Det här är en studie i hur man utifrån förutsättningarna i en kulturminnesmärktoch blåklassad byggnad kan använda rumslig kommunikation för att främjaorienterbarhet och stödja ett önskat rörelsemönster. Att arbeta med ettkulturminnesmärkt och blåklassat hus innebär snäva ramar och kräver en storförsiktighet och respekt för byggnadens ursprungliga utformning. Arbetet utgårfrån Strindbergsmuseets verksamhet och syftar till att skapa ett bättre flöde utanoönskade stopp, samt att förenkla för museets besökare att hitta till och ibyggnaden.Museets lokaler är små och passagerna smala. Detta gör att det snabbt bildasstopp i rörelseflödet. Vad gäller orienterande skyltning är den ofta svårupptäcktoch svårläst. Inte heller finns ett genomgående formspråk i museets grafiskamaterial.Utifrån teoristudier och inhämtad empiri har ett designförslag tagits fram.Förslaget innefattar rumslig kommunikation i form av både explicitkommunikation så som skyltning, samt implicit kommunikation så som ljus ochformelement. Genom att ta ett helhetsgrepp från entrén fram till utställningarnahar orienterbarheten förbättrats och ett rörelseflöde utan större stoppmöjliggjorts. / This is a study on how spatial communication can be used to promoteorientability and support desired movement patterns, this in relation to thecircumstances in a heritage listed building. Working with a heritage listedbuilding means a narrow frame for the work that requires special care andrespect for the building's original design. The work is based on the Strindberg’smuseums (Strindbersmuseet) goal to create a better flow without unwantedstops that will make it easier for visitors to orientate both to and inside thebuilding.The rooms in Strindberg’s Museum are small with narrow passages in-between.This physical conditions are leading to stops in the flow. In addition to that thecurrent orientation signage is often difficult to detect and to read, and there areno consistency in the current graphic material.Based on both theoretical studies and empirical data, a new design has beendeveloped. The proposal includes spatial communication in the form of bothexplicit communication such as signage, as well as implicit communicationsuch as light and form elements. By taking a holistic approach from theentrance to the exhibitions, the orientability has been improved and there is nowa flow in the movement patterns, without major stops.
