Cache Creek and Nicola Groups near Ashcroft, British Columbia

Grette, Joan Frances January 1978 (has links)
Detailed mapping near the type area of the Cache Creek Group in southern British Columbia has led to significant changes in the distribution of Cache Creek and Nicola rocks. Much of what was called Cache Creek Group is now considered to be part of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. Several criteria can be used to distinguish the two groups. These include: 1) lithologic differences, 2) fossil information, 3) structural style, and 4) metamorphic history. The Cache Creek Group is subdivided into three mappable, fault-bounded units and appears to be a tectonic melange over much of its extent. A deformational event produced isoclinal folds, a phyllitic foliation in some lithologies, and was accompanied by metamorphism with variable pressure-temperature conditions. Mineral assemblages support conditions from temperatures less than 250°C and pressures of 4 kb or less to transitional blueschist conditions: T = 350° C and P = 6 kb. In contrast, the Nicola Group is characterized by hydrothermal alteration and the lack of a pervasive secondary fabric. It does not have the blocks in a sheared matrix tectonostratigraphic style typical of the Cache Creek Group. The two units were brought together along the Martel Fault, probably a thrust, during late Lower or early Middle Jurassic time. Deformation and melange development in the Cache Creek Group predates this event. Distribution of Cache Creek and Nicola rocks and their relationship to each other during Upper Triassic time are still not clear. / Science, Faculty of / Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Department of / Graduate

Brand management regionálních značek / Brand Management of Regional Brands

Šanderová, Petra January 2011 (has links)
This thesis is focused on regional brands and their strategic management. In the theoretical part there are explained the basic concepts: brand, brand management and region. The practical part describes the selected region and regional brand. That continues to marketing research that is focused on consumer awareness of regional brands. In the final part there are mentioned the promotion recommendations of the selected regional brand. The aim is to acquaint the reader with the programs of the regional marking and find out the opinion of the consumers towards the regional brands.

The wider KwaZulu-Natal region circa 1700 to the onset of colonialism: a critical essay on sources and historiography

Fagan, Henry Allan 21 January 2021 (has links)
This dissertation is an extended essay dealing with historical productions on the late independent era (the late “pre-colonial” epoch) of the wider KwaZulu-Natal region. The project pays particular attention to the development of the historiography and examines how it has shaped and in turn been shaped by the source material over time. Attention is also drawn to issues with terminology and disciplinary convention, including the distinction which is traditionally made between ‘primary' and ‘secondary' sources. The dissertation's scope extends beyond the discipline of history to interrogate how influences from the fields of anthropology, art history, archaeology, and literary criticism have shaped the production of history. It also examines the productions of African intellectuals whose works were excluded from the discipline of history during the late colonial and apartheid eras. Among other things, this essay draws attention to historiographical breaks in the literature and considerers where paradigm shifts and epistemic ruptures can be discerned.

Skin Detection in Image and Video Founded in Clustering and Region Growing

Islam, A B M Rezbaul 08 1900 (has links)
Researchers have been involved for decades in search of an efficient skin detection method. Yet current methods have not overcome the major limitations. To overcome these limitations, in this dissertation, a clustering and region growing based skin detection method is proposed. These methods together with a significant insight result in a more effective algorithm. The insight concerns a capability to define dynamically the number of clusters in a collection of pixels organized as an image. In clustering for most problem domains, the number of clusters is fixed a priori and does not perform effectively over a wide variety of data contents. Therefore, in this dissertation, a skin detection method has been proposed using the above findings and validated. This method assigns the number of clusters based on image properties and ultimately allows freedom from manual thresholding or other manual operations. The dynamic determination of clustering outcomes allows for greater automation of skin detection when dealing with uncertain real-world conditions.

Vliv lokalizace firmy na rozvoj regionu - případová studie

Bartošová, Denisa January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the master’s thesis is to show how location of companies influences the regional development. The thesis is focused on transport and storage industry and its influence on the South Moravian region development. For the evaluation of the influence of the industry or more precisely its companies is used a case study based on 3 companies with different size and with different product portfolio structure. According to obtained results it can be stated that companies in addition to supporting employment in specific region also offer wages on average up to CZK 10,000 higher than the average of the South Moravia region and Czech Republic. The negative influence that the automobile transport has on the environment could be possibly decreased with alternative truck drives or combined transport. Conversely, small freight forwarding companies that do not operate their own vehicles reduce the need to use other vehicles for shipment because of the documenting of their costs.

Factors influencing the performance of Agricultural Small and Medium Enterprisesin the Khomas region, Namibia

Kamati, Selma Nakashupi 20 April 2022 (has links)
Small and medium enterprises operating within the agriculture sectors are important entities because of their contribution to the economy. This study's objective was to investigate the factors that influence the performance of agricultural SMEs within the Khomas region. This study adopted the inductive approach in the quest to explore factors which influence the performance of agricultural SMEs in the Khomas region. The study adopted the exploratory design qualitative methods in collecting and analysing data. The population of this study consists of 43 enterprises engaging in agricultural activities on a small-scale basis. Using the convenience sampling method, the researcher identified ten (10) individuals of which seven (7) were farm owners and three (3) were farm managers for participation in the study. The researcher conducted face-to-face interviews with the identified participants using an interview schedule as the data collection tool. The researcher analysed qualitative data through qualitative content analysis. From the analysis, the study concluded that lack of support, lack of formal planning and lack of expertise negatively influence the performance of agriculture SMEs within the Khomas region in Namibia. Financial limitations and the inability of the agricultural SMEs to secure and manage financial resources also have a negative impact on the performance of agricultural SMEs, which leads to their poor performance. The study, however, reveals that agricultural SMEs contribute to economic development through job creation, food production and infrastructure development, and that makes their effective performance significant to the economy. Hence, the study proposes recommendations for the government to provide support to agricultural SMEs, the training of agricultural SMEs to ensure that they have the desired expertise to perform their farming activities, as well as how to manage business operations and create a market for locally produced agricultural products. The study further recommends that agricultural SMEs adopt formal planning to facilitate the effective allocation of resources, as well as track their progress. Implementation of the recommendations would enhance the performance of agricultural SMEs and increase their ability to contribute to economic development.
