The aim of this study was to investigate preschool teacher’s perceptions about the curriculum goal concerning simple chemical processes. The result was based on narratives received by a qualitative study and semi-structured interviews of six preschool teachers.   The results of the study showed that preschool teachers perceive that they actually are working in a relatively small scale with simple chemical processes and they do not really know what simple chemical processes are, and do not feel very familiar with the subject. Water, dough, mud, paint and baking were the most common activities that were used when working towards the curricular goal. However, it was never explained to the children that it was simple chemical processes they were working with during the activities, neither was it discussed among colleagues because of the uncertainty about the concept. Additionally, the results showed that the preschool teachers saw the science as a totality and not as different concepts (physics, chemistry, engineering and biology). More knowledge, ideas and to discuss about what a simple chemical process is, are considered important conditions for creating interest among preschool teachers which was also an important condition in the work towards the goal. / Syftet med studien var att undersöka förskollärares uppfattningar och tankar om läroplansmålet enkla kemiska processer. Studiens resultat baseras på material som samlats in, genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex förskollärare. Resultatet av studien visade att förskollärarna uppfattar att de arbetar i relativt liten omfattning med enkla kemiska processer och anledningen till det är att de inte riktigt vet vad enkla kemiska processer är samt att de inte känner sig så förtrogna med ämnet. Vatten, deg/lera, bakning och färg var de vanligaste aktiviteterna som användes när de arbetade mot läroplansmålet. Dock förklarades inte för barnen att det var enkla kemiska processer de arbetade med i aktiviteterna och det var heller inget som diskuterades bland kollegorna på grund av osäkerheten kring begreppet. Resultatet visade också att förskollärarna såg naturvetenskapen som helhet och inte de olika begreppen (fysik, kemi, teknik och biologi). Mer kunskap med tips och idéer och att få diskutera om vad en enkel kemisk process är, ansågs vara viktiga förutsättningar för att skapa intresse hos förskollärarna, som också var en viktig förutsättning i arbetet mot målet.
