PROBABILITY OF FALSE POLYNOMIAL DIVISION SYNCHRONIZATION USING SHORTENED CYCLIC CODES

Schauer, Anna Lynn, Ingels, Frank M. 11 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / November 04-07, 1991 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Shortened cyclic codes are not cyclic, but many cyclic shifts of various code words are still part of the shortened code set. This paper addresses the probability of false synchronization obtained through polynomial division of a serial shortened cyclic code stream in a “sliding” window correlator.

Elektronický platební rozkaz v civilním procesu / Electronic payment order in civil procedure

Spurná, Julie January 2012 (has links)
Electronic payment order in civil procedure Abstract Electronic payment order is introduced into the Czech legal system by the amendment of the Civil Judicial Procedure Rules no. 123/2008 Sb. implementing a new institution within the payment order procedure. Electronic payment order is presented as an institution able to help the Czech judiciary system within the shortened civil procedure by the application of the computerization of civil procedure. I decided to begin my thesis with a chapter trying to clarify the role of electronic payment order within the frame of the computerization of justice. I provided a brief account of the development and contemporary trends related to the computerization of justice and I approached the individual institutions which I regarded as appropriate to mention in order to understand the given institution within the whole context. The third chapter deals with reasons for which the institution was implemented into the Czech legal system. I carried out a detail analysis of the explanatory report to the Act introducing the institution of electronic payment order and I made an effort to outline the main reasons for the amendment and to arrange the objectives intended to be achieved by the implementation of the new institution. The third chapter focuses on the institution of the...

Vliv analytických a syntetických metod u pacientů s muskulární dystrofií / The effect of analytic and synthetic methods in patients with muscular dystrophy

Hrubšová, Vendula January 2014 (has links)
Title: The effect of analytic and synthetic methods in patients with muscular dystrophy Objectives: Two main objectives are set in my thesis. The first objective is to summarize the theoretical knowledge concerning problems of muscular dystrophy, its classification, hereditary predispositions, diagnostic procedures, subsequent care and to present international grant projects, and the muscular dystrophy world organization and registry. The second objective is to assess the effect of the six months lasting physiotherapeutic intervention on the self-sufficiency and self-reliance of given probands - the individuals suffering from the muscular dystrophy at the age from 40 to 66 years, and to assess the extent of muscular shortening according to Janda in the experimental group Methods: This thesis is of an exploratory nature. It is an experimental study focused on the assessment of the effect of the physiotherapeutic intervention in the individuals suffering from the muscular dystrophy. To assess the extent of the improvement I used the information collected during the kinesiologic analyses (entry, final, follow up) that included goniometric assessment according to Janda, the examination of shortened muscles according to Janda, the examination of joint play according to Lewit and Rychlíková, the examination of...

Vliv strečinku na výkon žáka v atletice / Influence of stretching on performance of pupil in athletics

Nováková, Magdalena January 2019 (has links)
Title: The effect of stretching on performance of youth athletes in track and field Objectives: The difference of views on stretching as part of sports training is great, so this work aims to prove or disprove its effect on performance. The work should contribute to the awareness of domestic athletic trainers and the results will be applied practically. This work also aims to demonstrate whether the rate of shortened muscles affects the pupil's speed and endurance performance. The work is also interested in whether a strictly adhered stretching plan will reduce the amount of shortened muscles. Method: The thesis is conceived as an experimental study. The study was attended by 30 probands who were divided into two groups. To evaluate the results, a standardized test of shortened muscles according to Janda is used, as well as a run measured by hand-held stems for 2x40 and 600 meters. Result: There are great differences in the youth age between individuals with the almost same age and do the same sport. There are individuals who do not have shortened muscles, but those who have shortened almost every muscle group. The rate of shortened muscle does not affect pupil performance in athletics. Performance on the sprinter and endurance track was deteriorated or even improved, regardless of whether there...

Evaluation of an automated multiplex real-time RT-PCR assay for rapid detection of Influenza A and B viruses

Broddesson, Sandra January 2015 (has links)
Influenza is a viral infection that affects global health and economy with its endemic and sometimes pandemic spread. Rapid detection of Influenza viruses enables antiviral use and can bring financial savings. It is also essential for the global surveillance of prevalent Influenza strains. RT-PCR is considered the most specific and sensitive method for detection of Influenza, but Influenza mutates at a high rate and it is therefore crucial that RT-PCR methods are updated regularly. In 2014, Cepheid released their Xpert Flu/RSV XC assay, which can detect Influenza A and B and RSV by multiplex RT-PCR in approximately one hour. The aim of this study was to evaluate this assay at Laboratoriemedicin Västernorrland by using the laboratory’s previous PCR assay for detection of Influenza viruses as reference method. Real-time RT-PCR was used to compare Xpert Flu/RSV XC to the reference method. A dilution series was performed to estimate the methods’ PCR efficiencies and precision was calculated from quadruplicates of a positive control sample. Clinical specimens (n=42) were used to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of Xpert Flu/RSV XC. Objective statistical analysis of PCR data was performed and discussed. The Xpert Flu/RSV XC was equivalent to the reference method and demonstrated high diagnostic sensitivity and specificity. Estimated PCR efficiencies were however low. With the introduction of Xpert Flu/RSV XC to the laboratory follows many potential benefits, primarily in form of a simplified pre analytical procedure and a shortened analysis time. The Xpert Flu/RSV XC assay enables fast diagnosis of Influenza infection.

Exploring the Retention of Credit-Hour Value in Terms of Workload for University Core Courses Taught in a Time-Compressed Format

Lutes, Lyndell E. 24 March 2014 (has links) (PDF)
This study compared the workload and value of work done outside of class reported by 3512 undergraduate students at Brigham Young University completing 16-week semester and 8-week term University Core (General Education and Religion) classes. Based on the results of this analysis, significant differences in workloads were found when comparing them by occasion (semester versus term). Significant differences were also found in workload and value of homework based on the autonomy of the instructors. On average, the workload difference by occasion equates to approximately 54 minutes more per week in a 3-credit semester course when compared to a term course. While term workloads are lighter than semester workloads in general, both could be called "University Core lite," in that none of the courses exceeded the expected workloads of two hours outside of class per hour in class. The value of homework reported by occasion was overall not significantly different between semester and term. When comparing the reported workload based on the autonomy of the instructor to make changes to a course, statistically significant differences were found. Regardless of occasion, workload tended to decrease when the instructor had greater autonomy in designing the course. The difference in the value of homework reported by autonomy was also found to be significant. The pattern for this factor was reversed in comparison to workload. Students reported greater value in the homework done outside of class in courses when the instructor had greater autonomy. Overall, based on calculated workloads coupled with changes instructors made to their term courses, the impact to the course in terms of workloads was greatest for reading- and writing-intensive courses. Each of which reported a substantial decline in workloads when taught in term format. Math and physics courses came closest to meeting the expected workloads and remained constant between semester and terms. These and other implications are discussed, and recommendations are made regarding the types of courses that are best suited to being taught in a time-compressed format.
