Jazyk a styl Hany Bělohradské / Language and style of Hana Bělohradská

HRŮZOVÁ, Šárka January 2015 (has links)
The aim of my diploma thesis called "Language and Style of Hana Bělohradská" is the linguistic analysis of Hana Bělohradská's works. I will focus mainly on her early works, ie the books which were published especially in the 60's of the 20th century. I will try to compare these texts to the works that were published in the 90's. The thesis will be devided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part will outline the author's life and the poetics of her works. Then I will briefly define the functional style of her literature. In the practical part I will focus on the analysis of the given works in terms of different language levels. These are the phonetic, morphological, lexical and syntactic levels. For greater transparency, the given phenomena will be explained on the specific parts from the texts examined. In conclusion, I will try to point at the development of language and style in Bělohradská's works.

Jazyk charakterizující postavu "žoviálního Ósačana" v japonských novelách a jejiich překladech do češtiny / Register defining character of a Jovial Osakan in contemporary Japanase novels and their Czech translations

Vrbovský, Matej January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to address the issue regarding successful translation of yakuwarigo, Japanese character defining register, to Czech language. This study is based on the assumption that yakuwarigo used to describe the literary character of a "jovial Osakan" is derived from an existing regional variation of Japanese language, namely the Kansai region dialect, and that the specific traits it refers to are based on historical and cultural facts of the said region. In this aspect the role defining register of "Osakan" is superimposing with the notion of social deixis, interpreted in a broader sense. This overlap thus enables to pursue the issue with the help of literature regarding translation of dialects. This thesis treats translation from a descriptive standpoint and evaluates the successfulness of existing Czech translations, defined here as the extent of transmission of comparable non-language information (i.e. social deictic meaning) present in the source language original to target language translation, by the means of an public inquiry. The final results of this thesis should be able to provide instrumental information and used as a reference in the selection process of a suitable translation strategy in the case of translating a Japanese character defining language means into Czech...

Stylistický rozbor dvou současných překladů bible z hlediska recepce dnešním čtenářem / A stylistic comparison of two modern translations of biblical text from the viewpoint of reception by present-day readers

Vlčková, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
The present thesis deals with two present-day English translations of the Bible - New American Standard Bible, which represents a conservative biblical translation, and Good News Bible, a more liberal translation, written in a way to be readable and accessible to the modern reader. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the two translations in terms of style, focusing on the syntactic and lexical levels. The research is based on a sample of 100 corresponding biblical verses drawn from each of the translations (altogether 200 verses), representing five different narrative parts of the Bible. The analysis of the lexical level is a qualitative one, comparing the nature of the vocabulary used in the two translations; the syntactic level is examined both qualitatively and quantitatively. The thesis attempts not only to describe the findings but also account for them, where possible, in terms of reader reception.

Typy a užívání zkratek na Twitteru / Types and use of shortening on Twitter

Gižová, Veronika January 2017 (has links)
The thesis works with the fact that communication on social network sites, particularly on Twitter, occurs in short text messages, tweets, which are restricted to the maximum of 140 characters. This leads to the tendency to shorten single and multiword expressions in order to save space and increase the content of sent information. The thesis examines the hypothesis that the number of shortenings on Twitter and their variation may function as a stylistic indicator of tweet genre. It is expected (i) that the number of shortenings in the Twitter sample will be higher compared to other genres and (ii) that the sample will contain more types of shortening, some of which will be characteristic for the tweet genre in general in comparison with the control sample. The research sample of 200 shortenings was collected from two Twitter trends, #Grenfell Tower and #Wimbledon. In the analysis part, the collected sample of shortenings is examined quantitatively, compared to the control sample and separately, interpreted qualitatively. The Appendix contains the complete table listing the meanings of all shortenings. Key words: Twitter, shortening, stylistics, internet linguistics, language of social media

Juan Filloy a román Op Oloop: Mýtus, autor, dílo / Juan Filloy and the novel Op Oloop: A myth, an author, a work

Kazmar, Vít January 2012 (has links)
Vít Kazmar - Juan Filloy: A myth, an author, a work The work Juan Filloy: A myth, an author, a work focuses on the neglected Argentinian writer Juan Filloy (1894 - 2000) and its aim is to serve as an introduction to his work that has received little attention so far. Its first part is dedicated to the analysis of the myth that has spread around the author and completely eclipsed his work. It consists mainly of anecdotal features of his personality and it touches his work only superficially. However, the status of an unknown writer is determined in large part by Filloy's own decision to live in a small town and publish the books himself, as well as by his demanding style, wide vocabulary and often very provocative language and themes. However, it is possible to find some key attributes of his aesthetics in the myth about the author: the palindromes mean a turning toward language as well as the strict and disciplined approach; the wide vocabulary points to the desire of precision of expression etc. The majority of the work then concentrates on the analysis of the author's language and on the interpretation of the novel Op Oloop. The language of Juan Filloy is characteristic by contrast, clarity and order. The central stylistic tool is parallelism; the structure of sentences often becomes a space for...

Epistolae duorum amantium - překlad a komentář souboru korespondence připisované Abélardovi a Heloise s úvodní studií / Epistolae duorum amantium - translation and commentary of the corpus of correspondence attributed to Abelard and Heloise with an introductory essay

Daňhelová, Jana January 2013 (has links)
The topic of this dissertation is a Medieval collection of 116 love letters (and fragments thereof), composed in all likelihood in the 12th century and commonly known today as "Epistulae duorum amantium". The only extant copy, penned by the Librarian of Clairvaux Abbey, comes from the latter half of the 15th century. The manuscript was discovered no sooner than in the 1970s and has been a subject of many questions ever since: It is not clear who the author of the original is or if the scribe copied a collection of genuine intimate correspondence or a work of rhetorical fiction (of the "ars dictaminis" genre). Nevertheless, certain aspects of the narrative and the relationship between the two lovers as depicted in the texts make some contemporary Medieval scholars believe that the collection might be an authentic record of the correspondence between the influential French theologian Abélard and his student Heloïse, written during the period of their mutual intensive romantic attachment. The aim of this dissertation is to present a complete Czech translation of the collection, accompanied by commentary and, using relevant works of secondary literature, to assess the current stage of research regarding the authenticity of the correspondence and its authorship.
