Prefabricated housing for Russia : the past, present and future of prefabricated low-rise residential construction in RussiaTulupnikov, Ivan S. January 2000 (has links)
With the development of free-economy relations and with the changes in the social life of Russia that continue to this day, a construction boom in the low-storied housing market, which began in 1991, continues. However, despite the rapid development of the low-storied market itself, the construction industry was unable to adapt to the new economic relations and the high consumer demands being placed on it. This led to an increase in prices for low-storied housing and made it unaffordable for most strata of the population. / This paper will consider the peculiarities of applying new construction technologies in the market for low-storied housing in Russia, with the aim of reducing the cost of construction. The paper concentrates on studying previous experience in industrial construction in Russia, as well as on studying the peculiarities of today's low-storied housing market. / As a result of this research, the author identifies a number of specific peculiarities which new construction technology should possess in order to be able to adapt itself more rapidly and neatly on the Russian low-storied housing market.

An investigation of the possibilities within the limitations of prefabrication in housing todayMcBride, John David January 1970 (has links)
This thesis is the development of a design program.
Current housing systems, while offering a shelter, provide very little more in terms of differentiation and variation of units, or any selection on the part of the resident. This is termed the minimum solution and can, result in monotonous housing developments, discontent among inhabitants, and in general, dislike for "prefabricated houses.”
But, through re-evaluation of design priorities, and developing the maximum solution, which does contain many variations and a wide selection for the owner, an industrialized system of building can offer each person a unique unit and in turn, make "prefabricated houses" desirable to live in. / M. Cannoli Framing: The Turnstijl Houses and Configure-to-OrderAeck, Richard Hull 15 November 2007 (has links)
Beginning with the study of type, house typologies, manufactured houses, and structure classification, this thesis proposes the design and fabrication of a hybrid structural insulated panel (SIP) and laminated-stud (Lam) framing system developed using contemporary three-dimensional modeling techniques and digital production methodology.
Included within are prototypes, assembly diagrams, and structural tests of the proposed Cannoli Framing System (CFS) as well as three speculative Turnstijl houses whose systematic variation demonstrates the flexibility and scalability of the proposed system. In essence, this is the design of a framing typology capable of structural and formal variability to a degree that has previously been neither feasible nor affordable.
