The susceptibility of Bemisia tabaci biotype B (Genn.) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) to isolates of Beauveria bassiana (IBCB18, IBCB35, IBCB66 and JAB07) Lecanicillium muscarium (LCMAP3790) and Metarhizium rileyi (NOM1950) was evaluated using pathogenicity and virulence tests. The 1,0 × 108 conidia/mL-1 discriminatory concentration was used for bioassays with 60 eggs and 3rd instar nymphs in bean leaves as a substrate. For each treatment was used 60 eggs and nynphs distribued in three replicates. The control treatment consisted of distilled water + Tween 80 (0.05%). To estimate the virulence of strains, lethal concentration (LC50) bioassays were performed. Isolates suspensions (1,0 × 103 , 1.0×104 , 1.0×105 , 1.0×106 , 1.0×107 and 1.0×108 conidia/ml-1 ) were sprayed on eggs and 3rd instar nymphs and the number of eggs and nymphs with mortality confirmed by the fungus was evaluated. All isolates tested were pathogenic for B. tabaci eggs and nymphs. The mortality rate of nymphs and eggs ranged from 63.3 to 100.0 and 32.1 to 95.0%, respectively. JAB07 and IBCB18 from B. bassiana and LCMAP3790 L. muscarium isolated were the best for the control of B. tabaci nymphs and eggs, JAB07 was the isolate most virulent for nymphs and eggs, with LC50 estimated 0.006 and 0.012 x 103 conidia/mL-1 estimated for eggs and 3rd instar nymphs, respectively, this being isolated most suitable for future field trials for control of B. tabaci.
