Relationship between awareness and willingness to purchase green products.Mahlangu, Sfiso Goodman. January 2014 (has links)
M. Tech. Marketing / Environmental research has been growing fast in recent years, especially since global warming is becoming a major challenge to the world. Other problems include: damage to the environment, shortage of natural resources, and continuous climate change. Today, a large number of consumers around the world indicate that they are concerned about the environment; and they consider the environment in their purchasing decision-making. Furthermore, these consumers indicate that they are willing to pay more green products. This study focuses on awareness and the willingness to purchase green products of respondents residing in the City of Tshwane. Furthermore, significant linear relationships between the respondents' awareness, their willingness to purchase, the influence of green advertising, eco-labels, and the social factors in relation to green products were determined. Lastly, differences between respondents' demographic characteristics and their awareness and willingness to purchase green products were statistically analysed.

Factors influencing internet banking adoption in South African rural areas.Ramavhona, Thinamano Cyril. January 2014 (has links)
M. Tech. Business Information Systems / The Banking industry globally provides Internet banking in order to offer their customers easy access to banking services. In South Africa, the banking industry has developed into a mature sector that is well managed and uses most advanced risk-management systems in conducting business. The banks in South Africa, like their counter parts in other parts of the world offer Internet banking to customers. However, the majority of South Africans in rural areas do not adopt and use Internet banking despite its convenience, the availability of Internet banking Infrastructure, the effort of banks in promoting Internet banking awareness and Internet security. This research investigated factors which influence the adoption and use of Internet banking in the context of South African rural areas.

Evaluation of symbiotic N nutrition, C accumulation, P uptake and grain yield of fifteen mungbean genotypes planted at two sites in South African region.Mokobane, Kobo Frans January 2013 (has links)
M. Tech. Agriculture / Mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) is becoming a food security crop in Africa, especially in South Africa where there is a growing Asian population. To promote its production by farmers, 15 elite mungbean varieties were evaluated for plant growth, symbiotic N (nitrogen) nutrition and grain yield at Nelspruit and Kliplaatdrift in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. Genotypes VC6486-10-S1 and VC6493-44-1 at Nelspruit, and VC6510-151-1, VC1973A and VC3960-88 at Kliplaatdrift showed better growth and fixed significantly more symbiotic N than the other genotypes. They also seemed to obtain more N from soil. At both Nelspruit and Kliplaatdrift, two genotypes (namely, VC6510-151-1 and VC6493-44-1) exhibited much greater δ¹³C (carbon) values, and hence higher water-use efficiency. A comparison of P (phosphorus) nutrition between Nelspruit (received no P) and Kliplaatdrift (received 20 kg P.ha-1) revealed mineral P suppression of acid phosphatase activity in the rhizosphere of all fifteen mungbean genotypes at the latter site. The findings further showed that there is a direct functional relationship between water-use efficiency and N2 fixation, and between water-use efficiency and P nutrition.

The impact of crime on entrepreneurship in the SMME wholesale and retail sectorStorom, Ditebogo Dawn. January 2011 (has links)
M.Tech. Business Administration. Business School.. / South Africa has high levels of unemployment. This unemployment crisis may easily be solved by thriving entrepreneurship levels. South Africa also suffers from high rates of crime. The aim of this research is to determine the existence of any relationship between high levels of crime and low levels of entrepreneurship. The main findings of this research are that crime features as a considerable deterrent to entrepreneurship development and growth in South Africa.

Mechanisms of laser melt injection synthesis of carbide reinforced stainless steel composites.Obadele, Babatunde Abiodun. January 2011 (has links)
Thesis (MTech. degree in Metallurgical Engineering)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2011. / The mechanisms by which stainless steel matrix surface composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and tungsten carbide (WC) cermets synthesized using laser technique was investigated in this study. The relationships between process parameters and the properties of the synthesized composite were studied. The morphologies and microstructures of the composite coatings were investigated using optical microscopy and high resolution scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), while the phase change and interactions were observed using x-ray diffraction (XRD). Surface hardness of the composite layers was determined using the Vickers microhardness tester while its corrosion behaviour in 3.5% NaCl solution was investigated by using potentiodynamic polarization curve measurement method.TiC reinforced 2507 DSS showed a greater resistance to corrosion than 304L austenitic and 2205 duplex stainless steel in the medium. This was attributed to the presence of titanium and equal volume proportion of ferrite and austenite in the structure of the 2507 stainless steel coupled with higher content of chromium in its composition.

Service delivery and the South African police service community service centres : an evaluative study of East Rand, GautengZondi, Phineas. January 2012 (has links)
Thesis (MTech. degree in Safety and Security Management.)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2012. / Community Service Centres of the South African Police Service usually referred to as charge offices are the only offices which remain opened daily, on a 24 hour basis to provide services to the community relating to safety and security. However, little is known on the extent to which services rendered by these offices are effective and the problems militating against their optimal service delivery to the clients, especially in the present dawn of public clamouring for effective service delivery in South Africa. Against this background, the motivation of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of police officials employed at the Community Service Centres in the East Rand Area with regard to quality of services provided to community members as clients and the associated problems.

Stakeholders and shared decision-making in Atteridgeville schools : a survey .Phalatse, Mathota Adelina. January 2011 (has links)
Thesis (MTech. degree in Education.)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2011. / South Africa emanated from a centralised education system, which was characterised by apartheid laws, policies and principles. These policies and principles allowed little opportunity for community participation during decision making. The community, parents, educators and learners had little say on educational matters affecting them. The hierarchical methods of schools determined the processes, styles and effectiveness of decision-making within those schools. These hierarchies are contrary to the basic human drive to learn, to find work meaningful, and to express creativity, responsibility and competence. The purpose of this study was to deepen and examine the understanding leadership practices that promote shared decision-making in schools.

Thinking style preference profile of the contemporary administrative professionalVenter, A. J. January 2011 (has links)
Thesis (MTech. degree in Office Management and Technology)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2011. / The aim of this research was to establish the ideal thinking style preference profile of the administrative professional for optimal functioning in the new work environment (referred to as the contemporary work arena). The administrative professionals were also assessed to quantify their preferred distinct type on the NBI(registered trademark) 8-Dimension Model. The relationship provided evidence that the administrative professional is required to demonstrate more right brain thinking style preferences to enable her to support the executive officer effectively. The study concluded that the current administrative professional has not yet adopted the preferred thinking style preferences for effectively supporting her executive officer in the new world of work.
