The master's thesis Čin magazine in 1929 - 1939 deals with the cultural-political magazine Čin, which was issued in Prague in between the world wars. This left-wing and democratically orientated weekly, later a fortnightly, magazine focused on current cultural and public issues within former Czechoslovakia. The thesis aims to provide a thorough profile of what was an important and distinctive periodical in its time. Firstly, the thesis deals with outlining the notion of the magazine within the mass media, further on it describes the characteristics of the media landscape in the period of the first and second republic, where the printed media and their related area of problems are dealt with in detail. A subchapter on the cultural and political standing of Czechoslovakia in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century is also included, the focus is also on the position of the Čin magazine in the array of magazines of that time. The ensuing parts of the thesis already deal with the periodical itself, firstly in the period from 1929 to 1936, when the magazine was under the leadership of Marie Majerová, and secondly in the period of leadership of Bohumil Přikryl, that is from 1937 to 1939. Diploma thesis "Leaving of Czechoslovak democracy giants; comparison of media images of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk's and Vaclav Havel's death and funeral in Czech Press" aims to compare the media images of the presidents' death and funeral in broadsheet and tabloid newspapers of that time. In this matter, media analyzed the lives of these great personalities, their work, political views, their acceptance and renown abroad, their merits and their critical reception as well. The study itself is divided into two main parts. The first one being the theoretical part informs about the political and social context of the time in which Tomas Garrigue Masaryk and Vaclav Havel lived and worked and it discusses their personalities in more details. Furthermore, the methodology used in the thesis is included in this section as well, representing and explaining the method of the media research. In the second practical part, the thesis provides the characteristics of the chosen broadsheet and tabloid newspapers - Lidove noviny, Poledni list and Blesk. By using qualitative analysis the thesis seeks to determine how media presented the presidents at that time. Submitted diploma thesis describes the life of historian Rudolf Holinka. His area of specialization was especially in the Middle Ages. He was a well-known professor and an author of medieval-themed books. His life was significantly influenced by the important changes in the society. He became a member of academic environment at Charles University in Prague at Faculty of Philosophy. He developed his interest in the history under the influence of the first generation Goll's students. His activity was moved to the recently opened Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University in Bratislava. He had to leave this place in consequence of changes which were happened during 1938. Holinka didn't even avoid the Nazi repression which burst out after German occupation of Czechoslovakia. There is also depicted his life during the Communist era. This diploma work tries as first to map the historian's life from the time of early studies up to his university work which was culminated by his appointment of professor at Faculty of Philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno.

The doctoral thesis deals with comparative analysis of historical examples in the search for national identity in texts of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (1850-1937) and Roman Dmowski (1864-1939). Both Masaryk and Dmowski belonged to prominent representatives of public and political life in their countries at the end of the 19th and in first decades of the 20th centuries. The question of national identity is a theme often associates with their life and work. Masaryk and Dmowski influenced Czech and Polish politics, political and intellectual thought before 1914. During the First World War, they were leaders of Czechoslovak and Polish politics in West European emigration (Masaryk as the president of the Czechoslovak National Committee, Dmowski as the president of the Polish National Committee). Nevertheless, in the postwar period, their career diverged. Masaryk became president of Czechoslovakia and symbol of the Czechoslovak identity, Dmowski represented rather the opposition against mainstream development in postwar Poland. The Diploma Thesis deals with an influence of Anglo-American culture upon Czech society in 1918- 1938. The main focus is dedicated to the Czech intellectual environment, which has accepted Anglo- American culture and spread it among general public. An importance of T. G. Masaryk to introduction of English philosophy at the Czech philosophical faculty is shown here as well as his support of Anglo- American culture in the time of establishing the Czechoslovakia. Famous Czech author K. Čapek is presented as an admirer of American pragmatism and his further relationship towards American culture is also shown here. A part of thesis deals with Čapek's well known travelogue called Anglické listy. Except of famous personalities, the importance of English department at Prague faculty of arts is also taken into account. The department was lead by the founder of Czech English studies Vilém Mathesius, whose linguistic and cultural studies are also presented here. The last part of thesis is dedicated to introduction of compulsory English language classes into secondary schools and to analysis of curriculum and text books.

The project creates a new public space with a view towards Brno and the Pálava area. The project also proposes a sequential building – the Prevention centre at first and the Proton centre later.
