Bostadsutvecklingen i Uppsala kommun : En undersökning av unga vuxnas och studenters framtida boendesituation

Hillman, Katharina, Nohldén, Stina January 2014 (has links)
This thesis presents the residential development in the city of Uppsala, targeting theliving conditions of young adults and students. In cooperation with Sweco Architect inUppsala. The purpose of this survey is to reveal difficulties and possibilities for theearly development of the construction process for studio apartments. Theinformation has been obtained through both a literature review and interviews. Theliterature review is based on Swedish regulations and previous studies in the field, andthe interviews were conducted with organisations and people in leading positionswithin Uppsala. The foundation for the thesis is a proposition, proposition from the Swedishgovernment to change the regulation and the law regarding the construction of smallapartments for students and young adults. The government wants to promote anincrease in the l development of residential areas for these types of residents. The result of the study shows that Uppsala is expanding and the major challenge is theliving conditions for young adults, due to the shortage of rental housing. At themoment there are several residential projects aiming to solve the current housingshortage, involving both rental housing and condominium. Regarding the “students”living conditions, the problem is not the lack of housing, a need for simplification of allthe different queue systems for house renting into one system. The result also shows that the city of Uppsala is instep with the planning process eventhough many of the people interviewed claimed the opposite. The use of temporarybuilding permits has been discussed throughout the thesis and the result shows thatUppsala municipality is not willing to use these kinds of solutions to solve the housingshortage in Uppsala. In conclusion, a few recommendations have been given including a more integratedcity with studio apartments and a combined queue system for student apartments.
