. Others would be negatively affected. Therefore individuals and groups would act on behave of their own even if they would harm co-workers with their actions. Especially, groups without decision power were highly affected by these negative effects. Organizational politics controls the organization’s power. Counter-implementation strategies were identified; when groups tried to act on behave of the shareholder and customers to influence the decision-makers. After many delays, they were unable to prevent the integration of a new Information management system.

Sebeřízení jako prostředek pro rozvoj a udržitelnost osobních kompetencí ředitele školy / Self-management as a means for advancement and maintenance of personal competence of school directors

Macháčková, Pavla January 2016 (has links)
The thesis deals with self-management of head teachers and its application in the present which is characterized by an environment of never-ending changes which place considerable demands on the overall preparedness of school management to face these demands. This theses has been completed using search of available literature and free Internet resources related to this issue. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts related to the topic. The personality and skills of managers are also described there. Based on the analysis and comparison of scientific literature I describe the techniques and procedures recommended by the authors who deal with this issue. With the help of a survey in the form of half-structured interviews with managers of education in different types of schools in a district town I try to find out what self-management techniques covering the biological, psychological and social areas are practised by head teachers in order to maintain and develop relevant skills. In conclusion, based on the acquired data I suggest a process of self-management of head teachers. Recommended methods and procedures can be used as a strategic tool for maintaining and developing their competencies necessary to carry out their profession in a quality way. Analysis of solar energy production, utilisation and management for facilitating sustainable development in and around the deserts of Pakistan

Shah, Sadiq Ali January 2012 (has links)
The problems of lack of potable water, food and electrical power in and around the desert environment are analysed and their solutions based on the utilisation of indigenous renewable energy resources are evaluated in the current research. Self-contained, decentralised solar energy powered processes are devised in the research results as means to attain the objectives of supplying electrical power, potable water and food to the communities living in the deserts in environmentally sustainable manner. Needs analysis of desert community, a questionnaire survey, desert energy model utilisation scenarios, solar potential assessment and environmental emissions reduction strategy are used as means of analysis in the current research. A potential assessment of a desert site Islamkot, at Thar is carried out to demonstrate the capability of available solar potential to meet the energy needs of underground pumping, desalination of aquifer water potable water, cultivation of wheat, rice and pulses and domestic power consumption. The needs analysis estimates the amounts of electrical power needs of potable water desalination, agricultural commodities cultivation and electrical power needs per person per day, which can be scale up for any number of communities living in and around the deserts. The results reveals that indigenous solar potential capability can be used to produce the required amounts of electrical power to meet the water, wheat, rice, pulses, electrical power, drinking, non-drinking and cultivation water needs of the desert communities in environmentally sustainable manner. The research results are practicable and can be implemented to meet the energy needs of isolated communities living in and around the deserts in the long run. However, sustainable efforts would be required to encourage stakeholders to initiate a process of small, medium and large scale solar power utilization in and around the deserts.
