A palynostratigraphic classification of the Westphalian of the southern North Sea carboniferous basin

McLean, Duncan January 1993 (has links)
Based upon the examination of the palynostratigraphy of 28 well sections and 6 multi-well studies, the Westphalian sequences in the Southern North Sea Carboniferous Basin are divided into 7 biozones and 12 sub-biozones. These are related, via the known regional northwest European palynostratigraphy, to the chronostratigraphic units of the Westphalian. Analysis of 164 palynological samples from Westphalian sections in the Murdoch Gas Field wells 44/22-1,44/22-3 and 44/22-4, coupled with the recognition of diagnostic macrofossil faunas indicative of the Vanderbeckei Marine Band, allows the direct calibration of part of the palynostratigraphic classification with the chronostratigraphy. Palynological assemblages from these wells contain significant numbers of acritarch and miospore taxa interpreted as being reworked from Lower Palaeozoic, Devonian and early Namurian sediments, possibly during multiple phases of reworking. Assemblages also contain unusually old examples of striate disaccate and monocolpate pollen. One new genus (Ala rasmospo rites) and eighteen new species (Auroraspora? pickerillensis, Dibolisporites ranunculioides, Elaterites anfractus, Endosporites pygmaeus, Hymenospora murdochensis, Knoxisporites biceps, Kraeuselisporites crassus, K. pseudoornates, Marasmosporites semiesus, Neoraistrickia exigua, N. virgultorum, Pityosporites inaequus, Protohaploxypinus masonii, Raistrickia parvula, Savitrisporites semotus, Spelaeotriletes oppletus, S. bulboides and Vestispora dubia) are described.

Moravsko-slezská filharmonie Ostrava, Černá louka / Moravian-Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra of Ostrava, Černá louka

Ferenc, Matej January 2012 (has links)
The issue of the diploma thesis is the design of the philharmonic house in the city of Ostrava. The solution is the concert house which includes the main concert hall with the capacity of 1200 persons. The diploma thesis brings the solution of the object within the context of the environment of Cerna louka in Ostrava and its aim is the solution of mail concert spaces in terms of accoustics and visibility. The thesis includes the design the the pipe organ and all the necessary spaces required by the staff and employees and for the longtime use of the building.

Silesian identity : the interplay of memory, history, and borders

Musalkova, Johana January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation provides an ethnographic account of contemporary Opavian Silesian identity (or identities) and its negotiations. In particular, it is concerned with the question of how Silesian identity is being negotiated by various social actors in and between the town of Opava and the neighbouring area of Hlučín, which together comprise the tourist region of Opavian Silesia. In focusing on Opava and the Hlučín area, inhabited by Opavians and Hlučíns respectively, I not only explore the internal constitution of a group and analyse its narrative accounts, but also pay special attention to the social organisation of the differences between these two groups. The aim of this project is not to address the question of whether Silesian identity exists objectively, which is taken for granted by the majority of scholars working on Silesian identity do, but rather to explore how various social actors negotiate and utilise the concept, including these scholars themselves. I start from the premise that identities are relational, situational, and instrumental, and throughout the dissertation I focus on the groups' external and internal contestations, exploring the ways in which various social actors try to overcome these differences. The present negotiations over Silesian identity have proved to be problematic in all their temporalities, as they relate to issues in the past, the present and possibly the future. I therefore investigate how certain versions of the past are being reconstructed and negotiated in the present, how these versions inform and reflect on the present, and the possible implications of this for the future. I consider competing representations of Silesian-ness and competing reconstructions of the past that are related to it through the theoretical framework of 'dominant v. demotic discourses' and 'difficult heritage', focusing on commemoration practices, tourism, the politics of display, and hierarchies of knowledge.

Litofaciální vývoj a cyklická stavba svrchní části porubských vrstev (serpuchov) ve východní části OKR / Lithofacies and cyclic pattern of the upper part of the Poruba Member (Serpukhovian) in the eastern part of the Ostrava-Karviná coalfield

Michlová, Nikol January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis studies lithofacies and cyclic pattern of about 200 m thick upper part of the Poruba Member (Serpukhovian) in the Karviná area of the Ostrava-Karviná coalfield. The objective of this thesis is to identify laterally persistent cycles from the local ones by the set of cross-sections and to better understand their formation, especially the role of glacio- eustatic sea level changes. Set of cross-sections constructed from boreholes were used for this study. The three genetic cycles were identified in the thesis based on previous studies of Gastaldo et al. (2009). From base to top the cycles are the (i) Max, (ii) Otakar a (iii) Gaebler. Their thickness fluctuates between 19.9 and 109.9 meters. The genetic cycles are bounded, with one exception, by a transgressive erosional surface of important faunal marine bands. From the set of cross-sections and maps of thickness and sand content (%), constructed for individual genetic cycles, it is obvious that the area of maximum thickness corresponds to area of increased content of medium- and coarse-grained sandstone. Maxima of sand content and thicknesses follow NNE-SSW direction, which is in agreement with basin axis. These maxima are interpreted as areas occupied by fluvial channels that are responsible for deposition of coarse- grained...

Klastrová politika jako součást regionalní inovační politiky / Cluster Policy as a Part of Regional Innovation Policy

Beranová, Veronika January 2007 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis has been to answer the question, whether the cluster policy in the Moravian-Silesian Region is a proper part of the regional innovation policy and whether it is properly targeted within the context of the regional innovation policy. In other words whether there is an impact of cluster policy on research, development and innovation, or vice-versa on the fields that can eventually be considered harmful to the fair competition (e.g. activity of the cluster organisations in the field of joint procurement and enforcing of joint interests); and further whether the cluster policy measures contribute rather to dissolving of innovation barriers caused by lack of contact with the other companies and institutions (e.g. missing cooperation partner, low level of trust, missing technical equipment, missing know-how), or to dissolving innovation barriers which should be targeted by other means of the innovation policy (e.g. problems with financing of the innovation projects). An attempt to answer the questions was made in a survey among the members of the Moravian-Silesian cluster organisations. The results of the survey have confirmed the assumption, that the members of the cluster organisations see the activities in the field of networking and information and research, development and innovation as the most beneficial and that they have experienced the highest improvement in dissolving the following innovation barriers: missing cooperation partner, missing business related know-how and low level of trust. However, after a thorough analysis of the policy system and conduction of several structured interviews with the cluster managers, doubts concerning the impact on the "natural" clusters were stated. Based on these findings the further cluster promotion at the national and regional level proves to be eligible, but further research is necessary to examine, whether the activities of the cluster organisations really promote the "natural" clusters, what impact on the innovativeness and competitiveness they bring and whether the promotion is economically efficient.
