Syftet med studien är att skapa förståelse för hur noterade fastighetsbolag med olika inriktning driver sina verksamheter utifrån ett ekonomiskt hållbart perspektiv. Genom att undersöka ovanstående önskar författarna jämföra bolagens sätt att arbeta med dessa frågor med den forskning som finns publicerad.  En kvalitativ studie har genomförts i form av fem intervjuer med respondenter från noterade fastighetsbolag. Information har även hämtats från bolagens egna finansiella rapporter. Den praktiska och teoretiska referensramen har skrivits med stöd av vetenskapliga artiklar, kurslitteratur samt relevanta webbsidor.   Resultatet visar att bolagens arbete med ekonomisk hållbarhet styrs av den miljömässiga, teknologiska och sociala hållbarheten. Faktorer som påverkar den ekonomiska hållbarheten är makroekonomiska faktorer såsom ränta, inflation och energipriser, teknologiska förbättringar samt att värna om den sociala hållbarheten i form av trygga och inkluderande samhällen. Studiens resultat visar att det finns olika påverkansfaktorer inom ekonomisk hållbarhet som fastighetsbolagen arbetar med för att öka sin lönsamhet.  Vilka krav på hållbarhetsaspekterna kommer hyresgäster i framtiden ställa när de ska hyra en fastighet? Genom att undersöka detta skulle kunskapen öka om vilka faktorer som anses viktiga för en attraktiv fastighet ur hyresgästernas perspektiv. / The purpose of the study is to create an understanding of how listed real estate companies with different orientations run their operations based on an economically sustainable perspective. By examining the above, the authors wish to compare the companies' way of working with these issues with the research that is published. A qualitative study has been implemented in the form of five interviews with respondents from listed property companies. Information has also been taken from the companies' own financial reports. The practical and theoretical frame of reference has been written with the support of scientific articles, course literature and relevant webpages. The result shows that the companies' work with financial sustainability is guided by environmental, technological and social sustainability. Factors that affect economic sustainability are macroeconomic factors such as interest, inflation and energyprices, technological improvements and safeguarding social sustainability in the form of safe and inclusive societies. The results of the study show that there are various influencing factors within financial sustainability that real estate companies work to increase their profitability. What demands on sustainability aspects will tenants make in the future when they rent a property? By investigating this, knowledge would increase about which factors are considered important for an attractive property from the tenants' perspective.
