Deformation Behavoir Of A Clay Cored Rockfill Dam In Turkey

Oral, Yasar Zahit 01 October 2010 (has links) (PDF)
In this study, Bah&ccedil / elik Dam, which is located in Kayseri Province, is investigated by means of horizontal movement due to reservoir loading and seepage inside the core and body. Two dimensional plain strain finite element analyses are carried out in order to find total stresses, displacements and pore water pressures. Mohr-coulomb soil model is used to represent elastic behavior of rock-fill material. Since there is no information about material used in dam body, material parameters are determined by sensitivity analyses being in the range of data acquired from literature survey. Calculated displacement and pore water pressures are compared to the data taken from field survey on actual dam body. As a conclusion remark, it is beleived that the horizontal displacement behaviour of two systems, such as real dam and computer modelling, would not match excatly since the materials used in real dam body would behave as plastic whereas that used in computer modelling assumed to be elastic.

Investigation Of The Effect Of Soil Structure Interaction On The Behavior Of Concrete Faced Rockfill Dams And Assesment Of Current Analysis Methodologies

Erdogan, Emrah Ersan 01 June 2012 (has links) (PDF)
CFRD (Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam) construction becomes more frequent recently not only because of its secure nature, but also its economical cost where its built up material is feasible to obtain. Although CFRDs are known to be safe compared to other dam types, it is behavior during an earthquake loading still not a well-known aspect since it is mostly constructed in regions of low seismicity until now. Considering this fact, this study

Numerické modelování proudění v bezpečnostním přelivu / Numerical modeling of flow in spilway

Svoboda, Jiří Unknown Date (has links)
The goal of the diploma thesis is the numerical modelling of flow in planned spillway of the Boskovice dam. In the introduction of this diploma thesis are described and divided basic spillways according to their types and profiles. There are also mentioned emergency spillways. Then the thesis introduces the description of calculation of overflow quantity, the description of mathematic modelling and used turbulent models. The next part is concerned with the technical description of the Boskovice dam, the creation of virtual 3D model of spillway and spillway chute in the AutoCAD 2020 software and concerned with the control and revision of model in the Blender software. In the end of the thesis are mentioned results of numeric modelling of flow gained from the Flow-3D software and the comparison of results with the research of hydraulic model implemented at Water structures institute of Faculty of Civil Engineering of BUT.

Evaluation Of Concrete Face Rockfill Alternative For Dam Type Selection: A Case Study On Gokceler Dam

Korkmaz, Seda - 01 June 2009 (has links) (PDF)
In this study a recent dam type, concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD), its design and behaviour is overviewed. The design features of G&ouml / k&ccedil / eler Dam are introduced as a case study. Selection of concrete face rockfill type for G&ouml / k&ccedil / eler Dam Project is discussed together with the other two alternatives, namely earth core rockfill (ECRD) and roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam. G&ouml / k&ccedil / eler Dam type selection as concrete face rockfill dam is also verified by an economic analysis conducted calculating internal rate of return for all alternative types. In cost analysis a currency independent defined unit cost (DUC) is specified to verify the time independent validity of the economic analysis.
