The goal of the present thesis is a corpus stylistic analysis of Alice in Wonderland (1865), and it presents the possibilities of using corpus methods in the study of literary texts. In the theoretical part, the thesis is concerned with an explanation of the words norm, foregrounding, deviance and prominence (Leech, 2008), which are key terms in stylistics. The text then focuses in detail on various concerns connected to keywords and clusters, which are investigated later on in the theoretical part. The relation of keywords to the reference corpus and aspects of the length and frequency of occurrence of clusters are analyzed. An important element in a corpus-based analysis is that it is supposed to decrease bias, as the researcher studies statistically based significant markers of the text. The next part of the thesis focuses on the position of Alice in Wonderland between other members of the children's literature of the Golden Age (Knowles & Malmkjaer, 1995), and the role of nonsense and non-observance of pragmatic principles of interaction in the text. The reference corpora are described and primary hypotheses stated. In the practical part, keywords are studied first. Cultural Aspects of Cartographic Creation: Use of Mental Maps in Cross-cultural Research Abstract: Diploma thesis deals with study of interdisciplinary issue of cultural aspects of cartographic creation. The first part of the work consists of theoretical introduction dealing with the map con- tent, map stylistics and map language, in which maps show the greatest cultural differences. The map figures here in a role of the image of reality and visual manifestation of culture. The analogy between a map and a classical language (linguistic anthropology) and the analogy between early maps and primitive cultures' maps are described. Beside the language, as determinants of the human spatial perception and other categories related to the map creation could be mentioned the environment, the experiences and the society, in which man lives. Several examples of so- called cultural map styles, especially from Australia and Oceania, are introduced as well. In the methodical part of the work in connection with cultural-anthropological research a method of cognitive maps, respectively mental maps of map users and map makers is discussed in detail. The diploma thesis deals with culture of spoken language among pupils at second stage of elementary school. The theoretical part is focused on rhetoric, phonetics, syntax or stylistics. The thesis also includes a part about division of vocabulary. The last two chapters of the theoretical part deals with nonverbal communication and it also includes some specific features of spoken language. The research part contains analyses of speeches that were done by six pupils of ninth grade of elementary school. Prepared an unprepared speeches were analysed from phonetic, morphological, lexical and syntactic point of view. Nonverbal communication was also evaluated.

This master thesis extends the main topic of the bachelor thesis Speech of the Computer Games Players (also by Eliška Schönbauerová) and it will further research a new type of sociolect; the speech of computer games players. This sociolect has been researched just on the basic level, and so the author seeks to focus on other, yet unexplored linguistic levels of said sociolect: morphology, word-formation, phonetics, lexicology, syntax and stylistics. The goal is to deeply explore and research gamers' sociolect and to better understand the process of adapting Anglicisms in the system of contemporary Czech language. The theoretical part is based on available professional literature. This thesis also contains materials gathered by the author from gamers or they are available online.

The topic of this diploma thesis is a linguistic analysis of a defined part of the first volume of Jan František Beckovský´s baroque chronicle. The theoretical level approaches the life of the author, it summarizes his works and introduces the chronicle called Poselkyně starých příběhů českých I written in 1700 itself. The analysis deals with the phonological and lexical levels of the chronicle in several thematic wholes. Less attention was paid to the morphological and stylistic levels. The syntactic structure of the chronicle was not analysed there. The thesis aims at discussing the basic phonological features of the high Baroque style language and presenting the vocabulary specifics of a historiographical text.

Antoni Ludwicki Development of the radio broadcast news after the World War II Abstract The aim of this thesis is the analysis of changes in style of radio broadcast news in the second half of the 20th century. The main source for this research is the Archive of Czech radio. Theoretical part of this work contains scientific literature and the determination what a radio broadcast news should be like. This part contains also a description of radio broadcasking in Czechoslovakia before the World War II. A significant part of this work contains transcriptions and analyses of recording of radio news. The analysis begins with records from 1968 as no data was found on the research in the Archive of Czech radio before that date. The research was divided into chapters based on historical events. Last part of the analysis of style is the comparison between theoretical and practical research and conclusions. The purpose of this thesis is the analysis of style in radio broadcast news and changes of this style within chosen decades.

This diploma thesis titled "The Style and Language of Sport News and Journalism, Moderators, and Commentators in Czech Television (Focused on Petr Vichnar)" describes and analyses the speech of Petr Vichnar (of Czechoslovak Television fame) from the station's inception up to the present day. The thesis is divided into six main parts. The first part deals with general stylistic elements, the second focuses on the style and language in the contemporary speech of Petr Vichnar. Part three deals with the style and language of this author in the past whereas the fourth section shows the transformation of speech. The fifth and sixth parts deal with work in television and sports langure and a semiotic analysis respectively. Everyone changes in thein profession, and sports journalists are no exception either. Petr Vichnar began his career in sports journalism at the time when Wi-Fi networks, which allow rapid acquisition of information, were not in common usage. The main aim of this diploma thesis is to bring to Czech readers an appropriate translation of selected passages from Dialogus Ciceronianus sive de optimo genere dicendi by Erasmus of Rotterdam. By this work, Erasmus significantly afftected the history of disputes over the form of imitation of M. Tullius Cicero, which started among humanists at the end of the 15th century and continued, with varying intensity, for a hundred following years. Erasmus rejected pedantic imitation of formal features of Cicero's language which he considered a threat for Christian religion and education. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and a practical one. The theoretical part briefly describes the development of opinions on the imitation of Cicero from the ancient times to the 16th century and deals with the analysis of the contents of the dialogue as a whole with an emphasis on stating the most important Erasmus' ideas. The second part comprises of a translation of selected passages accompanied by factual and translatological notes.
