Takes into account changes in education policy from the 1990s and its influence on the organization and offer of professional education. It presents a literature review about the characteristics of teaching, the history of professional education in Brazil and about the educational policies of the 1990s and its influence on professional education in the state of Paraná, in particular concerning the course of teacher - Secondary Level. Emphasizes the creation of PROEM suggested that the closing of the offering professional courses in public schools since 1997, the almost total closure of such courses and their subsequent recovery. It also presents an empirical survey on the subject of this study, results of a questionnaire to teachers from schools in four cities of western Paraná. From the collection and tabulation of the data they were compared to other studies carried out in the country and investigating different aspects of education and working conditions of teachers in the country, and the result is an overview of the working conditions of teachers in the region western Parana. / Esta pesquisa tem como objeto de estudo as condições de trabalho dos professores que atuam no curso de formação de docentes em nível m édio, na região oeste do Paraná no ano de 2012. Leva em consideração as mudanças nas políticas educacionais a partir da década de 1990 e sua influência na organização e oferta do ensino profissional. Apresenta uma revisão bibliográfica acerca das características do trabalho docente, do histórico da educação profissional no Brasil e sobre as políticas educacionais da década de 1990 e sua influência no ensino profissional no estado do Paraná, em especial a respeito do curso de formação de professores em nível médio. Destaca a criação do PROEM que sugeriu o encerramento da oferta de cursos profissionais na rede pública estadual a partir de 1997, o encerramento quase que total de tais cursos e sua posterior retomada. Apresenta ainda um levantamento empírico sobre o objeto de estudo em questão, resultado da aplicação de um questionário a professores de escolas de quatro municípios da região oeste do Paraná. A partir da coleta e tabulação dos dados os mesmos foram comparados aos de outros estudos realizados no país e que investigaram diferentes aspectos da educação e das condições de trabalho docente no país, e cujo resultado é um panorama sobre as condições de trabalho dos docentes na região oeste do Paraná.
