The thesis focuses on how different languages influence spatial cognition of their speakers, i. e., whether and how the differences in spatial language (linguistic representation of perspective, location, spatial scenes etc.) affect the non-linguistic spatial reasoning (orientation, spatial memory etc.). This issue has for a long time been a part of the studies of the relation between language and thouhgt under the flag of so called Sapir-Whorf hypothesis/Hypothesis of linguistic relativity. In the first half of the theoretical part of the thesis, I attempt to summarize the history of the concept of linguistic relativity since 1950s and to revise some critical claims about linguistic relativity by re-reading Whorf's works (chapter 2). The second half of the theoretical part (chapter 3) focuses in particular on the research of the interrelations between spatial thought and language. In section 3.1, I make a brief note on the notion of space in terms of cognitive linguistics. Section 3.2 provides an selective overview of the previous research of the crosslinguic spatial-cognitive diversity. Sections 3.3 and 3.4 connect the theoretical and the empirical part of the thesis. Studium geodetického chaosu pomocí fraktálních metod / Study of geodesic chaos by fractal methods

We study the dynamics of free test particles in a field of Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by an external exact thin axisymmetric solutions of Einstein's equations. Specifically, we use the Bach-Weyl ring and two member of the inverted Morgan-Morgan family of solutions as the additional sources. The fractal basin boundary and other meth- ods are used to detect and quantify chaos in time-like geodesic motion of the particles, primarily by computing box-counting dimension of said basin boundary. Our results mainly consist of the dependence of the chaoticity of these systems on mass and radius of the additional source as well as conserved energy and angular momentum of the test particles. We compare our results to literature and expand on them. 1

The diploma thesis is concerned with the effect of the grammatical gender of Czech nouns referring to inanimate entities on their semantic meaning and conceptualization. The thesis looks into the question whether masculines are conceptulized as "men" and feminines as "women". The thesis is divided into two main parts. In the first part, theoretical insight into the question of relation between language and thought is provided. In this part, foreign experiments related to our research question are mentioned as well. In the second part, two experiments accomplished in the Czech language are presented. The objective of experiment nr. 1 was to choose such semantic differential scales which according to Czech speakers distinguish the "female and male principle" the best. In experiment nr. 2, feminine and masculine gender variants of nouns were employed (e. g. "brambor - brambora"). Experiment nr. 2 contained two tasks. The first task used the semantic differential method. In the second task, participants were asked to choose a woman's or a man's voice that the inanimate entities would have in a cartoon movie. V klasické fyzice m·že být ustavena statická rovnováha v soustavě, která obsahuje extrémně nabité zdroje gravitačního a elektromagnetického pole. Udivujícím faktem je, že tato situace m·že nastat i pro černé díry v relativis- tické fyzice. Tato práce vyšetřuje speciální případ nekonečně dlouhé, extrémně nabité struny, zkoumá geometrii prostoročasu, elektrogeodetiky, vlastnosti zdroje a srovnává řešení se situací v klasické fyzice. Dále se zabýváme analogickou situací v dynamickém prostoročase s kosmologickou konstantou, a řešení porovnáváme s jeho statickou verzí. Nakonec zkoumáme periodické řešení Laplaceovy rovnice, které odpovídá nekonečně mnoha extremálním bodovým zdroj·m rozloženým v pravidelném rozestupu podél přímky. Vyšetřujeme vlastnosti elektrostatického potenciálu a ukazujeme, že v limitě velké vzdálenosti od osy tvořené zdroji pře- chází toto řešení v nabitou strunu. 1

Geometrické vlastnosti algebraicky speciálních prostoročasů / Algebraically special spacetimes - geometrical properties

In the thesis, we set out to study a certain class of algebraically special spacetimes in arbitrary dimension. These are the so-called spacetimes of Weyl and traceless Ricci type N. Our work can be divided into two parts. In the first part, we study general geometrical properties of spacetimes under consideration. In particular, we are interested in various properties of aligned null directions - certain significant null directions associated with algebraic structure of the Weyl and the Ricci tensor. Since the obtained results are of geometric nature, they are theory-independent and thus hold in Einstein's gravity as well as in its various generalizations. In the second part of our work, we apply these general results in the Einstein-Maxwell p-form theory, within which spacetimes of traceless Ricci type N emerge naturally as a part of a solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations with a null Maxwell field. Princip vstřícnosti a antropologické bádání / Principle of Charity in Anthropology Research

This paper aims implementation of selected knowledge, e.g. the principle of charity, which were developed in the framework of analytical philosophy of language (Davidson, Quine) making methodology cultural anthropology, based on interpretative approaches examining social actors / players examination. The first part will be devoted to explanation of thought experiments, e.g. Radical translation, radical interpretation) within the discussion of analytic philosophy of language (Quine, Davidson). The second part will focus on the transfer of this knowledge to make the methodology of cultural anthropology. In the next section we will highlight a breach of the principle of charity. We will focus on critical reflection theories that have been developed in the field of linguistic anthropology, specifically linguistic relativism (Sapir, Whorf). The last part is devoted to the problem rationality which is discussed in the context of Evans Pritchard research of African Azande. These examples point out the methodological errors with anthropologists field research committed to the negative consequences to which it wrong methodological approach led. Termodynamika prostoročasu: nový pohled z kvantové oblasti / Thermodynamics of spacetime: A new perspective from the quantum realm

The main result of the thesis is the derivation of quantum phenomenological gravi- tational dynamics from the thermodynamics of local causal diamonds. By taking into account logarithmic corrections to entropy implied by quantum gravity effects, we derive new gravitational equations of motion which incorporate quantum corrections. The re- sulting theory appears to be a direct generalisation of the classical unimodular gravity instead of the general relativity. Upon obtaining the equations, we discuss their prop- erties and possible implications. As by-products, we also present a novel derivation of the Einstein equations from the thermodynamics of causal diamonds and a derivation of the logarithmic corrections to black hole entropy from the existence of minimal re- solvable area. Apart from the new results, we also provide an extensive review of the thermodynamics of local causal horizons. 1

Matematické metody a přesné prostoročasy v kvadratické gravitaci / Mathematical methods and exact spacetimes in quadratic gravity

Within this work we have been interested in the frame approach to analysis of the field equations in the context of theories of gravity, in particular, the Einstein General Relativ- ity and Quadratic theory of gravity. As the starting point we have summarised the least action principle formulation of the General Relativity and introduced the Quadratic grav- ity extending the classic Einstein-Hilbert action by adding quadratic curvature terms. The Quadratic gravity field equation have been rewritten into the form separating the Ricci tensor contribution. As a next step we have reviewed the Newman-Penrose formal- ism on a purely geometrical level and discussed employing the field equations constraints. While in the case of General Relativity it is quite trivial, in the Quadratic gravity it be- comes much more involved, however, the General Relativity procedure can be followed even here. As an illustration, we have formulated the constraints on the gravitational field in the cases of the spherically symmetric spacetimes and so-called pp-waves both in the GR as well as Quadratic gravity. 1

Nevakuová přesná řešení / Exact solutions with matter fields

In this thesis we investigate Robinson-Trautman solutions of Einstein's gravity cou- pled to a matter field in higher dimensions, specifically a conformally invariant and non- linear electromagnetic field. The latter possesses in general a non-zero energy-momentum tensor, which provides a source term in Einstein's equations. We focus concretely on an electromagnetic field aligned with the null vector field generating the expanding con- gruence of Robinson-Trautman spacetimes. At the beginning, we review the concept of optical scalars for a null vector field in higher dimensions and we use those to define the higher-dimensional Robinson-Trautman class of spacetimes. Next, we solve the corre- sponding Einstein's equations and present the complete family of exact solutions of the theory under consideration. We then contrast the obtained results with the known ones for the linear Maxwell theory in higher dimensions. As a check, we also compare our results to the well-known results in D = 4, since in this case our matter theory reduces to the standard linear Maxwell theory. Finally, we study properties of a subfamily of solutions which represent the static black holes within our class. Přesné prostoročasy v modifikovaných teoriích gravitace / Exact spacetimes in modified theories of gravity

In the review part of the thesis we summarize various modified theories of gravity, especially those that are characterized by additional curvature invariants in the Lagrangian density. Further, we review non-twisting geometries, especially their Kundt subclass. Finally, from the principle of least action we derive field equations for the case with the Lagrangian density corresponding to an arbitrary function of the curvature invariants. In the original part of the thesis we explicitly express particular components of the field equations for non-gyratonic Kundt geometry in generic quadratic gravity in arbitrary dimension. Then we discuss how this, in general fourth order, field equations restrict the Kundt metric in selected geome- trically privileged situations. We also analyse the special case of Gauss-Bonnet theory. 1
