In this work we present positron molecule scattering theoretical studies, using molecules with any geometry. We accomplished calculations in order to determine the elastic cross sections for the molecules N2O, H2O, NH3 and CH4, using the method of continued fractions, in wich we incorporate a local correlation-polarization potential. The results presented here are in excelent agreement with theorical and experimental data from literature.

Carvalho, Claudia Regina Campos de 17 May 2000 (has links)
Orientador: Marco Aurelio Pinheiro Lima / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Fisica Gleb Wataghin / Made available in DSpace on 2018-07-26T17:32:40Z (GMT). These systems awake great interest because they present different behavior for the Zeff parameter. Although with small number of electrons ( Z = 14), they present values differing by a factor of 102 on their annihilation rates. Further, for presenting a high value of Zeff , the acetylene molecule becomes an interesting target to be studied since it allows us to approach, using ab initio calculations, the annihilation dynamics necessary to explain the high experimental values of Zeff observed for many molecular systems (usually large organic molecules), which, in most cases, are computationally not feasible for our calculations. Through results of Zeff , integral cross sections, differential cross sections, eigenphases, and others, we will introduce the importance of the virtual state and of the electronic mobility to the annihilation dynamics. We confirm the formation of a virtual state for acetylene target, non-existent for nitrogen target, which will command the annihilation, causing the high values of Zeff / Doutorado / Física / Doutor em Ciências
