Karlsson, Jennie January 2014 (has links)
Pica is a behavior that can be seen in several animal groups. In cats, it means that they are eating, chewing or licking on material that is non-food. In this study the data was collected through an online survey. In total 522 responses, of which 26% of the cats were exhibiting pica. It was found that 28% of the housecats and 26% of purebred cats exhibited pica. This study examined whether race or environment could be a factor determining when cats exhibit pica, but no significance was found. There are only a few earlier studies done on the subject. This makes it important to further investigate the factors that cause pica in cats.

Širokopásmová anténa pro detektor hazardních elektromagnetických polí / Wideband antenna for hazardous electromagnetic fields detection

Faltýnek, Josef January 2008 (has links)
The thesis is focused on the design of a wideband detector used for detection of HIRF field. The detector, which is based on PICA antenna, was deeply examined and its´shape was also modificated for the purpose of achieving better omnidirectional and impedance characteristics. The thesis also deals with the design of cross PICA antenna variations, which purpose is to improve pattern bandwith. The PICA antenna variations mentioned were compared with one another at the end of the work. The end of the thesis also deals with the comparison of measured results gained from the specimen made with the results gained from the simulations.

Effects of Reinforcer Magnitude on a Fixed Time Food Delivery Treatment of Pica

Lyon, Nathan Scott 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the current study was to examine the effects of using fixed time schedules with different magnitudes of stimulus delivery as treatment for pica. A functional assessment was conducted, which indicated that pica occurred across experimental conditions and was most frequent in the absence of social stimulation or contingencies. A competing stimulus assessment was then conducted to identify stimuli that could potentially compete with pica during NCR. Subsequently, an evaluation of the effects of reinforcer magnitude on NCR as a treatment of pica was conducted. Treatment results indicated that quantity of reinforcer increased the effectiveness of leaner schedules of reinforcer delivery; however, it was not possible to fade the temporal schedule to one that would have been useful in practice. In addition, limitations and future research are outlined.

Vittoria Pica e Carlo Dossi: Teoria e pratica dell'estetica decadente nella letteratura fin de sie'cle / Vittorio Pica and Carlo Dossi: Theory and Practice of Decadent Aesthetics in Fin de Sie'cle Literature

Debattista, Jeannine 11 December 2012 (has links)
This dissertation examines the general traits of Decadentismo and Scapigliatura and the position of the art and literary critic Vittorio Pica and the writer Carlo Dossi in representing and promoting themes directly linked to these two literary trends. Pica’s essays on the leading European writers of the day are published in All’avanguardia (1890) and Letteratura d’eccezione (1898). These two books are responsible for the introduction of French Decadentism in Italy. Pica is also known for categorizing decadent authors under the literary phenomenon of “arte aristocratica.” This is the term that Pica resorts to when classifying the ‘ultra aristocratic’ tendencies of authors worthy of this prestigious stature. Carlo Dossi is one of the most appealing figures within the Scapigliatura. His position within the movement is examined in light of the narrative and linguistic divertissement displayed in his works, the interplay of the subjective narratorial voice of the “I” and the writer’s revolutionary role within the Italian literary canon. Special emphasis is given to Dossi’s dismantling of the traditional literary text, the literature of the fantastic, humor and the role of the reader. These themes are exemplified in his personal journal Note azzurre and in the novels, L’altrieri, Vita di Alberto Pisani and La desinenza in A. Although Dossi the writer and Pica the critic produced works that are entirely different in nature, the dissertation attempts to draw attention to a series of convergences and divergences between the two of them.

Böger, Fabian 22 December 2023 (has links)
