The Design and Implementation of Integration of Web Page with VoIP System

It is very convenient for human to use Internet for communications. The VoIP service is a good example. Because voice transmission through Internet becomes mature, people can remotely talk with each other by IP phones inexpensively. Thus, VoIP system can be integrated with Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in some groups, organizations, or companies to reduce the cost for communication. Additionally, it also can be another kind of free consultation channel for customers and users. To take advantage of VoIP system, the people who may be inside a company, be the Internet visitors, or be provisional guests can receive services and question answers immediately and freely. However, it needs a lot of procedures to connect to the VoIP system, e.g., to install a softphone which must be booted to register an VoIP server, to even configure IP address, port number, protocol, encryption, and outbound proxy, etc. This configuration sometimes is difficult and it may need to setup every time when customers want use VoIP phone. It is not an easy job for a user, for example, to download the software from Internet, and to read some documents to setup system parameters and then to operate it, especially for those people who are not familiar with computers. Thus, this inconvenience may cause VoIP service not to be easily promoted. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to solve this problem and make users have a web interface and without worrying about how to setup the system. I combine Web interface with VoIP phone to become a ¡§webphone¡¨. To take advantage of the characteristics of generality and facility of Web, guests can click the button on the Web pages to trigger the VoIP component inside the Web page to connect to the VoIP system, then make communication with other people. At the same time, it can avoid exposing the information of server address, account, password to public and ward off dangerous attacks from Internet.

Mobile application development in Africa

This work takes a look at how some of the challenges facing the African Continent can be tackled by the use of Mobile Phone Applications. Mobile phone penetration in Africa is very high, as indicated by statistics from South Africa in 2009 which showed that 70% of all South Africans owned a cell-phone. As such, the mobile phone is the ideal infrastructure platform to introduce technology applications that can be easily accessed by the general public. The paper briefly discusses the current state of mobile applications on the continent including some key applications presently deployed and how they are being used to meet some major social challenges faced. The work then proposes the creation of the Mobile Doctor Application, a tool that gives simple solutions to end-users in response to their health related text message queries. The key stakeholders for this application and their respective roles are then discussed. The paper then details the requirements for the application, separates them logically and represents them graphically for a clear understanding. Also put forth are two possible different sets of architecture for this application, one fully manual and the other using different sets of technologies. College Students' Perceptions of Cell Phone Use in Class

Since the turn of the century, cell phones have increasingly become prevalent within modern society. The widespread use of these mobile devices has proliferated in academic settings in recent years. Ownership of cell phones among college students has soared during the same period. This dissertation joins a growing conversation in education research about the challenges that cell phone use in the classroom has caused. I explored what college students’ experiences are with text messaging during class and how they perceive policies for cell phone use for the classroom. This research study was guided by six research questions: (1) What are college students’ general experiences with text messaging? (2) What are college students’ observations of cell phone use by others? (3) What are college students’ practices of cell phone use in the classroom? (4) What are college students’ experiences with issues related to cell phone use in the classroom? (5) What are college students’ perceptions about cell phone policies for class? (6) Do college students’ perceptions of appropriate cell phone policies for class vary by select demographic variables (age, gender, ethnicity, class standing, and community college experience)? A quantitative cross-sectional research design was utilized to describe college students’ perceptions of cell phone use during class and to identify what the perceptions of appropriate cell phone policies for class are among certain demographics of students. A web-based survey consisting of 28 questions was sent 264 undergraduate and graduate Political Science students with 43 (16%) responding. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s chi-squared statistical test was used to analyze the data. The findings from this research revealed that perceptions of appropriate cell phone policies for class differ among certain demographic variables. Additionally, students think that they should be allowed to use their cell phones during class but agree that policies to govern the use of cell phone during class are needed.

The analysis of competitive advantage among the four telecommunication services

In light of the niche theory, the study aims to understand the competition among the four telecommunication services, including fixed network telecom, second generation telecom service, third generation telecom service and internet phone in the taiwan market. In this study, we put emphasis on the gratification of the telecom user, because the more gratification the telecom get, the more competition it have. The findings suggest that there are eight factors about the gratification of the telecom consumer, including functional, affection, information-seeking, fashion, uitility, entertainment and pricing structure. In addition , there is strong competition between the fixed network telecom, second generation telecom service, third generation telecom service and internet phone. Four telecom services are good at different factors, therefore, new telecom services would not form competitive displacement for fixed network telecom. Thus, we argue that four telecom services satisfy different consumers needs, and they will survive in different segmentations of telecom market service.

A Driver, Vehicle and Road Safety System Using Smartphones

As vehicle manufacturers continue to increase their emphasis on safety with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), I propose a ubiquitous device that is able to analyze and advise on safety conditions. Mobile smartphones are increasing in popularity among younger generations with an estimated 64% of 25-34 year olds already using one in their daily lives. with over 10 million car accidents reported in the United States each year, car manufacturers have shifted their focus of a passive approach (airbags) to more active by adding features associated with ADAS (lane departure warnings). However, vehicles manufactured with these sensors are not economically priced while older vehicles might only have passive safety features. Given its accessibility and portability, I target a mobile smartphone as a device to compliment ADAS that can bring a driver assist to any vehicle without regards for any on-vehicle communication system requirements. I use the 3-axis accelerometer of multiple Android based smartphone to record and analyze various safety factors which can influence a driver while operating a vehicle. These influences with respect to the driver, vehicle and road are lane change maneuvers, vehicular comfort and road conditions. Each factor could potentially be hazardous to the health of the driver, neighboring public, and automobile and is therefore analyzed thoroughly achieving 85.60% and 89.89% classification accuracy for identifying road anomalies and lane changes, respectively. Effective use of this data can educate a potentially dangerous driver on how to operate a vehicle safely and efficiently. with real time analysis and auditory alerts of these factors, I hope to increase a driver's overall awareness to maximize safety.
