Francouzský sekularismus a islám / French Secularism and Islam

Svobodová, Eva January 2021 (has links)
In my thesis I try to describe transformation of French secularism/laicité from the 1980 and how the function and meaning of this principle has changed. My work is based on hypothesis that the change of laicité is not influenced just by arrival of more Muslims but that is result of deep changes in french politics and society around the turn of the milénium. The first part concentrates on discourse changes denoting Arabs/Muslim. The third part focuses on the changes in french policy on the axis laicité/politics/Muslims. Finally, I analyze the law from 2021 on the so-called separatism of President Emmanuel Macron and policicies related and I put them into overal transformation political use of the principle od laicité.

Teorie tolerance u Rainera Forsta / Rainer Forst's Theory of Tolerance

Sklenář, Václav January 2019 (has links)
The goal of the presented thesis is to expound and evaluate Rainer Forst's theory of toleration, counting among the most discussed themes in contemporary political theory and practice. A critical reception of the manner in which a leading contemporary political thinker systematically treats this theme will provide us with historical, systematic, and normative orientation in the structure of this complex problematic. The exposition follows Forst's historical analyses explaining the development of the concept and different conceptions of toleration and at the same time supply normative evaluations of individual developmental tendencies. The thesis subsequently focuses on the purely systematic part of Forst's work, i.e. on his own theory of toleration, and situates Forst's contribution in the wider frame of his constructivist theory of justice. The thesis closes with a critical evaluation of Forst's theory. Here, systematic deficiencies of his conception will be uncovered, deficiencies that point towards deeper problems of liberalism and constructivism.

Muslimky a muslimové v post-křesťanském Česku / Muslims in Post-Christian Czechia

Bartheldi, Layla January 2021 (has links)
How does it happen that somebody is perceived as "Normal" and somebody as "the Other"? It is more likely to encounter Muslim in the media or a pub debate than in the public space. Muslims in Czechia are sometimes defined as an invisible minority; however, their presence arouses strong emotions. In my thesis, which is based primarily on data gained in ethnographical interviews, I am exploring how Czech practicing believers perceive and reflect the influence of the discursive image of the "Muslim" on their lives. I am interested in the consequences of the contemporary dominant discourse on the space in which Muslims negotiate their positions on an institutional and personal level. I am also mapping their reactions to the situation and coping strategies. Keywords: Muslims, Czechia, Discursive Image, Postcolonialism, Post-Christianity, Secularism

Multikulturalismus v Indii: Selhání politiky diference / Multikulturalismus v Indii: Selhání politiky diference

Krejčík, Jiří January 2018 (has links)
For the 70 years since Independence, India has been facing a two-fold problem: on the one hand, there is a strong need of a just society on the basis of cultural and religious diversity. On the other hand, however, there is a strong urge to find an overarching unifying idea which could keep the polity together without any risk of further fragmentation. Taking the communitarian philosophy of Charles Taylor and his distinction between the politics of equal dignity and politics of difference as the basic conceptual framework, the thesis pursues three different objectives. First, to prove that affirmative approach towards recognition of minorities does not provide stability in the Indian case. Second, to rehabilitate the Nehruvian secularism as a viable state ideology of independent India. And third, to interpret the Indian political discourse on the level of political practice as a struggle for hegemony between the elites and bourgeoisie in the Gramscian sense. The rise of identity politics and Hindu nationalism is thus perceived not as an outcome of the failure of the Indian secularism as such, but rather of its ineffective application and subsequent crisis of legitimacy. Keywords: India; multiculturalism; politics of difference; secularism; anti-modernism; Hindu nationalism; hegemony; passive revolution

Svoboda náboženského vyznání v kontextu evropského a mezinárodního práva / Freedom of Religion or Belief in the Context of European and International Law

Bartoň, Daniel January 2012 (has links)
Freedom of Religion or Belief in the Context of European and International Law This PhD dissertation focuses on selected aspects of freedom of religion or belief in Europe. It aims to introduce the legal framework in which religious freedom has to operate, and to place this essential freedom into a broader cultural, religious and human rights context. The contextualisation emphasised throughout this dissertation is based on an assumption that it is not possible to establish a pure legal notion of religious freedom that would not bear any imprint of the societal, legal, cultural and religious context of its authors; in reality, each person's understanding of religious freedom is rooted in his culture, religion and experience. This should not lead, however, to a complete rejection of the possibility of a common understanding and universal protection of religious freedom. On the contrary, it should motivate each interpreter and law-maker in the area of religious freedom to study the understandings of all persons and entities involved in a particular case or situation. Having thoroughly studied all presented claims rooted in religious freedom and having taken into consideration all other rights, principles and interests involved, it should be possible for the decision-makers to resolve the case in a...

Vliv islámu na postavení Turecka v mezinárodním společenství: Turecko a EU. Dimenze lidských práv / Influence of Islam on Turkey's position in international community: Turkey and European Union. Dimension of human rights

Stavjaňa, Petr January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this work is to analyse the progress made by Turkey in human rights area and identify how important role of Islam there is. The work attempts to refute the idea that Muslim society is not possible to create a functioning legal system that takes sufficient account of the protection of human rights. Reforms of 20 and 30 years of the 21st century were used as theoretical basis. For the analysis of advances in the field of legislation was used Turkish Constitution as the basic document, which is the most important from the point of view of the European Union. A key part of this thesis is an analysis of current problems in the field of human rights and criticism of the international community, especially the European Union that Turkey must face. The work attempts to identify how important role is played by Islam in the issue.

Finální externalizace druhých a její důsledky pro tureckou zahraniční politiku / The Final Externalization of the Others and its Consequences for the Turkish Foreign Policy

Chvátal, Viktor January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of Turkish Foreign Policy (TFP) towards the sub- regions of Central Eurasia (the Middle East and Central Asia) in the period between 1991 and 2010. Theoretically, this thesis combines a modified version of social constructivism with the assumptions of critical geopolitics. Interconnecting social constructivism with the Foreign Policy Analysis (FPA), this thesis targets the domestic level of analysis. Therefore, the ideational background of the decision-makers is examined. Although, the potential impact of the identity variable on the TFP articulation is investigated after 1991 only, the genesis of the long-term identity conflict within the Turkish (Ottoman) society is also included in the analyses. Given the geopolitical part, this thesis draws upon the basic critical insight that the geopolitical argumentation is based on discursive rather than material factors. The aim is to identify the geopolitical metaphors which had been, in the examined period, applied while dealing with the above mentioned sub-regions. At this stage, the theoretical approaches are logically synthetized and the genesis and usage of the geopolitical metaphors is examined in relation to the identity of those who formulated them. This diploma thesis proves that the identity conflict...

Komparativní studie vojenských pučů v Turecku: srovnání neúspěšného puče v roce 2016 s předchozími / Comparative Study between the 2016 Failed Military Coup and Previous Successful Coups in Turkey

Safarli, Adil January 2021 (has links)
The 2016 Turkish failed coup attempt was a striking political event of the year. Although Turkey is a country with a long history of successful military intervention and deep-rooted coup culture, the coup organizers could not achieve the desired outcome in 2016. The coups of 1960, 1971, 1980 and 1997 have resulted in the government's change where the military played an important role by influencing the political sphere. However, the result was different in the coup attempt carried out on 15 July 2016. As the President, a large segment of military, political parties and a significant part of the society had an anti-coup attitude and stood up against the military coup. For this reason, the thesis attempts to compare the 2016 Turkish failed coup with the previous successful coups of 1960, 1971, 1980, and 1997's in Turkey. The comparison is based on the hypotheses built on four civil-military relation theories and concepts: Military Professionalism, Civilian Supremacy, Social Cohesion and Public Institutionalism. According to the analyses, the findings indicate that the theories of Civilian Supremacy and Public Institutionalism better explain the failure of 2016 and the success of the previous coups than other theories.

Islám v Tatarstánu v devadesátých letech 20. století / Islam in Tatarstan in the nineties of 20th century

Maršálková, Kristina January 2009 (has links)
Diploma thesis Islam in Tatarstan in the nineties of 20th century presents an analysis of Islam and Muslim community in the Republic of Tatarstan at the end of 20th century. During this period Tatarstan not only gained its statehood, but the Islamic revival started thanks to the restoration of religious freedom. This diploma thesis is divided into five chapters. After the short historical excursus, the Islamic revival and its connection with Tatar national movement are presented. Consequently, the relation between Muslim clerics and politics and also the regime's attitude towards Islam is analyzed. This analysis leads to a conclusion that even though Islam was not a good instrument for electors' mobilization and clerics could not influence the politics, we can consider Islam as being unofficial state religion. Next two chapters focus on Tatar Muslim community. First the development of Muslim community in the nineties is analyzed. The influence of the Middle East charitable funds and Islamic education is investigated in more detail. The fifth chapter emphasizes the world-view of Muslims, their perception of religion, their own ethnicity and politics. Different trends of Islam, which appeared in the nineties, are presented too. The analysis demonstrates that Islam in Tatarstan was an important...
