Estudo clínico e biométrico de quatis (Nasua nasua, Linnaeus, 1766) de vida livre

Ferro, Barbara Sardela January 2018 (has links)
Sixteen coatis were estudied, nine females and seven males. After anesthetized, blood samples were collected for determination of renal function (serum urea and creatinine), lipid profile (total cholesterol and triglycerides) and liver function (aspartate aminotransferase- AST, alanine aminotransferase- ALT, gammaglutamyl transpeptidase- GGT, alkaline phosphatase- FA enzymes). Body weight, body condition score (BCS), chest and abdominal circumference, height of the withers, column length and patellar-calcaneal distance were evaluated. Two body mass indexes (BMI) were calculated, one based on dogs (BMI1) and the other on cats (BMI2), and the percentage of body fat (%BF). The results showed that males had significantly larger values for red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit and FA parameters, while the overall platelet count and AST were higher in females. In the biometric evaluation, body weight, thoracic and abdominal circumference, column length and patellar-calcanum measurement were significantly larger in males. BMI1 and BMI2 showed a significant correlation with body weight and BCS. The correlation between %BF and body weight was significant, but not witht BCS. In conclusion the hematological and biochemical parame... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre
