The Relationship with Motivation, Job Satisfaction, Family Support, Intention to Stay and Professional Commitment - High-tech Industry R&D Professional for ExampleHuang, Hui-chung 31 August 2005 (has links)
The condition of the high-tech industry changes rapidly and the competition of the globe becomes sharp, we truly believe that the R&D professionals¡¦ innovation and technology will be the key factor of the business¡¦ expansion. To understand the R&D professionals¡¦ characteristic and requirement and to provide enough attraction to attract and retain them is the important topic in HRM.
This study focuses on the relationship with motivation, job satisfaction, family support, intention to stay and professional commitment. The survey adopted questionnaire as investigating method, and a total of 480 questionnaires are delivered to the high-tech R&D professionals. 304 of them are valid, so the response rate is 63.3%. The survey responses were analyzed by the Spss statistical software. The findings are summarized as follows:
1.The motivation factor that the R&D professionals respect most is enjoyment, and they care less about the compensation. Generally speaking they are satisfied with their job, intrinsic satisfaction especially. In the all factors of the motivation, challenge, enjoyment, and outward positive correlated with job satisfaction. All of them can improve the job satisfaction, but compensation negative with the job satisfaction.
2.A significant positive correlation was identified between job satisfaction and intention to stay.
3.A significant positive correlation was identified between job satisfaction and professional commitment.
4.Job satisfaction was found to have full mediating effect between motivation factor and intention to stay.
5.Job satisfaction was found to have partial mediating effect between motivation factor and professional commitment.
6.Family support was found to have significant moderating effect between job satisfaction and intention to stay. In the moderating effect, family support in higher-grades groups influenced intention to stay more significantly than lower-grades groups.
7.Family support was found to have no moderating effect between job satisfaction and professional commitment.

The comparison of prevalence, medical expenditure and related factors between open appendectomy and laparoscopic appendectomyVi Lu, David 12 August 2009 (has links)
Abstract
Background and Objectives:
Since 1894, open appendectomy (OA) has been the treatment of choice for acute appendicitis. In 1981 Semm performed the first laparoscopic appendectomy (LA). More than 2 decades later, the benefits of LA are still controversial. The goal of the present investigation was to compare the effectiveness of LA and OA based on a large administrative (The Bureau of National Health Insurance, BNHI) Research Database. The source of data analyzed was the administrative claims data from the BNHI Research Database.
Methods:
The objective of this retrospective study was based on the ICD-9-CM procedure code of 4701 (Laparoscopic appendectomy, LA) and 4709 (Open appendectomy, OA) respectively from a database of 20 million insurance population, Separate analyses were performed for uncomplicated (ICD-9-CM, 540.9) and complicated (presence of appendiceal perforation or abscess; ICD-9-CM 540.0 and 540.1) appendicitis. Exclusive criteria were: (1) Average length of stay exceeds 3 S.D. (n=1,262). (2) Gender unmentioned (n=243). All these data will analyze in multiple dimensions including length of hospital stay, in-hospital complications, in-hospital mortality, and rate of routine discharge between laparoscopic (LA) and open appendectomy (OA) based on The Bureau of National Health Insurance (BNHI) database.
Results:
We enrolled 11,118 patients underwent LA and 47,725 patients underwent OA during 2004 to 2007. The prevalence of LA increases gradually from 6.97 per 100,000 populations in 2004 to 21 per 100,000 populations in 2007. The prevalence of OA decreases gradually from 57.5 per 100,000 populations in 2004 to 44.86 per 100,000 populations in 2007. Patients underwent LA (3.25¡Ó1.51day) have significant lower length of hospital stay than OA (3.57¡Ó1.49 day) (p<0.001). We also found the trend that the annual medical expenditure of LA increases gradually but OA decreases gradually. In general, LA spends higher medical expenditure than OA. With respect to medical expenditure, higher length of hospital stay and co-morbidity are associated with more medical expenditure significantly.
Conclusions:
LA is the current developing trend of surgical treatments for appendicitis. LA can reduce length of hospital stay significantly. OA can reduce the medical expenditure in Taiwan. In our opinion, the results represent the native data in Taiwan and are very important for a good administration of public resources distribution.

Små barns lärande i skogsmiljö : En kvalitativ studie om hur pedagogerna inom I ur och skur arbetar med de yngsta barnens lärande i skogen / Small children's learning in forest : A study on how the teachers in the I Ur och Skur working with the youngest children learning in the woodsOretun, Emma January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of the survey was to find out how early childhood teachers work with the curriculum of I Ur och Skur with children between 1-3 years in the forest and how such educators are using the outdoor pedagogy in the forest environment in preschool. In order to answer the study's aim and objectives interviews were performed with six teachers in I Ur och Skur kindergartens. What emerged from this study is that forest excursions are a central part of the curriculum and is seen as their educational place. The teachers are working to create a feeling of security among the youngest children of enjoying the woods and also to raise an interest in the children. Natural materials are used during the forest stay and no other toys or materials. The results reveal that educators work to get the smallest children to use and develop their imagination at play and at the same time they are involved with the children in their discovery of the woods. With the smallest children in kindergarten it involves being on the level of children and as a teacher to have the flexibility to change the forest stay environment if needed.

SOCIAL NEWS : CROWD-SOURCED NEWS FROM SOCIAL TRENDSCyriac, Jacob January 2015 (has links)
During the last decade, social media has had a great impact on the way we communicate. It has also expanded our awareness of the world.! However it has become harder for the lay person to find news, because of too many conflicting interests in the mass media industry on one hand, and simply too much free information available on the other! This report documents my study of how social media has affected the way we collect, consume and share news. I describe how democratization of information has made some things easy, but some other things hard - filtering data to find meaningful content has become harder! My studies were targeted mainly at people younger than 30, and mainly in India, and much of its design is informed by problems characteristic to the Indian context. So while I do not explicitly target my end result at the Indian market, a news network by its very nature needs to be global, and this process reflects that.! I go on to use Design Methods including Brainstorming, Participatory Workshops and Service Design theory to arrive at a product that aims to provide people a way to stay up to date with meaningful and relevant news. ! I propose a social network for individuals to exchange news with each other. I try to understand what makes some pieces of information more important than others, and how a network can self filter information so that participants can get high quality content.! In the final result, I describe the framework of this network and how people would contribute to it and consume from it.

Governing recovery: a discourse analysis of hospital stay lengthHeartfield, Marie Unknown Date (has links) (PDF)
This research examines hospital length of stay as a feature of contemporary health care reforms. The ideas of Michel Foucault on governmentality enable length of stay to be studied, not as numerical values of hospital use, but rather as one of the social and political processes through which certain concepts are made susceptible to measurement and part of practice. In this study length of stay is examined as a programmatic rationality, evident in the reengineering of the modern hospital. However, the focus of analysis is not the ‘effect’ of this reengineering, as seen in the substantial changes to hospital treatments and the shifting burden of responsibility for health and ill-health care to individuals and communities. Rather, analysis is directed at understanding how such rationalities make possible reengineering or shifts in the local contexts of hospital care practices. (For complete abstract open document)
