Reklamy Hyundai z pohledu sémiotiky / Hyundai commercials from the semiotic point of view

This diploma thesis, called Hyundai commercials from the semiotic point of view, deals with audiovisual commercials and their meanings, which can be hidden in them. The thesis is inspired by the book Mythologies which was written by Roland Barthes. The first part of the thesis is a chapter about the car manufacturer Hyundai, its background in the Czech Republic and also the reason for the choice of this brand is stated here. This part is followed by a chapter about advertising. Advertising is a type of persuasive communication, it is a part of mass media and is connected to other sciences such as psychology, social studies, linguistics and others. Relevant knowledge of these fields is used as well. The theoretical background of the thesis is extended in the next chapter which focuses on the science of semiotics. Key terms such as semiosis, sign, denotation, connotation, primary and secondary semiological systems and myth are defined. Also the method of semiotic analysis is explored. In connection with the terms mythology and ideology a subchapter on Roland Barthes follows. In the methodology chapter the research design is stated and research questions are formulated. The thesis concerns itself with alcohol advertising. Alcohol is the most widespread habit-forming substance, yet its consumption is permitted in most countries all around the world, possibly restricted by the age of consumers only. Drinking alcohol cannot be either regulated or prohibited today. It has become commonplace for the majority of our lives. Being aware of its apparent risks, however, there is an effort to regulate at least alcohol advertising. The main objective of this work was to provide a comprehensive picture of alcohol advertising, with the focus on its regulation, concerning the legal regulation as well as the self-regulation. First, the thesis deals with advertising as such, its regulation in the course of time and how it has been regulated recently. The thesis further describes the adjustment of alcohol advertising, the legal amendment and its development, as well as the regulation through The Czech Advertising Standards Council and the development of this self- regulation. The next chapter focuses on the examination of alcohol advertising over the age. The topic of the diploma thesis is testimonial and influencer marketing. The aim of this work is to find out whether influencer increases the likelihood of purchasing a healthy nutritional product for Slovak women aged 20-40 years, and also whether Peter Sagana as a testimonial enhances brand credibility. The theoretical part deals with general communication and presentation of testimonial and marketing influence, their categories and examples. The practical part of the thesis is set into the environment of healthy nutrition. It shows an example of a marketing communication for a company that uses this specific type of marketing. Futhermore, own qualitative and quantitative research is included.

Vnímání internetové reklamy v české internetové populaci a její segmentace / Perception of Online Advertising in the Czech Online Population and its Segmentation

This master´s thesis aims to analyse the perception of online advertising by the Czech online population and its subsequent segmentation to provide recommendations on how to efficiently use online advertising tools in the Czech internet environment. The thesis is divided into three parts - theoretical, methodological and practical. The theoretical part describes the online advertising environment as such, defines the basic concepts and describes research methods used in the thesis. The methodological part delves deeper into these methods and justifies the reasons behind using them. Finally, the practical part offers detailed insights into the perception of online advertising through in-depth semi-structured interviews that have been further elaborated on and verified using the author´s own questionnaire-based quantitative research, representing the entire Czech online population. The obtained data is used to uncover segments in the Czech online population by means of factor and cluster analyses, after which the profiles of the segments are characterised using the contingency tables. Building on the findings, the final chapter provides recommendations on how best to use different types of online advertising and how to address the individual segments in the most efficient way.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to determine how shopping preferences and customer behavior across selected European markets differentiate in the concept of online stores, how to direct marketing appropriately for the individual markets, thus prepare a local startup e-shop for effective entry into foreign markets. The methods of analysis include basic questionnaire survey of individual markets, comparison and evaluation of own real data from conducted online advertising campaigns, or analysis of internal access statistics from individual e-shops. In conclusion overall results and analyzes of each market are presented, for each market a summary of lessons learned and suitable recommendations to potential effective input is made.

Diploma thesis deals with non-profit organizations with regard to their effective presentation, promotion and public relations. Theoretical part generally characterizes non-profit organizations and non-profit sector in the Czech Republic. First part outlines brief historical context, legal regulations in the Czech Republic, their operation, classification and fundraising. Second part describes public relations in non-profit sector, instruments of this communication and how to make this communication as effective as possible. Empirical part demonstrates these theoretical findings on examples of two particular non-profit organizations operating in the sphere of health care and social-service work. These two non-profit organizations are being compared in reference to public relations and public awareness about these organizations activity. Emphasis is laid not only on communication methods but especially on ethic aspect of this communication. Diploma thesis objective is to evaluate position of two non-profit organizations in terms of promotion and public relations. Conclusion summarizes ascertained facts.
