I april 2011 startade MTG den kommersiella pratradiokanalen Radio 1. I och med lanseringen introducerades ett nytt begrepp i det svenska medielandskapet: kommersiell åsiktsradio. Denna uppsats söker att besvara hur Radio 1:s utbud och innehåll ser ut, vilka som kommer till tals i Radio 1, vilka influenser man kan finna från den amerikanska förlagan samt vilken position Radio 1 har på den svenska radiomarknaden. Kort sagt: vad kommersiell pratradio är och erbjuder i en svensk kontext. Denna uppsats använder sig av såväl kvantitativa som kvalitativa metoder för att tillhandahålla så pass nyanserade och generaliserbara resultat som möjligt inom detta färska forskningsområde. Uppsatsen söker även att besvara de ursprungliga frågeställningarna medelst en konkret jämförelse med dels amerikansk pratradiokultur och dels Sveriges Radios utbud. Resultaten tolkas utifrån Aristoteles retoriska begrepp, ett diskursanalytiskt perspektiv och gestaltningsteorin. Slutsatserna denna uppsats ger är att Radio 1 erbjuder en ny form av radio i Sverige, starkt influerad av amerikanska förlagor. Det finns anledning att tro att MTG:s största konkurrent, SBS, kan motiveras till att lansera ett liknande format vilket i slutändan skulle generera en mer utbredd kommersiell pratradio i Sverige. Radio 1 tenderar att erbjuda åsiktsmaterial som genom sin subjektiva karaktär går emot rådande journalistisk praxis inom Sverige. Vidare kan konstateras att Radio 1 är en kanal som präglas av mansdominans, sett till såväl lyssnare som medverkande.

This master's thesis studies and compares the methods that Czech alternative radio stations, Radio 1 and Radio Wave, use while creating the music component of their broadcast. Their alternative format defines their specific approach towards music, which is appealing for this type of research. The theoretical part of this thesis provides insight into the issues of the radio station's musical programming, describes the alternative radio format and the studied radio stations, including the musical component. Music directors and DJ's go through decision- making processes in a similar way that news editors write news articles. That is why the second part of this thesis applies the gatekeeping research framework to the musical programming. Based on the interviews with the radio station's music directors and DJ's, this thesis discovers a wide range of aspects that affect alternative radio station's musical broadcasts. The gatekeeping research levels help to compare these influences within the two stations.

Diploma thesis "Radio Stalin as an example of Czech piracy radio broadcast" is aimed to complexly present radio station Radio Stalin which was broadcasting in October 1990 in Prague. Radio Stalin is presented in the context of events of that time and related changes in politics, economy, society and media and in the context of piracy radio broadcast. First of all the emphasis is put on media transformation and changes in legislative framework of radio broadcasting after 1989. Radio Stalin is described through the method of oral history when interviews were held with its several cofounders. This method was chosen because of absence or unavailability of other sources. However, press is used partly. In this thesis is created overall picture of Radio Stalin. It is possible to imagine the situation and conditions in which was this radio created, the period before the start of broadcasting, the broadcasting process, the end of its broadcasting and the continuation of it. The benefit of thesis is the reminder of this often neglected radio which has its own place in the history of Czech radio broadcasting.
