Ekonomická stránka a rentabilita fotovoltaické elektrárny / Economics and viability of photovoltaic power station

Mrázek, Dalibor January 2011 (has links)
At the beginning of the submitted work, I dealt with the study of various types of photovoltaic panels, their diverse use, effectiveness, advantages of each type and description of climate in the Czech Republic. Depending on the number of sunny days and no claudy days, I was looking for the best areas photovoltaic power. On the basis of cooperation with the firm and Energ-servis and using their test center, I compare different types of panels, their performance in relation with the cost and method of purchase. From these data, six diverse installation, I tried to determine the best type of panel that is best for the South Moravian region in the cost / return on investment.

A MCU-Controlled Photovoltaic System with Maximum Power Point Tracker

Wu, Fangnan 03 1900 (has links)
Given the growing concern over climate change, air pollution, rising energy prices, and the uncertain reliability of conventional fuel sources, solar power has become more popular in a variety of applications. Solar power is free, safe, abundant, renewable, and has few negative impacts on the environment. The photovoltaic array is substantially influenced with unpredictable environmental conditions (sun illumination and array temperature), which in turn, results in nonlinear Voltage-Current (or Power-Voltage, Power-Current) characteristics. These characteristics make it difficult to estimate the maximum power operating point. To extract the maximum power available from photovoltaic (PV) arrays on a continuous basis, a device called the Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) is needed to continuously deliver the highest possible power to the load given unpredictable variations in environmental conditions. The PV system used in our experiment has a maximum 300W capability. Two sets of PV arrays are used in parallel to demonstrate the scalability of the system; each branch consists of three series-connected PV modules that are individually rated at 50W. Two DC-DC buck-type converters are implemented. A 24V battery bank is used as a power storage unit and is also connected to the load. An MC-based 56F8013 and its demonstration board from Freescale are employed to implement different MPPT control schemes, with multiple-PWM channels. The design can therefore adequately handle two main independent switches for each power converter. Several MPPT control algorithms are validated and comparatively analyzed in both indoor and outdoor experiments in real time. A new control strategy (called Adaptive Hill-Climbing) is proposed as a modified version of the conventional Hill-Climbing method using an optimally adaptive power window. Other methods including dp/dv method and IncCond method are also implemented in the PV system. The experimental investigation is conducted using these control topologies to seek continuously varying Maximum Power Point (MPP) from solar arrays. The experimental results show that the new proposed control method strongly outperforms the other methods. This thesis shows that the proposed MPPT can increase the power generated by PV arrays by up to at least 30% more than a PV system without an MPPT. The proposed MPPT system is adaptive to environmental disturbances; it is flexible and can be expanded to an N-parallel PV system. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc)

Study of behavior of glasses as a function of temperature for use as substrate in photovoltaic applications and the theoretical study of a pyrolyzer / Estudo do comportamento de vidros em funÃÃo da temperatura para uso como substrato em aplicaÃÃes fotovoltaicas e estudo teÃrico de um pirolisador

Jean FranÃa Santos Aquino 26 August 2014 (has links)
The use of a glass substrate for use in photovoltaic system is very common, however, the substrates are subjected to high temperatures as in the case of obtaining glass covered with SnO2 (tin dioxide), where the operating temperature reaches values close to 600  C. Thus, a study of the glass expansion behavior with different thicknesses under temperature of 600  C was conducted in order to observe the influence of the same glass used as substrates, and thus, prevent possible defects cracks and broken glass inside the oven. Besides the study associated with the glass, a theoretical design of a pyrolyzer with these characteristics has been designed for obtaining layers of SnO2 on the glass, adding innovations such as the use of natural gas burning in porous media as heat source and the use of a pyrolyzer to replace the resistive furnaces.

Maximum Power Point Tracking Using Kalman Filter for Photovoltaic System

Kang, Byung O. 20 January 2011 (has links)
This thesis proposes a new maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method for photovoltaic (PV) systems using Kalman filter. The Perturbation & Observation (P&O) method is widely used due to its easy implementation and simplicity. The P&O usually requires a dithering scheme to reduce noise effects, but the dithering scheme slows the tracking response time. Tracking speed is the most important factor for improving efficiency under frequent environmental change. The proposed method is based on the Kalman filter. An adaptive MPPT algorithm which uses an instantaneous power slope has introduced, but process and sensor noises disturb its estimations. Thus, applying the Kalman filter to the adaptive algorithm is able to reduce tracking failures by the noises. It also keeps fast tracking performance of the adaptive algorithm, so that enables using the Kalman filter to generate more powers under rapid weather changes than using the P&O. For simulations, a PV system is introduced with a 30kW array and MPPT controller designs using the Kalman filter and P&O. Simulation results are provided the comparison of the proposed method and the P&O on transient response for sudden system restart and irradiation changes in different noise levels. The simulations are also performed using real irradiance data for two entire days, one day is smooth irradiance changes and the other day is severe irradiance changes. The proposed method has showed the better performance when the irradiance is severely fluctuating than the P&O while the two methods have showed the similar performances on the smooth irradiance changes. / Master of Science

Avaliação de configurações de sistemas fotovoltaicos na região Nordeste do Brasil / Evaluation of photovoltaic system configurations in the Northeastern region of Brazil

Fontenele, Luiz Fernando Almeida 23 October 2018 (has links)
In this work, different configurations of photovoltaic systems are evaluated, considering the main type of commercially available photovoltaic modules and mounting structures. The comparison is delimited to the Northeastern region of Brazil and is based, fundamentally, in terms of capacity factor. The influence on the output of the system of meteorological variables, the inverter loading ratio (ILR 1/FDI) and ground coverage ratio (GCR ICT) are shown in advance for a better understanding of the results. Computational simulations results are presented in maps, in which it is possible to verify the areas where photovoltaic systems tend to generate more electricity. Among the studied configurations, the largest values were observed for systems that use generic thin film modules mounted on one axis horizontal solar trackers, reaching 36 % of capacity factor (in alternating current) in some regions of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Bahia. Additionally, the gains obtained in the capacity factors when replacing fixed structures by solar trackers were shown. For an GCR of 0.4, systems that track, even on one axis, the apparent motion of the Sun showed gains of 18 % to 28 % on annual generated electricity.

Photovoltaic and wind systems: methodology for analysis of spatial-temporal complementarity with application in the design and analysis of financial risk.

Tello Ortíz, Elvis Richard 09 May 2014 (has links)
This thesis proposes to characterize the spatial-temporal complementarity between wind and solar photovoltaic energy between regions of Brazil and study, in the marketing of electricity in the Brazilian Electrical Sector - SEB, a portfolio formed by these sources bring significant economic benefits to the investor. To meet these goals, methods for data processing were studied as correction of solar irradiance calculation of the energy generated by the sources studied, the environment of contracting electricity in Brazil, optimization methods and models for risk analysis for contracting energy in the free energy market. The proposed methodology to answer the questions was applied in a case study involving three Brazilian regions with a horizon of ten years time series. It was concluded that there is complementarity between energy sources in the different regions studied and in different time periods. It was confirmed that technically can reduce the fluctuation in power generation by analyzing the complement of sources, however, the installation cost of photovoltaic power is still too high, preventing yet large-scale investments and complementary way the source wind. Also it was found within the sites evaluated, only one of the three sites presented economic and financial benefit by the portfolio of wind and solar sources acting in the sale of energy market and considering the risk criteria limit established when evaluated according to perspective of maximizing revenue in the free energy market.
