Writing and testing a programmed text on principles of biosystemics / Principles of biosystematicsLongley, Judy Lemay January 1970 (has links)
This thesis describes the procedure employed in writing and testing programed instruction on the subject of biosystematics. It briefly discusses similar studies that have been done with programed and other self-instructional materials. A review of the literature provides evidence that there is a need for such instructional materials in our modern schools. The thesis then describes the procedure that the writers followed in the writing, testing, and revising of the programed text, Principles of Biosystematics. Recorded in the appendices are the testing data which include the students# pre- and posttest scores and the item-analysis of the examinations used to test the first and second drafts of the program. These data were used to determine what parts of the program seemed weak or poorly developed, Such segments of the program were modified before being incorporated in the final draft of the programed textbook which, along with the accompanying teacher's manual, is also located in the appendices.

Effectiveness of programmed instruction in teaching : introduction to cookingMoulton, Judy Carolyn 03 June 2011 (has links)
This project has developed programmed instruction material to teach seventh grade students in a preparation for cooking class. The four parts of the programmed material are measuring, cooking terms, identification of equipment, and safety precautions. In addition, the creative project has compared the teaching of the four designated areas of preparation for cooking by programmed methods and by traditional teaching methods.

Writing and testing a programmed text on animal development / Animal developmentGeary, Michael L. 03 June 2011 (has links)
This thesis has explored the procedure utilized in the writing, testing, and revising of a programed text on animal development. First, this study has discussed the need for self-instructional material in the schools of this country. Next, the study has provided evidence which shows the need for programed material on animal development for general biology classes at Ball State University. This study has then described a procedure for organizing and writing the programed material. Following this, the thesis has outlined a methodology for testing the program, treating the data, and revising the program. Finally, the study has included a discussion of the specific revisions in the program based on the test results.Included in the appendix of this thesis is a final draft of the manuscript of the program.

Programmed industrial fluidics : text versus machine learningNorton, Willis P. January 1970 (has links)
This study was undertaken to determine if a programmed machine is superior to a programmed text in teaching fluidic concepts to Industrial Education majors. An eighty frame linear program was produced in both text and thirty-five millimeter slide forms. A machine was constructed which displayed the slide, evaluated the response by the subject, and provided instantaneous feedback by cycling forward or backward one slide within the series.A group of randomly selected subjects was exposed to each of these programs and their learning measured by a criterion instrument of suitable reliability. A third group experienced only the criterion instrument.Statistical analysis revealed the performance of both programs to be significantly superior to no treatment. A comparison of the two experimental groups indicated the advantage of the machine group to be non-significant at an acceptable level of confidence.

A linear measurements teaching device for junior high school mechanical drawingNewhouse, Kent A. January 1970 (has links)
This creative project is an attempt towards developing a self teaching device in the area of linear measurements, which gives an immediate response. The primary purpose of the project is that of facilitating learning in basic linear measurements. This was accomplished through the use and construction of a teaching device that will operate in much the same manner as a teaching machine or a programmed text.Three linear measurement device created is an electrically operated punchboard type device which the student operates by himself. An entire program of instruction cards and sequential key coded plastic panels are developed for a fractional measurements learning situation.
