Multikulturalismus ve školní praxi / Multiculturalism in teaching practise

This final thesis deals with the realisation of multicultural education at public elementary schools and at the lower level of eight-year grammar schools in the Czech Republic. In the first part of the thesis I define the most common terms like multiculturalism and multicultural education. Also, I examine the curricular educational documents. In the main part I did a research in schools during the school year 2017/2018 in Central Bohemian Region and in Prague. Here I briefly map the situation at the school and the state of their educational program. I describe the course of the lessons, interviews with the teachers, mostly used methods and the results of the study. In the interviews I ask about the personality of the teacher, their opinion on current status of legislation and multicultural education. This Master?s thesis deals with a reflection of national minorities in textbooks of civic in elementary schools. The aim of this thesis is both theoretical research of civics textbooks and a practical exploration of attitudes of students and teachers of elementary schools in relation to minorities. The thesis contains three main parts. The first part deals with issues of multicultural community and explains the basic concepts that are associated with these issues. The next part, describes an author?s reflection of ethnic and national minorities in civics textbooks. The last part is dedicated to the research where a questionnaire survey was used. Problematika násilí, genderu a multikulturalismu ve videohrách / Violence, Gender and Multiculturalism in Videogames

This thesis deals with issues of violence, gender and multiculturalism in videogames and computer games. The theoretical part summarizes the history of videogames and describes what videogames are, who are they for and who actually plays them. Next, it describes the problems and criticism of videogames regarding violence, gender and multiculturalism and showcases the issues on select videogames. The practical part showcases presentation of violence, sexual content, female characters and racial and ethnic minorities in videogames in a case study of the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The case study also comments on criticism the game has received because of these issues. The author considers the game to be problematic in some aspects, but generally not racist or sexist. The thesis includes a study of demographical distribution of players in Czech Republic and their opinions about violence, gender and multiculturalism in videogames. The study had the form of an online questionnaire; the respondents were asked to take part via social media. The players do not mind violence in videogames and their opinions are in accord with the latest studies. Etická dimenze multikulturality (S využitím poznatků reálií a kultury Německa) / Ethical Dimension of Multiculturalism (Using the Knowledge of German Realia and Culture)

The presented dissertation deals with the ethical aspects of inconsistent view on the contemporary world, which can be seen as a philosophical, political and multicultural problem. Since the Federal Republic of Germany can be considered an example of open multicultural society, the author presents in the work a rich factual history, culture and realities of the country with the aim to clarify the understanding of its foreign policy relating to the immigration. The dissertation addresses the issue of the ethical dimension of multiculturalism in connection with migration and multicultural coexistence in a culturally diverse and often turbulent environment, including their practical impacts. The research carried out at the university environment of multicultural Germany in 2014-2016 detects present cultural diversity of the country, confirms the importance of the education in the process of integrating newcomers into mainstream society and searches for opportunities to improve the coexistence of people of different races, ethnicities, cultures and religions. In the conclusion, the author tracks the future developments and expectations with respect to the topic of multiculturalism and its ethical dimension both, on the territory of immigration Germany and in European and world context. První část diplomové práce nazvaná " Multikulturní výchova v mateřské škole v integraci s rodinami" pojednává o některých termínech, týkajících se této problematiky. Dále se věnuje současné multikulturní situaci v České republice. Na toto téma jsem se zaměřila z hlediska významu spolupráce mateřské školy s rodinami a výhod multikulturní výchovy v mateřské škole s rodiči. Druhá část zahrnuje návrh třídního kurikula s multikulturním zaměřením v integraci s rodiči a jeho realizaci v soukromé anglické mateřské škole v Praze. Abstract: The first section of this thesis which is entitled "Multicultural Education in a pre-school with familial integration" starts by outlining the most common terms in this broad issue, followed by a current position of multiculturalism in Czech Republic. I focused on a topic in a sense of the co-operation between a pre-school and families from a multicultural view point. The second part includes a concept of the Multicultural Class Curriculum with familial integration and presents its realization in a privat English Pre-school in Prague.

Diploma thesis " Approaches to children in multicultural Nursery and Primary schools. It deals with the current approaches to children in Nursery and Primary schools, both in Czech schools and foreign schools located in the Czech Republic. First this thesis tries to find some historical context and understanding of the situation that Czech and foreign schools are faced with. Further attempts to map out the involvement of multicultural education into the curricula and teaching practice in the selected schools. Primarily it creates a comparison of approaches to multicultural education in selected schools in the Czech Republic. The thesis is trying to find inspiration for working with multicultural education in Czech schools, which do not pay much attention to multicultural education. Thesis should highlight the importance of multicultural education in schools and the benefits and positive impact of integrating this education into the curriculum of schools.

Multikulturalita a integrace japonských dětí do české mateřské školy / Multiculturalism and integration of Japanese children into Czech nursery schools

The theoretical part has two main aims. The first one is to clarify terms related to multiculturalism using professional literature. The second very important aim is to introduce the Japanese culture, the evolution of Japanese family and the status of a child in society. Also there is the outlook on Japanese preschool education institutions. These information comes basically from the interview with the Japanese national, nevertheless some additional information comes from literature. The aim of the practical part is analysed the stay of seven Japanese children in the kindergarten in one class during approximately three years. Then it introduce integration program of Japanese children to typical Czech kindergarten which is based on practical experiences. Also the practical part describes the preschool attendance of the foreign children in one kindergarten during 10 years. The research has proved the attendance of the foreign children to other kindergarten in Prague parts Břevnov, Dejvice and Hanspaulka. As well the research presents teacher's experiences with multiculturalism and multicultural education.

Diploma thesis "Some aspects of multiculturalism" deals with religious minority living in the Czech Republic, especially with Czech muslim women. The aim of this thesis is to explore the most frequent prejudices that relate to Islam religion. To achieve that, concept of multiculturalism, concept prejudice, theory of prejudice as a grouped norm and the most frequent prejudices of Islam are characterized. The history of Islam, It is also described - its origin in the Czech Republic, beginning of Muslim community on the Czech territory, Muslims nowadays, their integration and their number in the Czech republic. The short characteristic of Islam religion, fundamental commitments and rights every muslim and the characteristic that deals with rights, commitments and roles of muslim women are described. The second part of diploma thesis is qualitative research. This research is focused on recognition of real situation of Czech muslim women who converted to Islam. The research tries to reflect the perceptiveness of belief of women themselves. Why they converted to Islam, which are the most frequent prejudices they meet and how they react to them and which attitudes they have towards some Islamic commands and prohibitions.
